“You have returned.” The simple sentence brought a smile to her face. After falling as ill as she had in the last round of illness to strike London he had been sent back for safety. And now, now he was here again standing before her. How they would proceed again though, she was unsure. “It makes me so very happy to see you in England once more.”
#alexander-helios#starters;;conversations#;;verse: historic love#//it's a little generic but I figure this way maybe it could go in all sorts of directions?

She recognized that look. Oh the well behaved prince had something up his sleeve, but what she wasn’t sure. Smirking at him, her bright red hair glowed in the warmth of the summer sun. “Alright, you have convinced me. Will you be accompanying me then to this Chateau of Anjou? After all, we both know how easily I get bored staying in a place alone for too long.”
“Oh, well, I can’t help you with that, I’m afraid.” He smiled softly at his friend, before biting his lip, his eyes shining with mischief. “Well, I might have somewhere for you: the Chateau of Anjou. It’s lovely, tranquil, and perfect for you to just forget about politics for a while.”

“And what is there left to say dear girl? Am I not still the daughter of la grande meretrice in your father’s eyes? Am I not still illegitimate in their eyes?” Elizabeth asked, a brow raised. No, she would not have her people live in fear again. She could not do that again. “I fear England has enjoyed and prospered in freedom away from Rome. But, for the sake of avoiding war, I will hear what he has to say.”

“Thanks, your Majesty.” Lucrezia lowered her head in a gesture of respect. “I hope, we will be able to talk about the relations between you and the Vatican and to keep up a … peaceful cooperation. My father, the pope, is not interested in war.”

Elizabeth smiled at the little prince, offering him a long finger to hold. “Do not tell your siblings but I think you shall be my favorite. Sweet little prince. He’s such a sweet boy already.”
“Of course you may.”
The baby began to babble as Catherine placed him on Elizabeth’s lap, staring up at the girl with wide eyes.

Grinning at the baby boy, she tapped his nose gently and looked up at Catherine. “May I hold him? I promise I will be most careful with him.”
Catherine smiled, watching as Hercule grasped onto Elizabeth’s finger.
“I do. He hasn’t taken his eyes off you since you came in.”

Quote
My loving people, We have been persuaded by some that are careful of our safety, to take heed how we commit our selves to armed multitudes, for fear of treachery; but I assure you I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people. Let tyrants fear. I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good-will of my subjects; and therefore I am come amongst you, as you see, at this time, not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live and die amongst you all; to lay down for my God, and for my kingdom, and my people, my honour and my blood, even in the dust. I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realm: to which rather than any dishonour shall grow by me, I myself will take up arms, I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field. I know already, for your forwardness you have deserved rewards and crowns; and We do assure you in the word of a prince, they shall be duly paid you. In the mean time, my lieutenant general shall be in my stead, than whom never prince commanded a more noble or worthy subject; not doubting but by your obedience to my general, by your concord in the camp, and your valour in the field, we shall shortly have a famous victory over those enemies of my God, of my kingdom, and of my people.
Elizabeth I’s Speech at Tilbury on the eve of the Spanish Armada’s Attempted Invasion of England, 1588. (via xaedificare)

"I am well enough now, thank you child." The queen smiled, her eyes exhausted. "I am glad to see you arrived here."

“Oh no, there’s no need for an excuse, Your Majesty! I hope you are doing better now”, Lucrezia replied friendly.
