Synchronicity
by Chris Mackey This book explores the phenomenon of synchronicity, or uncanny and meaningful coincidence, and describes how it can relate to finding our optimal life direction. Chris Mackey is a clinical psychologist with 35 years? experience and a Fellow of The Australian Psychological Society. Gradually his own experiences and those of his patients led him to become increasingly convinced of the importance and power of synchronicity in our lives. The book explores what synchronicity is, how it manifests itself and how we can tap into its power using principles consistent with positive psychology. Chris draws on personal anecdotes and numerous case studies to illustrate how exploring synchronicity is a useful and practical way of drawing on our deep intuition. He also describes how synchronicity relates to what we have learnt from quantum physics, claiming that it is neither unscientific nor superstitious to believe that certain coincidences go well beyond random chance. The Ecocritical Psyche
Tumblr media
by Susan Rowland  (Author) The Ecocritical Psyche: Literature, Evolutionary Complexity and Jung by Susan Rowland Amazon.com: Books - http://amzn.to/1GpojNU The Ecocritical Psyche unites literary studies, ecocriticism, Jungian ideas, mythology and complexity evolution theory for the first time, developing the aesthetic aspect of psychology and science as deeply as it explores evolution in Shakespeare and Jane Austen. In this book, Susan Rowland scrutinizes literature to understand how we came to treat 'nature' as separate from ourselves and encourages us to re-think what we call 'human.' By digging into symbolic, mythological and evolutionary fertility in texts such as The Secret Garden, The Tempest, Wuthering Heights and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the book argues that literature is where the imagination, estranged from nature in modernity, is rooted in the non-human other. The Ecocritical Psyche is unique in its interdisciplinary expansion of literature, psyche, science and myth. It develops Jungian aesthetics to show how Jung's symbols correlate with natural signifying, providing analytical psychology with a natural home in ecocritical literary theory. The book is therefore essential reading for seasoned analysts and those in training as well as academics involved in literary studies and Jungian psychology. Read the full article

Evvie Drake Starts Over: A Novel
by Linda Holmes  (Author) From the host of NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast comes a heartfelt debut about the unlikely relationship between a young woman who?s lost her husband and a major league pitcher who?s lost his game."A quirky, sweet, and splendid story of a woman coming into her own." Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & The SixIn a sleepy seaside town in Maine, recently widowed Eveleth, Evvie Drake rarely leaves her large, painfully empty house nearly a year after her husband?s death in a car crash. Everyone in town, even her best friend, Andy, thinks grief keeps her locked inside, and Evvie doesn't correct them. Meanwhile, in New York City, Dean Tenney, former Major League pitcher and Andy?s childhood best friend, is wrestling with what miserable athletes living out their worst nightmares call the yips?: he can?t throw straight anymore, and, even worse, he can't figure out why. As the media storm heats up, an invitation from Andy to stay in Maine seems like the perfect chance to hit the reset button on Dean's future. When he moves into an apartment at the back of Evvie's house, the two make a deal: Dean won?t ask about Evvie's late husband, and Evvie won't ask about Dean?s baseball career. Rules, though, have a funny way of being broken?and what starts as an unexpected friendship soon turns into something more. Read the full article
