I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.
For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.
I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.

The thing about AOS Bones is that him sneaking Jim onto the Enterprise in the first movie is such a balls out insane move I immediately became obsessed with him. What even was going on in his head is a mystery for the ages, lol. Cause like, at that point obviously they knew something was up or they wouldn’t all be warping off at the drop of a hat, but they had no reason to suspect it was literally world-ending shit, nor that they’d all be fucked without the kid on academic suspension.
So you know, he’s a doctor, he’s a cadet, he’s got no idea about time-traveling Romulans or red matter or whatever, he’s got a lot to lose and really nothing to gain. But Jim was sad so he, unprompted, decided to risk serious academic and possibly legal consequences because???
He folds like wet paper when Jim has a genuine emotion? Or he genuinely does live for the chaos, so that he can complain about the chaos. The crazier the better, because he can really vent his spleen. He wants to play the beleaguered straight man in the midst of wacky circumstances so bad that he decides to go to beloathed outer space and hitch his wagon to a wild card. 🩵 Kermit energy. I love him. I want to study him like a bug.
Alternatively, if this were the other big Star Something property, he’d fr be force-sensitive.

The key to understanding Leonard McCoy is that he only ACTS like he hates everyone and everything. Underneath that sarcastic abrasive middle aged man is a fundamental love for living creatures, desire to help others so strong that he made a career of it and a respect for the simple joys, which occasionally show their face when he's turning on the southern charm for a woman or offering to sacrifice himself to save a patient. I mean, you'd probably be a bit grumpy too if your marriage ended and you were stuck in space (a place you hate) trying to stop your best friends getting themselves killed when you could be spending time with your daughter. He's not surly and outspoken because he doesn't care, he's surly and outspoken precisely because he cares so much and yes, that has got him hurt before and probably will again but dammit, he's not going to let that stop him being what he is - an old country doctor who will do anything he can to help people. I love his sardonic witty banter as much as anyone but I think the real reason we take him into our hearts is because despite his complaining he's arguably the most down-to-earth, no-nonsense character in TOS and deep down we all admire his simple selfless dedication to caring for others. Never change, Bones.

How many times do you think Amanda Grayson, wife of Sarek, said “Well, bless your heart” on Vulcan without anyone understanding what she really meant.
And one day, Spock says it, using it correctly, to someone who’s being a pain in the ass and Bones chokes on air?

Trans people are an important part of the autistic community and have a right to access the health care they need. See more in our 2016 statement with the National LGBTQ Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality.

One thing I don't think the Spoon metaphor has helped able-bodied people understand is that you can overdraw.
Generally, for most conditions, running out of spoons doesn't mean you collapse, doesn't produce an effect they can actually see. What it means is that you run on life support, quite possibly unsafely, until you get to a safe place and can stop. But you'll owe those spoons back, with interest. You'll have hurt yourself to do it.
Sometimes I hang out with a friend and they'll be like, wow, I'm really glad you had a good day. And I have to decide whether to make them feel bad by explaining that in fact they did not catch me on a good day, and tomorrow will probably be bad. I just made choices.

i learned of “Box beds” – cabinets with beds in them and, sometimes, lockable doors – were used for privacy and safety in parts of rural medieval Europe before individual bedrooms were common. They became fashionable even in homes with bedrooms and remained in use in Scotland into the 1900s (x)

Do you ever just sit in your room alone and feel at peace? I'm not lonely, but I am alone and it's quiet and just lovely. I don't have to mask, I don't have to speak, it's just comfortable and I love it.

Am I the only one who feels like there's an overlooked sexism on the fascination of if Lark is Normal and Hero's bio dad?? I don't like Rebecca but way to throw her under the bus, I guess. Lark sleeping with Rebecca, especially MORE THAN ONCE, has major implications about all three characters that just get brushed off. Is Sparrow that much of a pushover? Is Lark that much of a dick? Is Rebecca that...I don't even know what adjective to put here. Lark doesn't have to be a bio dad to be a parental figure, for god's sake, it's so uninteresting and dumb.
Can we also have identical twins without there being weird sex shenanigans for once, please?

the fact that the 5 fully unique mostly functioning adults that are Sparrow, Lark, Grant, Terry Jr, and Nick are referred to on this site as "kiddads" is really funny to me. Imagine if you were called a childult because you were at one point a kid and now are an adult is a ludicrous concept.

Some of u guys have takes on the twins that I truly don’t understand… like they absolutely don’t fall in line with the way Henry raised his kids? Maybe I’m silly but Henry oak pushed so hard for self acceptance, diversity, acceptance of others, being kind, being yourself- but I see some twin hcs like ‘oh they could never be themselves’ ‘they felt a pressure to be someone they’re not’ and I’m like. Did you hear Henry. Say anything.
