Ok, I have been thinking long and hard about Acolyte and I have thoughts. I don’t think Qimir is Plegius’ apprentice. I don’t think Qimir is technically part of the Baneite line at all. Hear me out.

I think Plegius is the apprentice who’s feeding Sith teachings to Qimir. Qimir is definitely Sith, but his whole speech during Night reminded me more of the Old Republic Sith. I think Plegius (and his master, who’s definitely Tenebrius) are using Qimir to suss out Jedi defenses. This has been done before, by Vitiate during the Mandalorian Wars (when Revan fell in legends). The fact that he found Osha and Mae, and that now he knows how they were made, is a whole big ass perk for them. Knowing what we do, that Plegius and Palpatine go on to “make” Anakin (in legends but I’m running with it), clearly Plegius and Tenebrius start learning about how to make Force babies.

This theory has one major advantage: Qimir doesn’t impact the main story at all. That means he can go on to do whatever he wants (or die when Plegius and Tenebrius get tired of him, which is more likely). It wouldn’t surprise me if we start getting more information about Old Republic Sith this way (please let it be Vitiate, please please please). Qimir almost acts like a Light Side Sith, which may open the door for fun philosophy debates (and again, much more Old Republic, where Light Side Sith were more common). Having been an Old Republic girl for years, this is deeply exciting.

We also know Venestra, the Queen that she is, is trying to fend off political attacks against the Jedi, almost certainly fed by the Baneites. Qimir doesn’t seem to have interest in that part of the plan, which adds to my suspicions that he’s not Baneite. He’s Old School Sith being used. And Yoda, who essentially uses the High Republic as a sabbatical, would then have the opportunity to learn some about the Baneites, but since Qimir isn’t one of them, that information is limited.

I've just been hit with the possibility that if Qimir knew Plagueis was there the whole time...the entire bath scene could've been Plagueis's idea.

Anyway ROTJ take:

- idk what EU material has to say about this but I fully believe that Jabba the Hutt can speak & understand Basic just fine and is simply choosing not to as a power move. And honestly, he's valid for that

- I also fully believe that Luke can understand huttese. Like he grew up on Tatooine in what seems to be a bilingual society. He's got to at least know some. On his visit to Jabba's palace I think he's pretending not to for his own reasons.

Conclusion: during the scenes where Luke & Jabba are communicating via interpreter they are both just pretending not to be able to understand each other and making poor Threepio act as go between

Oooohh The Acolyte is bringing out the xenophobia hard core in some people right now. Honestly, I can't believe some people are straight up saying that the coven is evil just because they do some chanting, they had coming of age ceremonies, they defended their home, etc. Like....idk how to say this nicely....maybe take a look at yourself and re-evaluate why you think those things are evil? And point the finger at western christian values that say anything not of our culture must be evil and creepy.

I think the Acolyte is purposefully making us look at those assumptions we make and some of y'all are failing an open-notes test.

I have to wonder if Sol is a Force empath, like Burryaga. He’s reminded multiple times not to confuse others’ emotions for his own (something I do on the daily) and he clearly forms strong connections quickly. How much more tragic does that make this, that he literally couldn’t help himself?
