Am I the only one who feels like, Asuka's overall character and design peaked with T5 and T6? Like, look at how beautiful, distinct and expressive her character model looks in T6, despite some of the muddy textures it brought to the table.
Sure, T5 Asuka, this is the definition of "iconic", and you don't even need to see it from many angles, her body language, her voice, her posing, that is oozing with confidence, etc. THIS is Asuka to me, and why I grew to love here (I dare some of you motherfuckers to use the G word, all because I just so happen to compliment a girl, that was designed with the clear intent of appealing to people like me, you will see what happens):
And all these traits, that we have borne witness to in the clips, carries firmly over to T6, and there, in my opinion, is where Asuka was at her peak. On EVERY level. Let me run it down:
The smugness...
The confidence...
The top-dog attitude...
...and her smile.
I will say it, Asuka's T6 iteration looks the best, sounds the best, and plays the best, too.
Sure, you can write me off as a grade A level simp of her, and I will not blame anyone for thinking this, but you have to take into consideration, since this is exactly how the Tekken dev team treats anyone, that doesn't have the word "Mishima" in their name:
Kazamas get no respect or love from them. And they are said to be the anti-thesis to the Mishimas. And, at least to me, Asuka is the ruling queen of the term "Wasted Potential".
And with time, not only did the character models look progressively worse (safe for Tag 2, because who can say No to her face here):
...but Asuka just lost all that sauce the most, too. If you think Paul and Law got it bad, allow me to remind you, THIS is how Asuka looked in T7:
...What the hell is this? This looks like hot garbage, she looks not only super generic, with little to no facial expression to be found here, let alone anything that defines and links her to her Kazama heritage, along with Jun Kazama, she just feels so vapid and soulless here. Even if I do like her outfit, the rest looks frankly like TRASH.
But boy, did they have a bit of a redemption arc in T8, because, not only do we get updated character models, with Asuka looking the BEST, might I add, because BOY, THIS is a comeback if I have ever seen one:
But we also get, an upgraded version of her hakama design, which is something I will praise, whoever decided to go this route with her, design-wise, to the HEAVENS. All fanservice thoughts aside, to me, Asuka just looks the absolute best, when she dresses the closest to what her character is supposed to represent. A Kazama. A shrine priestess, living to repress all evil influences. She is a tomboy, but doesn't lose sight of the fact that, she is still a maiden, at the end of the day. And this new hakama design truly speaks to me:
This is the definition of a serious glow-up. Sure, the others look hella fine, too, but Asuka, for me, takes the definitive cake here. She is back to looking more like, you know, ASUKA. And she gets a new hakama design upgrade. What the hell? This is more than I could have possibly asked for.
...If only the rest of T8 was any good now, at this rate.
And even if the writing failed her, at the very least, she will go down with some form of dignity still in-tact, and I am glad, someone saw through the dev's team nonsense, and gave Asuka her due in SOME way.
PEACE.

Fahkumram eh? Yeah that tracks. Could've been worse in my opinion, maybe Tekken 8 will give him better story to make him more interesting.
