I come across arguments from Nesta antis that they don't respect her, because 5 books later she still doesn't provide for herself. They do realize that Acotar world isn't a modern world, right?Women in this type of world typically get married and don't work unless they're poor.Feyre hunted to keep herself and her family alive, but when she became involved with Tamlin and later married Rhys, she never worked again.5 books later Nesta is mated to Cassian,a bond that equals and is in fact more serious than marriage and he will support her financially,as is natural for the mate of a wealthy, upper class male,in this type of society.
Nesta's education revolved around her becoming a good wife for a rich, upper class man. This is what women's education revolved around in theese type of societies, not them obtaining skills for the job market and becoming financially independent. When the family became poor, theese skills couldn't provide for them financially, unless their father moved them to a big city. There, she could perhaps use her homemaking skills, such as cooking and cleaning to find employment as a maid, but their father moved them to a small village, next to the fae lands, with few employment opportunities. This is why Feyre hunted, instead of doing a safer job.
Later, they became wealthy again and as the daughter of a rich man,she wasn't expected to work. When she became fae and depended on her sister financially she was in a really bad mental state and didn't function well enough to keep a job.
Nesta isn't useless, because she had the skills deemed appropriate for a woman by the society she was raised in.Were housewives of the past useless because they learnt how to cook and clean,as society saw fit and didn't pursue a higher education and got jobs that allowed them to be independent? It all boils down to women's social roles, which in Acotar are still very much traditional in both human and fae world.Acotar isn't Crescent City.

I’m sorry, but Rhysand saying “neither side was innocent” during the conversation with the mortal queens in ACOMAF, when the subject of fae enslaving humans was brought up, is one of the most egregious lines in the series — and it’s rarely discussed with the weight it deserves.
Let’s unpack that: he is speaking to a group of human women, representing the very group of people who were enslaved by fae for centuries, and when they bring up this long history of subjugation, torture, rape, and death, his response is to essentially say, “Well, both sides were bad.”
That is victim-blaming. That is revisionist history. That is colonialist rhetoric.
It’s no different than saying, “Well, the enslaved people fought back sometimes, so it wasn’t just the slavers who were wrong.” Rhysand, who wants to be painted as this morally enlightened, progressive High Lord, essentially minimizes the suffering of an entire species—the one his mate used to be a part of, no less—because acknowledging that the fae were uniquely cruel would be an inconvenient truth. He doesn’t show remorse. He doesn’t even offer an ounce of compassion.
Instead, he offers the oldest excuse in the book of abusers and empires: “It was mutual.”
No, it wasn’t. The fae were the enslavers. The humans were enslaved. Power imbalance matters. Scale and systems matter. And for Rhysand — who was alive during that time — to not only fail to acknowledge it, but dismiss it outright, is a massive moral failing.
What makes it worse is how it lines up with everything we’ve come to understand about how he views humans. Rhysand might love Feyre, but he doesn’t love humans. He doesn’t mourn their culture, their history, or what was taken from them. In fact, he only seems to acknowledge humans when it’s politically convenient (like trying to leverage Feyre’s mortal roots or the war). Otherwise, they’re an afterthought at best, disposable at worst.
And the fandom just…lets him get away with it.
There is no growth. No nuance. Just a man who calls himself “feminist” and “progressive” while upholding the very structures that oppressed entire peoples — and gaslighting them about it.
So yeah, “neither side was innocent”? I’m sorry, but what the actual fuck.

Someone reblogged a post that said :
‘throwing a fit everytime feyre's validly upset or mean to someone in the slightest but praising nest@ for being downright cruel at almost every turn (sometimes for no reason at all) is truly mind boggling to me’
Certain someone has been unfollowed.
Nesta being ‘cruel’ literally never happens. Mean, sure. But some of you need to open a dictionary and find what cruel actually means. Nesta’s mean moments and comments have been provoked 99% of the time. No one respects her or her boundaries.
Feyre, on the other hand, is arrogant and selfish and a lot of readers fail to see it. She gets mad at people, more specifically Nesta, because she doesn’t get what she wants.
Feyre has been neglected by her mother, yes absolutely. But when we look at her relationship with her father and the way she acts today, I have a theory that her childhood wasn’t just neglectful. It was actually permissive !
She was allowed to ask questions about business. She never had the pressure to marry. She could play outside as much as she wanted. If her sisters had tutors, then so did she.
Because if think about it, there is no reason why an 11 year old couldn’t read, when she was still wealthy at the time. Feyre probably didn’t want to attend those lessons and was allowed not to.
And all of that is translated in her behavior today. No one tells Feyre no, even her father gets brushed off when he does. She always gets her way and does whatever she wants. And since she is now mated to someone who acts like the world revolves around her, it’s not going to change.
When you really look at it, the only person who’s ever told her no without repercussions is Elain. Because Elain was just as spoiled and she says no, it means no.
Then we have Nesta. And when Nesta says no, it’s no… for now. Deep down, Feyre knows it. That’s why she pushes her sister and fights with her so much.
Everyone has to live according to Feyre’s needs and desires. Rhys even orders them to.
Nesta just has to bend to the rules.
It’s ‘you’re my sister’ when it comes to getting Nesta to move into Feyre’s house or coming to Solstice. But it’s never ‘she’s my sister’ to the friends who keep insulting and even threatening Nesta in front of Feyre. And what does that say about Feyre as a sister?
It’s all the noticing Mor and Cassian’s weird relationship. Witnessing first hand them exchanging underwear in front of Nesta and ignoring it and then forcing Nesta to live with a man she clearly said she wanted nothing to do with. Something Feyre would never force Elain to do.
And while I’m on it. How about Lucien too? Feyre is so self-centered, she doesn’t even notice that Lucien before UTM and after are two different people. That he is traumatized. But in ACOMAF she was all ‘boo-hoo’ you gave up on me.
Lucien helped her during her first trial and got whipped for it. Still, he risked his life coming to her cell and she had the audacity to complain he was late. To put the blame for the bargain SHE accepted on him. And then he was used as bait for the second trial.
He tried to talking ti Tamlin and he brought Feyre to one of the villages where she noticed first hand that people didn’t want her help.
But if it doesn’t fit her rhetoric, then she points the finger at others. And that makes her validly upset?
She drags Lucien around like a pet and he also gets bullied by the NC while she says nothing and enjoys the show.
I suppose that’s the thing with 1st person pov, readers gets fooled by one person’s opinion and don’t look at the bigger picture.
Nesta was downright cruel? Based on which part of the book? Apart from the ones where Feyre or Cassian make assumptions about her that she proved wrong over and over again.
Cruel to who ?
Rhysand ? He’s the one who has repeatedly threatened her and the worst she said about him was that he was an arrogant and preening asshole.
Morrigan ? She’s the one who threatened Nesta for merely asking where Cassian was. Who brushed her off when she tried to visit his tent. Who told her she would have chosen to dump her in the human lands. All while Nesta just stood/sat there not responding.
Amren? You want to talk about cruelty, point the finger at the Night Court’s second. For how she speaks not only to Nesta, but to everyone else.
Cassian? She was never mean enough. And canonically, Nesta had only ever reduced him to his birth in a bonus chapter from book 2. You want to know what happens canonically? Cassian pushes her boudaries, insults her at times and she ignores him, gives him a look or even leaves the room. And then he assumes what she is thinking which, after reading her point of view you’d know, he is always very wrong about. What happens canonically is Cassian getting mad at Nesta because he feels entitled to her because of a stupid mating bond.
As for Elain and Feyre, THEY made Nesta’s trauma about themselves. They decided to act in a way that wasn’t helpful to Nesta but to them.
They had to ask themselves whether or not to help Nesta at the end of ACOWAR (Feyre was no, btw). They chose to be mad at her for not coming around the house more often, not coming to dinner (Elain didn’t attend any dinners until after the war) but not seeing that Nesta only agreed/ wanted to see them and not the IC (valid reasons listed above).
Feyre thought that Nesta saying she was at taverns for the music was an excuse. Elain didn’t think to mention Nesta’s passion for dancing until a year and a half after she’d begun destroying herself. Feyre said she’d forgotten about this (because once again, it does nothing for her so why would she remember).
Just like she forgot about her sister’s fear of baths. Just like she forgot Nesta was the one who tried to rescue her but still commented that her sister would only cross the wall for Elain.
Feyre crying upon hearing the bill was heartbreaking, sure. No one wants to hear about someone you love destroying themselves. But she is at fault for a lot of things and this post is already long enough.
Nesta gets mad at people who are disrespectful to her. Feyre gets mad at people for not doing what she wants. That’s the difference, sweetheart !

There's way too much discussion about whether or not Nesta is mean to Feyre with or without provocation. It doesn't matter if Nesta is the meanest bitch in the world to Feyre without provocation. It still doesn't make her nearly as problematic as Feyre.
People want to talk about Nesta's "victims," but Feyre's victims number in the hundreds or even the thousands. Feyre harms innocents like it's her favorite thing to do. She ruins people's lives like it's her favorite thing to do. If Nesta's worst crime is being mean then that's not that bad.
People want to hate Nesta for telling Feyre the dangers of her pregnancy out of spite, yet Feyre destroyed an entire court out of spite. If we have to choose which Archeron sister does the worst things out of spite...it's Feyre. If the worst thing Nesta does out of spite is tell the truth then that's not that bad.
Nesta being mean to Feyre is not more problematic than Feyre murdering innocents, causing an innocent guard to be whipped, using Lucien to make Tamlin jealous, destroying an entire court, torturing Ianthe, benefitting Hybern on the cusp of war, displacing innocents out of their homes in the Spring Court, sexually assaulting the CoN, burning the LoA, sexually assaulting the people of Velaris, building her fifth mansion while the people of her city are struggling, and displacing innocents out of their homes in Velaris.
People want to talk about Nesta's "treatment" of Feyre, but she treats Feyre a lot better than Rhysand does. Nesta has never forced Feyre to wears clothes she was uncomfortable in; she's never drugged and sexually assaulted Feyre; she's never twisted a bone in Feyre's arm until she agreed to a bargain; and she's never withheld life-threatening information from Feyre.
If Feyre can forgive Rhysand for his treatment of her, if Feyre can forgive herself for her treatment of others, then she can most certainly forgive Nesta for being mean.

@nestaarcheronweek | Day 05: Mother
''Yes, they’d have to figure out what to do with the entire Dread Trove now that they possessed all three objects. How Nesta had summoned it despite the spells Helion had placed on the other two … He’d think of that another day. Along with the fact that she’d stopped Time with the Harp. And that she seemed to have some sort of connection—or understanding—with the Mother. The Mother.'' - ACOSF.
Even after A Court of Silver Flames, there is still much about Nesta's powers that is a mystery to us, and SJM herself has told Nesta journey has only beggan. Me and @lady-embers believe that her connection to Mother will be addressed in the upcoming books, and one theory that  we particularly like is that The Mother was responsible for giving Nesta her connection to the Starborns, and Nesta will eventually rule the Dusk Court. In this art, we sought to represent the moment when this happens, with Gwydion choosing Nesta as his rightful owner and an eight-pointed star tattoo shining on her skin.
Thank you so much @/thesleepingfoxy for creating this masterpiece of Nesta for us!

@nestaarcheronweek Day 3 - True North
Tumblr media
One of my favorite parts of ACOSF is seeing Nesta come into her own as a warrior. She’s collected some titles along the way — Valkyrie, Oristian, Lady Death — and I think her path is going to continue taking her to new heights in combat. With Cassian, the Valkyries, Ataraxia, and the Trove at her side, she’s a force to be reckoned with throughout Prythian (and maybe beyond?).
Thank you to the amazing @shakioo for creating this fanart! Doing this series of Valkyrie art with you has been so much fun!!

I thought the point of ACOSF was for Nesta to heal into a version of herself that the IC approved of, but in HOFAS they still don't like her, so what, exactly, did ACOSF accomplish?
I feel like any good that came out of that book was ripped to shreds in HOFAS. Nesta still isn't healed as we see her lost and spiraling back into that pit of despair. She still isn't happy. Nessian aren't in a good place as Cassian still can't stick up for Nesta, and he still won't defend and protect her. Worse, Nesta no longer feels safe around Cassian because she either thinks he'll harm her directly or that he won't stop harm from coming to her. Nezriel aren't in a good place since Az clearly won't lift a finger to protect Nesta from execution. Nesta and Rhys still hate each other, and he still wants her dead, even though he's only alive because of her. Nesta still isn't getting along with Feyre and Elain (which isn't surprising since she's the only one owning up to anything. Elain and Feyre are shit sisters who need to own up to it rather than constantly putting the blame of their failed relationship on Nesta). Nesta still isn't getting along with the IC, she's still asserting that she's not a part of the Night Court, and it's not her home. So what did the almost-700 page book accomplish?
I do think everything is setting the stage for Nesta to find out she's Starborn and reawaken the Dusk Court, but why couldn't she have opted for the human lands or try to seek refuge in another court for her book? The only thing that wasn't ruined in HOFAS was Gwyn and Emerie, but why couldn't they have been females that she met outside of the Night Court, away from the IC? When it comes to the IC, the only thing ACOSF accomplished was all the parallels between Tamlin's treatment of Feyre and the IC's treatment of Nesta, and Lucien/Cassian's complicity. So was the point of the book to start an arc to challenge the IC?

so if it's anyone else it's abuse but if it's Rhysand it isn't? this is the logic we're dealing with?
