The following two photographs are from a collection of final images from a product photography project. I wanted to work with a more contemporary product and I used the coloured pencils as an interesting graphical ground. There is a simplicity and gentleness in the striped tones, to compliment the freshness of the white illuminated with natural light.

I used the Air Pods as the centre focus, I wanted the layout of this image to appearstylish and interesting in composition and selected varied neutral and black tones to maintain simplicity but adding interest with varied surfaces. I considered how the natural light casted onto the surfaces and spent time working with the angles and positions of the props.

This is an image of South Gare, Teesport. My favourite part of this image is the bright vibrant colours picked up within the boats as I believe that it stops the image appearing too grey due to the tones in the sky and sea. I also like the contrast seen within the movement of the water where the shadows are formed, and how the image is framed at the top from the gentle tones of the clouds.

This is another image of South Gare. I feel that this image is successful due to the bright colours contrasting against the natural tones. I also like how I have worked with the depth of field, it makes the textures and netted forms within the crab pots become the point of focus.

This is a film image I took for my final first year project. This image represents the rows and rows of trees that were planted by the miners when the iron mines closed in 1924. A tree was planted to represent each miner who had worked there. I feel this image represents the origin of the woods as well as growth of the new trees that have settled themselves within the nature reserve over the years.

I wanted to express the dominating scale of the tree and an appreciation of its importance within the wood as one of the trees planted by the miners. I wanted to express the feeling of growth and movement over the years and chose this composition to highlight the branches as if they were travelling veins.

Within the woods there are natural pools that have formed and there is a calmness to these areas that almost feels like a place of remembrance. I wanted to capture this stillness by working with the reflection, symmetry and light.

This is an image taken from a series that I photographed for a fashion shoot for an online fashion based business. The brief was to produce a collection of images to promote their fashion range. This image was in response to the clients brief, they expressed an interest in producing an image that had the look of a front cover of a magazine.

This image is part of the same fashion shoot. I wanted to try and capture a more relaxed pose and encouraged the model to sit quite naturally. There’s a softness to the pattern of the dress which works well with the skin and hair tones as a black and white image.

This is a self-portrait from a recent portraiture project. I chose self portraiture as I wanted to challenge myself technically. I also found this challenging as I was out of my comfort zone, having to spend time observing myself. This particular image was at the beginning of the project where I was experimenting with the positioning and focus of the camera.

I wanted to explore the contrast between natural and abstract light together to experiment with varied outcomes. I like the shadows and contrast highlighted in my profile and the tones of colour that work together I feel are quite filmic. I am always interested in the colour story and how it is used in cinematic films.

Here I created abstract light with a projector, and I am happy how the soft light reflects on my face and reflects from my ring. Within this shoot I became interested in how the light worked with the varied fabrics within the composition, I believe that this adds a richness of detail. The white light travelling from the window compliments the blue tones within the shirt.

After experimenting with light I chose to use the warmer side of natural light. Here I could explore the compositions that were cast onto my face by the shadows from the window and the strength of sunlight which changed throughout the day.

This project has certainly been challenging and I have learned so much technically. Most importantly, after working with myself as a subject, I feel that this has given me a deeper insight and appreciation to the ethics of being on the other side of the camera.
