“there’s a specialty within the classics department,” he confirmed with a nod. “i’m actually well-acquainted with one of the professors there. i, ah— i take it you’re first-year, then?” logan was not intent on being presumptuous, but he had heard similar words spoken from the students in his introductory classes, comprised primarily of underclassmen. “and i wish you the best of luck with writing all of the papers and exams.” he nibbled at the tip of the chocolate-covered biscuit, his saliva getting caught in his throat at the moment she voiced her confusion. coughing lightly, he stammered to explain, “oh, i— yes… i— that was a jest… not a very good one, might i add, so there’s— it’s no issue that it didn’t come across as one.”

"there is? that sounds pretty cool--i might have to check it out!" aurora exclaimed with a grin gracing her lips as she nodded her head. she wasn't even surprised at how easily one can decode that she's a freshman. perhaps, because she still looks at everything with excitement. "thank you, sir!" only when he began to explain did she realize that he meant the pocky stick, which also made her own cheeks flush a little in embarrassment for not quickly processing the jest. "oh no--it's not you, it's me. i mean, i'm not very good at that kind of stuff and i'm a little slow so there's that," she added with nervous chuckle as she munched on her own biscuit.

“constellation,” logan repeated, nodding once. “i’m almost ashamed to admit that i’m not as familiar with greek mythology as i probably ought to be. is that what you’re on campus for? greek studies?” his eyes never once left the night sky. the longer he looked, the more did he wish he had similar knowledge to follow along. “i believe it’s the timing. many students are given at least a few days to write a single paper or study for one test; meanwhile, the professors must prepare the materials then review them for grading.” his brow furrowed as he took note of the box. realizing its actual contents, he reached out and picked out one of the biscuits, holding it up and joking, “now i don’t make a habit of smoking, but perhaps this one time wouldn’t hurt.”

"there's a major for that? i wasn't even aware!" rory exclaimed a little too loudly than what was appropriate before shaking her head. "and no, i'm actually majoring on english students. so far, so good--but who knows? i should have just taken general education because i really don't know what i want to do yet," she continued to babble on, always sharing more than what was being asked of her. she's always been pretty open after all. "oohhh--you do get it hard as well. i wish you the best of luck in grading those papers and exams." when he reached out to pick a stick from the box, her own brows furrowed a little when he held it up and said something about smoking. "smoking? why so? that's just a chocolate covered stick," aurora pointed out to him, a little slow to process his joke.

noelia gave a nod of her head as the girl spoke. it was something to perhaps look up on later on. she laughed lightly when the girl had given her a thumbs up, “well thank you.” she sort of shrugged, giving a so-so motion with her hand. “kinda. but having passion for things is always nice. hah, dysfunctional? well that’s definitely relatable.” her eyes flickered down towards her sketchbook at the sound of the blonde’s question. “oh, this? just some designs i’m working on.” she lifted the book to show the blonde. “had some ideas floating in my head, i’m a fashion major.”

every family is kind of dysfunctional in their own way nowadays though, aren't they? nonetheless, she wasn't about to pry as she just focused her attention back to the other girl's sketchbook. though from where she was sitting, she can't exactly see what she was drawing. so, when she held it up to show her, aurora leaned a little forward to look closer since even with her glasses on, she can't really see it all that well. but once she did, she ended up exclaiming, "oh that is lovely! are you gonna be adding fabrics and such to that as well?"

{ ♛.  “ — I didn’t expect it to be this hot,” she admitted. She was used to the weather in South Korea, and in Colorado. Yeah, there were some hot months, but this was October. It should be cooling off some. “Probably not, but I’m tempted to do it anyways.”

"i came here last summer so i've kind of expected it already," rory supplied with a shrug of her shoulders. when she mentioned that it was probably not allowed, the blonde's eyes widened a little. "but you might get kicked out of the university? would you really be willing to risk that?"

“yes. she may be named after the stars, but her personality is far more akin to something such as — let’s say, a box of firecrackers.” although his voice shook with the slightest hint of restrained laughter, there was no mistaking how it was underlined with admiration. he stared in the silence for a moment longer, allowing the night to cool the sting in his eyes, not minding how long he had remained in that exact stance until her question. “i beg your pardon? ah, yes, i— it’s—” letting out a sigh and shaking his head, he looked down toward her then finished simply, “midterm season.”

"constellation--" aurora corrected with a grin, unable to stop herself from doing so. "cassiopeia is a constellation and from the sound of it, it seems like she has been named after the right queen. because cassiopeia, in greek mythology, is definitely a firecracker," the blonde babbled on as her eyes wandered back to the beautiful night sky above them. though when he answered her question, she couldn't help but answer, "and here i thought we're the only one who gets tired during this season." stretching out her box of pocky sticks towards him, she offered, "do you want one? you look like you need it."

"that is zeus indeed and hera is the scorned wife trying to ruin the life of the women he slept with. and what do you mean there's no electricity up there? what does that have to do with anything?" the wide-eyed blonde questioned, completely lost as to what he was on about. "did you mean astronomy? but no--i just like stars and constellations and greek mythology."

another stack of midterms, another late night in his office. he had finally finished going through each one— all two hundred plus pamphlets, and wished for nothing more than the comfort of his bedsheets. after massaging his eyelids, he moved to quickly lock all of his belongings and head home. through his walk, he remained in a half-daze. this remained until a burst of energy from nearby. “i’ll be very honest with you. for a moment there, i was thinking that you were calling out to one of my dearest friends; her name is cassiopeia.” he refrained from drawing closer to that who had caught his attention. his eyes traveled upward as he finally noticed the view above, to which he spoke softer, “quite a sight in the sky tonight…”

it was one of those times when she didn't realize just how loud she was being once more that she managed to grab the attention of someone passing by. with confusion present on her features, a slight chuckle escaped her lips as she inquired, "but why would you think that your friend is hanging down? does she normally do those kind of acrobatic tricks?" peering upwards to the man as she straightened her legs down, she observed, "you look really tired--are you okay?" but his statement did make her nod her head all too eagerly as her own blue hues darted back to the sky above them. "it really is a magnificent view--"

☆*.:｡. ana looked up into the night when the girl pointed out the constellation. her head tilted to the side ever so slightly, brows furrowing as she concentration. within a minute, the brunette let out a distinctive huff. “ i don’t get it. ” she muttered, her bottom lip sticking out in a small pout. “ i don’t see how anything up there looks like someone hanging upside down. it just looks like a mess to me. ”

since she's been so fascinated with constellations and the storied behind them ever since she was a young girl, picturing them came quite easy to her now. what she didn't realize was that it wasn't the same for everyone else. pursing her lips a little as she thought of a better way to explain it, the blonde exhaled a sigh as she turned to the other girl. "you'd probably have to see the picture first to get it better--"

I’ve had experiences with what so many other women have faced and I was dealing with that as recently as a year ago. It feels like overnight everything has taken such a huge shift, which is so amazing. I feel safer when I walk on set and I feel safer when I’m talking to producers. I feel safer when I’m talking to directors. I know the problem isn’t solved, but I think it’s a really exciting time to be a woman in any industry in the US.
