Some things you can do right now to help dismantle fatphobia-

Don’t use fat as a negative word or thin as a good one.

Don’t engage in pro-diet talk. 

Don’t make assumptions about people based on their weight. 

Stop assuming fat people are unhealthy.

Don’t hold up “health” as the be all of everything- esp when it means “not fat”.

Stop using the word “obesity”- size is not a disease.

Don’t concern troll fat people.

Acknowledge that fat people get eating disorders too.

Demand an end the bullying of fat kids- which means an end to the fear mongering around “childhood obesity”.

Demand positive fat representation in media. 

Don’t tell fat jokes or laugh at them. 

Hold your faves responsible for their fatphobia. 

Boost the voices of fat activists. 

Support fat artists & creators.

Support & defend the fat women who speak out about fatphobia & get attacked ALL the time. 

BELIEVE FAT PEOPLE.

There are things EVERYONE can do to move the needle on fatphobia. You can start doing them NOW.

can you guys hear yourselves? we are human beings. part of being in relationships (including friendships) with each other means looking after each other. we are responsible for each other. I look after your emotional needs when you need it, and you look after mine. sometimes things will be difficult and sometimes they’ll be outside my paygrade, and I’m allowed to step back from that. but you have to stop acting like it’s some massive toxic imposition on you to have to listen to someone talk about their feelings

when I was a little kid at some point I got upset with my parents because I didn't have a crucifix in my bedroom and they did- I was like why do YOU get to be safe from vampires??? you're okay with me getting my blood sucked???? so we took a little trip to the catholic store but the one closest to us was run by a group of nuns that had been moved here from romania. I got a little baby pink cross and this sweet old nun was like 'aww, is this a baptism gift?' and I was like no. I need to be protected from vampires. and she immediately got SO serious and was like 'this is the best one we've got, you'll definitely be safe' and since she was literally from vampire land I was convinced she was like, van helsing. like the whole time my parents had been laughing about how cute my fear was but she literally Knew dracula and was taking my concerns seriously I held this over my parents for so long lmfao

i saw some thread on xitter with some dude asking why drag queens "want to be around children so much" re: story hours and all the replies were either predictably disgusting or very defensive but not a single goddamn one of them answered the question so i will help in case anyone ever asks you this incredibly stupid question: they are clowns!! drag queens are just clowns!! they put on extremely silly makeup and huge wigs and bright clothes and do over-the-top performances that make people laugh and smile and sometimes cry. that is the definition of a clown. they like to perform for children because they are a type of clown and children are great audiences and it is not any deeper than that. god damn.
