A couple different things to note here. First off, this finish happened earlier than expected because just a few moments before this was shot, the heavens opened and a MAJOR rain storm hit. THAT means, they are going VERY fast on a VERY slick surface. Secondly, this was my first cycling event I have been to. I'll be going to more, that's for sure. Lastly (and my favorite), the woman that won this race is my favorite. She's fierce and she's 52. She out sprinted some young bucks and it was pretty incredible to watch. Laura Van Gilder. Saturday was so fun. #vbrcrit #roanokeoutside #roanoke #cycling #sprint (at Roanoke, Virginia)

Coming home to this would normally stress me out. But tonight, it's a reminder of the incredible friends I have, the immensely talented people I serve with, and the humble hearts that I get to do this life with. Tonight was a good night. #vscocam #vsco #redbull #frenchpress #zevia #gushers #roanoke

Mathew was just working his 9-5 job when the greatest calling for his life walked by. And then he stood up and followed. How ordinary yet extraordinary at the same time.

What a beautiful and poignant reminder. I will be listening to this message frequently. Thank you @hollyfurtick for speaking hope and life but also challenging my perspective and mindset. (at Elevation Church - Roanoke)

Can I brag on my friends real quick? Brandon: He literally battled darkness today. But slayed it. It has been an honor to watch him grow into his leadership on and off the stage and how he just leads us all so well. Dan: Watching you play and listening to you play gives me sheer joy. Like happiness just radiates off of my face when you play. Your level of dedication and pursuit of excellence all while making sure we don't loose sight of what we are called to do is nothing short of inspiring. Lizzy: My God woman. I could listen to you call down Fire and slay demons while singing the bridge of Forever I Run every day. You constantly amaze me. I wish I had just one ounce of your anointing and gifting. I love you 3. You make me want to be so much better than I am. All photos taken by our INCREDIBLE Elevation ROA Photography team. #elevationroanoke #roanoke (at Elevation Church - Roanoke)

Momma. It makes me way to emotional to think about all that you have done for me and my brother. You have sacrificed so much for Josh and I. You've shown us since day 1 what love is and taught us how to love others in return. You worked your butt off for years so that we could be happy. We don't tell you thank you enough. I don't say I love you enough. You deserve more than just 1 day. Happy Mother's Day. Dinner's on me tonight. #vsco #vscocam #happymothersday

The strength of sacrifice.
A few disclaimers:
1. I am not a parent. I have never been divorced. I’ve never been involved in or knew anyone who was/is involved in a custody battle.
2. I am a 26 year old single woman who over analyzes everything including fictional characters whom you, oddly enough, love and care for. (That is for a whole other discussion on how our brains work, etc.)
3. Arizona has been my favorite since her first episode.
I feel like Arizona getting sole physical custody is not a surprise.
Both women have made some very big, very wrong, and very quick decisions.
But I think the moment that Arizona chose to help Jenny and walked out of that courtroom was the moment the judge decided it was Arizona’s win. To be able to give up the very thing you hold closest and dear to you to help someone else is a strength that not many have. The strength of sacrifice.
If you don’t understand this strength, it could look like she’s actually sacrificing Sofia, which is what Callie’s lawyer wanted the judge to think. But if you dig into the decision, you’ll see the call is hard, but the right one.
Like Arizona said, in that moment, Sofia was safe, loved, and healthy. There was a young girl and her daughter who weren’t. Arizona embodied pure love when she chose to safe that baby’s life.
My mother has sacrificed for me more than I can comprehend. She sacrificed a lot as well BECAUSE of me. I spent the first 13 years of my life at a babysitter. Meanwhile, my mother was literally working her fingers to the bone so that I could be safe, loved, and healthy. The strength of sacrifice.
I’m sure that my mom would have liked to have seen me learn how to ride a bike for the first time, or learn to swim, or climb my first tree, but she wasn’t there. She chose to make a good life for me. And that makes me so proud.
That my good friends, is at the heart of what Arizona was/is doing. And I can say the same about Callie. I don’t think she loves Sofia any more or less than what I said about Arizona above. BUT in the fire of deep sacrifice, Callie doesn’t have the same will that Arizona does. They are different people.
I hope this makes sense. If you have questions or want to add anything, feel free. But be nice. I want them to get back together just like everyone else.
The strength of sacrifice.
