annabeth: where’s percy?
grover: around
annabeth: around?
annabeth: you don’t have any idea, do you?
percy, dropping down from above: did you know there’s a space above the ceiling?

field trip to stark industries fic but it’s post-NWH and it’s peter community college class and peter’s first time back in the building after being forgotten.
and the building makes it very clear that AIs were immune to the spell.
bonus points if it’s an au where tony survived, and he’s very curious why his tech is reacting so strangely to this random kid

My take about percabeth is that yes it is "girl with abandonment issues"/"boy with loyalty as a fatal flaw" but I also think it's "boy that has never thought of anything for himself"/"girl who is ready with a powerpoint presentation of their future together"
Like, percy does not have any ambition. One of the first things he says about himself in tlt is that his life is "short and miserable". He has very low self steem and view of himself, and even though he has his mom, and friends, is not until he falls in love with annabeth that he gets an idea of what a future for himself would look like. The only times he imagines it is when thinking of annabeth. When rejecting inmortality, when in new rome and in the lete, when annabeth asks him what he wants to study. In tartarus, imagining marrying her and having children.
It might sound far fetched, but for most of the books he seems to be living his life as if just trying to survive day to day. He doesn't mind dying for the prophecy very much. Is only her voice that brings him out of the styx. Is only her that makes him want to look beyond what he is and makes him think of what he could be.

I just want a conversation between ranpo and dazai in which dazai lies the entire time and ranpo responds to what he'd actually say if he weren't lying and it's incomprehensible to atsushi

There’s something so fascinating about the dynamic between Dazai and Ranpo that rarely gets the attention it deserves.
Their relationship isn’t built on the same kind of camaraderie we see with Dazai and Chuuya or Ranpo and Fukuzawa. Instead, it exists in this weird, nebulous space of mutual brilliance, calculated detachment, and an unspoken understanding that neither of them really need to try around the other.
Both of them are geniuses, but in very different ways. Ranpo’s intelligence is so deeply ingrained in his identity that he doesn’t even consider it a “gift”—it’s just who he is. His self-confidence is absolute, bordering on arrogance, because he knows he’s the smartest person in the room. He doesn’t second-guess himself because, in his eyes, there’s simply no reason to.
Dazai, on the other hand, is an entirely different breed of genius. His intelligence is adaptive, shaped by his time in the Mafia, honed for manipulation, survival, and deception. He’s brilliant, yes, but he’s also deeply aware of his own mind—sometimes to the point where he actively tries to outmaneuver himself. Where Ranpo is unwavering in his certainty, Dazai constantly tests and plays with possibilities, viewing life as a game where he’s always five steps ahead.
That’s where their dynamic gets interesting. 🤨 👇🏽
1. They Don’t Need to Prove Themselves to Each Other
Dazai is someone who loves testing people. He provokes them, plays mind games, and watches their reactions for fun. He enjoys unraveling people, poking at their insecurities, seeing what makes them tick. And yet, with Ranpo? There’s none of that. Why? Because Ranpo sees through him. Where most people get caught up in Dazai’s theatrics, Ranpo just doesn’t care. He can see the games Dazai plays, but they don’t interest him because, in his mind, he’s already won before the game even began. This puts them in a strange but mutual space of respect—Dazai doesn’t bother trying to manipulate Ranpo, and Ranpo doesn’t feel the need to prove that he’s smarter. It’s one of the rare relationships where Dazai can just exist without putting on an act.
2. Dazai as the Observer, Ranpo as the Unshakable Constant
Dazai is constantly watching. It’s in his nature. He studies people, picks them apart, and predicts their next moves before they even think to make them. Ranpo? Ranpo doesn’t need to do any of that. He simply knows. This makes for an interesting contrast because, while Dazai is always looking for the angle, Ranpo just goes about his life, unbothered. He isn’t someone that Dazai needs to figure out, and that in itself is probably a little unsettling for Dazai—Ranpo is just Ranpo. There’s no hidden agenda, no underlying deception, just unshakable confidence in his own abilities. At the same time, I think Ranpo finds Dazai mildly interesting in a way he doesn’t find most people. Not because Dazai is a challenge—Ranpo knows he can see through him—but because Dazai operates so differently from him. He’s amused by Dazai’s schemes, the way he plays with people, but he doesn’t feel the need to engage. It’s almost like watching a child play with a puzzle you solved years ago.
3. A Quiet Understanding
Ranpo and Dazai don’t need to be close. They don’t need dramatic moments of bonding or grand declarations of friendship. Their relationship is more of a quiet, mutual acknowledgment—one genius recognising another, but with no need to test the limits. They don’t challenge each other. They don’t need to. And maybe that’s why their dynamic is so compelling. They just understand.

The art of loving the in-between
Peter Parker loves the little things.
More than saving people from crimes, he enjoys those little moments in between where he sits on the rooftops, enjoying the sun and the bright orange streaked skies. He loved playing with the little kids, helping little ducks cross the road safely, getting a lollipop from a grandmother for helping her to carry her groceries.
Perhaps, his love for little things is the reason why he was visibly moved when Tony Stark put together so many web combinations, dozens of protocols -- although the naming for all of them could've been a little better. The feeling to enjoy the moments in between was the reason he was able to live his life each day even after a whole warehouse fell on him.
Tony Stark didn't understand the concept of little moments in between.
He lived for grand gestures, buying a big bunny for Christmas and gifting multi-million dollar suits in a paper bag through drone, building a whole Avengers Compound for their band of superheros, only to be betrayed at the end.
After meeting Peter, he learnt little by little on what it meant to appreciate the quiet. The stolen moments in between meetings with Pepper, the moments of encouragement during Rhodey's physio training, when waiting in his car for Peter with Happy. A small conversation, the sound of bird chirping, Pepper's kisses and Rhodey's stable steps, Happy's grumpy concerns and Peter's carefree laughter.
Learning to love the people around him through the little moments of time truly made him a better person. To understand the value of each interaction with them and keep it close to his heart.
Tony hated the small moments once he lost his kid in Titan.
Because all he can think of is the little moments here and there. Drinking hot chocolate at 3 in the midnight cause neither of them can sleep with their nightmares, Ironman sitting at the rooftop eating churros with Spider-man, tinkering together in lab mind running miles per minute and throwing ideas to further improvise. A regular movie night and star wars marathon after a bad night at patrol.
He wanted to once again learn to love those moments to honor Peter's memory. Then came Morgan Stark, with all her wailing glory.
Tony Stark learned loving the small moments in a new way.
Each time Morgan did something that makes Tony feel like gosh only if the kid was here to see this, he'll get FRIDAY to record the segment with Tony narrating the incident.
As Morgan grew older, she noticed her dad speaking in a quiet voice, a smile that's different than what he gives her everyday. One day she gathered her courage to ask him about it.
Her dad explained to her that this was for her brother who has gone to a place far, far away. There was a sadness in his eyes that feels like it has been there forever.
She asks quietly when he'll come back. The response he gave stuck with her for a long time.
"I don't know, Maguna." Her dad says, tears gathering in his eyes. "But if there's anyway to bring him back, I'll do it." Bringing her into his arms, he continues. "For you to have a brother, for us, I'll do it."
That was enough for Morgan to accept Peter as her brother. Slowly, Peter as Peter and Peter as Spider-man trickled into her life in forms of bedtime stories and moment narrations. She even joined her dad to tell Peter about her day or what she found interesting.
When her dad came and sat her down one day, saying that he's going to bring Peter back, she was beyond overjoyed.
Then her dad left to that far, far place and Peter came and Morgan didn't know how to feel about that because deep down in her heart, she knew her dad left so that her brother can come back.
She saw Peter more and more around, and the more she spent time with him, the more she missed her dad because she couldn't help the thought that her dad would've given anything to see this.
The nightmares wake her up at 3 in the morning one day, crying and sobbing. Peter wordlessly open her room door and carry her in his arms. He mumbles something inaudible to her ears, then proceeded to carry her down the stairs to the kitchen.
Sitting her on the island, he opens a cabinet and pulls out the special box. Peter hands her a mini chocolate bar and asks softly, "Do you want some hot chocolate, mongoose?"
She sniffs and nods quietly. Peter presses a kiss to her forehead and heats up milk.
Peter teaches another Stark to love the in between moments and the interstices that occurred between the grand events.
And Morgan held it close to her forever, to honor her brother and her dad.

Muffled voice on the phone: We have kidnapped your son and if you want to see him alive again you'll have to-
Tony: Son? I HAVE A SON!?! WHY AM I JUST HEARING ABOUT THIS!?!
Muffled voice: ...We have the teenager with brown hair and a science pun shirt
Tony: Oh, you mean Peter. Yeah, he's not my son.
Muffled voice: ...are you sure?
Tony: yeah, I'm pretty sure
Muffled voice: Well, we still have the kid locked up... so do you want him or not?
Tony: ... Peter is literally sat right in front of me doing his calculus homework...
Tony: Pete, were you kidnapped?
Peter: Oh yeah! That's what I forgot to tell you!

Rather than saying "soulmate" or anything of the like, campers will just say "Percy" or "Annabeth."
Example: "I think we might be Percy and Annabeth." Or something along those lines.
And one day, Percy and Annabeth hear a camper say this to their partner. They look at each other, and Annabeth smiles at Percy. Then Percy throws Annabeth over his shoulder and runs off, yelling, "I've got the original!" while Annabeth laughs.

annabeth: d, all of the above
everyone: *nodding in agreement*
leo: also how come when he does that stuff he looks all cool and superhero-y, but when i do that stuff i look like im a deranged little elf committing some kind of crime?
piper: uh, leo.
leo with a hopeful voice: yeah?
piper: you always look like that
everyone: *nodding in agreement*

sally, over iris message: so how’s the semester going? are you studying properly? i know you mentioned having an exam tomorrow morning
percy: shockingly, i think i actually am
sally: okay good. i was worried you and annabeth would spend too much time together and not enough studying
percy: what? no of course not. in fact i haven’t even seen her today since i’ve been studying so much, like you suggested, so we don’t distract each other. we are both totally responsible adults.
sally: aw good! i’m glad to hear it. so quick question, which of your textbooks is responsible for the golden blonde hair i see by your shoulder?
percy, side-eyeing the strands of hair as they slowly get pulled away:
sally: *giving him the mom eye*
percy: having girlfriend time and cuddling is just as important as reading textbooks
annabeth, appearing from her hiding place under the covers: seaweed brain! why didn’t you just say we were studying together?
percy: …that, would have been the more logical thing to say, wouldn’t it?
sally: you know sometimes it really shocks me that you two are still alive

have you ever thought about how out of all the men in PJO and HOO, percy is the least like annabeth? they complement each other so beautifully, like 2 puzzle pieces that are a perfect fit, but they’re SO different. like imagine…
piper: annabeth is dating one of these 4 men
hazel: *gestures to percy, jason, frank, and leo*
piper: guess which one
random person: hmm… i’d say frank. he’s the son of the god of war and she’s the daughter of the goddess of battle strategy. they’re both incredible fighters and stategists. i bet they are amazing together
percy: 😐
hazel: *nervously laughs*
piper: um, nope! try again!
random person: oh? really? ok well then definitely jason. son of zeus? well mannered, always in control of the situation, very humble and honorable. as a daughter of athena, he’s totally her type. they are both very calm and level-headed. they both are leaders and know how to weigh the options and outcomes quickly in a tough situation. plus, they are both blonde with light eyes, so they would have beautiful babies!
percy: 😒
piper: *nervously laughs*
hazel: um… still no! one more try!
random person: oh wait… i’m so stupid! it’s obvious!
hazel: there you go! i also think it’s obv-
random person: it’s leo! why didn’t i see it? he’s a mechanic. she’s an architect. they are perfect together! she’s a creator and he’s a fixer. their brains work so much like each other. they’re basically meant to be! oh and they are both from the south!! and i bet-
piper: IT’S PERCY! she is dating percy. perseus jackson. you know, the one on the left? tall, tan, lean, black hair, green eyes? him and only ever him.
random person: oh
percy: 🤨
random person: the… the son of poseidon?? the hot sarcastic bad boy? with that troublemaker look about him? the one with severe mood swings, and who gets expelled from every single school he goes to?
percy: *awkwardly looks down at his hands*
random person: HE’S annabeth chase’s boyfriend??
annabeth: damn right he is 🥰

I wish we got Jason being upset or jealous or something of Percy being closer to Thalia than he was. Annabeth too, tbh.
Like, can you imagine what that would have been like. Thalia is the ONLY family Jason really has. Camp Jupiter thinks of him as a soldier. His mom is dead and his dad is Zeus.
And he barely has any relationship with her!! He didn't even know she existed for most of his life and then they finally found each other but they had to split up after just a few hours and only saw each other a couple of times after that! Meanwhile Percy has gone on multiple quests with her and got to spend around a year with her and they were already pretty close at the start of TTC. Annabeth spent a year on the streets with her and also got to hang out with her pre-TTC to the point where Percy was competing with Thalia to be Annabeth's best friend (albeit one sided) And then there was Luke and Nico and the hunters of Artemis and even Reyna.
Just. Idk. Give me Jason wishing he could have that with Thalia.

leo: you know it’s funny when i see all my friends fight monsters. because as the most powerful demigods alive, everyone gets the job done. but everyone does it so differently
chiron: how so?
leo: well jason is like a robot, or some fighting machine, because with all his training he’s so programmed and concise. frank is basically the bipolar animal version of the hulk. piper is weirdly calm and seductive with her “you think what i tell you to think” voice. annabeth is methodical and sneaky and alarmingly brutal. nico is just creepy as hell. and hazel’s like a freaky witch with all her voodoo magic shit
chiron: all great descriptions. and percy?
leo: oh percy’s just a crazy son of a bitch
chiron, chuckling: and you’re not?
leo: hey i may be ADHD off the walls, and i do make some crazy plans, but that dude should be deemed legally insane. i once saw him jump onto the back of a giant sea monster, stab it with a narwhal’s tusk, and then ride a great white shark around as he lassoed monsters with kelp ropes. and the entire time, he was singing a cage the elephant song
chiron, nodding thoughtfully: “ain’t no rest for the wicked?”
leo: no actually it was “around my head.” guy’s got great taste
