Logitech MX Master

As someone who spends an inordinate amount of time editing at a computer, a mouse becomes a very important tool. It is safe to say I have never owned a mouse quite as consistent and successful as the Logitech MX Master. It has loads of features – multiple customizable buttons, horizontal and vertical scrolling, an additional thumbpad – is incredibly durable – I’ve had mine for two years – and, most importantly, is relatively inexpensive for a high-end mouse.

What I’ve Got: Shure SM57

The Shure SM57 is probably the most durable and versatile microphone ever made. It was originally designed in 1957 for classical music, but has been used most widely for live concerts - specifically micing drum kits and guitar amps. It is eventhe microphone on the lectern at the White House! In many ways, the SM57 is the ideal microphone; it is highly directional, not sensitive to sharp attacks, and (almost most importantly) very inexpensive.

What I’ve Got: Magma Sketchbook

Few things have defined my college experience as much as my Magma Sketchbooks; for the past two years, every class, every project, and every job has gotten it’s own. It is simply the greatest notebook I’ve ever owned. For starters the construction is highly durable, with nicely thick pages and well-tied sections. The jacket is bendable but firm, allowing the notebook to be used in various positions while maintaining its general shape. The page layout changes with each style, so I will only talk about the “Design & Art Direction” model, being the one I use most frequently. The book begins with a very nice table of contents and continues alternating between one gridded page and five blank pages up until the 120th page. To round out the book, the last fifteen pages at are full of useful charts and information relevant to design and art direction, including average heights of people, units of measurement, and various tables and charts. Every little detail of this book has been thought out, even the inside of the front cover has three different rulers on it.

Endline – A Better Soccer App
There are a whole bunch of fantastic soccer-centric news apps. All of them, however, are either league-based, team-based, or just display scores and nothing else. There are apps like ESPN that aim to present broad amounts of information, but they are not very focused and often overwhelm the user. Endline, however, exists in the middle ground between too little and too much information.
The home page is highly customizable, displaying any three teams, leagues, or countries. Within these three departments, the top three stories are highlighted, but one can scroll to reveal more. Above the ‘story’ section related scores are displayed; the score bar also scolls to reveal more pertinent information.
Clicking on one of the highlighted stories, expands it into a brief, four-page article, spotted with images and related stories, making for an easy and quick reading experience with plenty of visuals and related information.
