Successes and failures: Throughout the years, I have had surgeries that were successful, while I also had others that did not attain success. In the first scenario (success), I suffered, but the outcome made the sufferings worthwhile. On the other hand, I went through the pains related to surgery for nothing when the surgery failed. —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

Our world is bombarded by war-based and natural disasters we have no control over. When these disasters hit home, they often turn our lives upside down. It is easy to become unravel and lose who we are in the process. Another option is to ride out these storms of life, with a positive attitude in hopes of a better tomorrow. The majority of the time, we do come out of it stronger and wiser, as we learn from each painful step. Letting go and letting God carry us through the challenging times may be one of the wisest decisions we can take in times of hardships. —Broken to be Blessed by Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

God is always there to hear anyone who calls out for His help, especially when things become overwhelming to the point of giving up. It works for me and everyone else who dares to try. I went through mind-shattering trials that I would not be able to overcome on my own. I had to turn to God, who is greater than the most horrific life tragedy I or anyone could ever go through. And, when I come to my lowest of lows and barely have any strength left in me, a simple “help me” to God is amply sufficient. —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

My advice to everyone facing any type of trials is to let go and let God. When we turn to Him, as we relinquish the reign to Him, He then takes action to bring us out of our dark spots in life. Taking our concentration off of our tragedies, and even laugh it off, may alleviate the accompanying stress from our trials, as we wait on God to intervene. Personally, I find a little humor to be the perfect medicine. I find humor in horror. —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

Depression is a disorder that narrows the person’s point of view about their life and future. In other words, their outlook on life is so limited, because of the seeming magnitude of their situation, they feel as though the only solution to their problem is to end their lives. However, there is someone who is able to turn any situation around for the better. God is always there to hear anyone who calls out for His help, especially when things become overwhelming to the point of giving up. —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

God is so attentive that He heard and answered my prayer for a mate, like the exchange student. He went beyond that in giving me someone who has qualities that would enrich my life, as well as spare me some heartaches along the way. Meeting my husband John was no coincidence; it was rather a divine moment arranged by God Himself. He did not give me what I thought I wanted; He gave me what I needed. Thank God for unanswered prayers! —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

A lot of people have the mentality that people with disability can’t think for themselves, they don’t have the same dreams. It’s kinda annoying. You continually have to prove yourself. And it goes with everything… job, friendship. A disability is a disability, but the dreams are the same. —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso

On the day of graduation, as all of us graduates were walking into the convention center, I had chills. Although my husband, sisters, and I made the trip to Minnesota, the reality of reaching that goal didn’t fully hit me until that very moment. I thought “Wow, God you really made it happen for me”. Another life milestone God had carried me through to completion! —Broken to be Blessed, Louise Beaubrun-Macaluso
