Hey I just want to say that neurodivergent people who don’t stim are 100% valid. There’s a lot of talk of how we have to be, and it might feel weird or even invalidating of you don’t do something or have a symptom that it seems like most others do. But neurodivergency is varied, so is the human experience. Just because you don’t personally do something that’s associated with your neurodivergency doesn’t make your identity less real. This doesn’t apply to just stimming, but any “symptom” that’s seen as common or even stereotypical for your type of neurodivergence.

I asked my friend this but I thought I'd ask Tumblr this too
Why do Neurotypical people don't like infodumping?
Because me, Kiddo, and Husband were discussing habits and quirks we have that are endearing and cute but also a bit weird/annoying in some way (like Kiddo's little idle animation sounds and actions)
And infodumping came up and we all agreed that we love when someone infodumps on us, even if we can't follow what they are saying at all, because we understand what it means.
Infodumping is basically someone saying "I love this thing and I like you enough to share my excitement and happiness about this by talking about it at you"
We understand that it's a bonding activity.
And we genuinely don't understand why NTs don't like it? Like I'm aware that they don't but I don't know why?
So any insight on that would be appreciated

i tried to educate someone on autism so i'm proud of myself for that. (i replied to their instagram story saying that autism is not an illness and not a disorder when they posted a small dog big dog meme where the small dog is soviet psychiatrists saying that "adults can't have autism" and them misdiagnosing autistic people with schizophrenia and the big dog saying that "asd and schizophrenia are different illnesses" and "you can't diagnose patients with asd with schizophrenia". i was really frustrated when i saw it but very anxious to say something. but i did! still very anxious tho)
Yo!! I’m proud of u!! It’s understandable that you were/are anxious. But you frickin did it!❣️ go u friend!!

Can u be autistic if u didnt show communication sx as a child? I was able to make eye contact, show emotion, understand jokes, was imaginative & decently affectionate. I lined things up & had trouble making friends, plus was pretty independent. Showed more sx as got older, like 9-10 it was pretty visible. I was hsed since grade 3 so its hard to tell cuz I dont talk to other people much unless its over the internet. If I acted the way I do now as a child, though, I'd be labeled as autistic.
as with the previous ask, it's entirely possible to be autistic based on your description of communication – especially if you lined things up and wanted to do things independently from an early age . the part about being unable to do those skills is a widespread misconception – autistic people can do all of those things, it's more a matter of how natural it follows the "normal" pattern of interaction, how much that pattern had to be learned, and how much it has to be forced
thinking it over, the best way i can explain it is that autistic people do show affection and communicate, they just naturally don't follow the "normal" pattern, and though there are similarities, there isn't one set way which all autistic people do those things. allistic people have different behaviors too, but rarely to the same extents and usually in a smaller amount of areas. we just do things in our own way, and that's alright :D

Disabled Person: (complains about struggles)
Ableist: "You're so negative! Can't you just be happy for once? The only disability in life is a bad attitude!"
Disabled Person: (is proud of who they are and doesn't want to be cured)
Ableist: "Quit glorifying disabilities! What about the low functioning disabled people who struggle?"
