I see two very possible options for Jean in The Broken Cage regarding Rhemann.

1… Rheman appoints Jean as vice-captain for the senior year.

It wouldn't be unreasonable. Jean coaches the rookie defenders and will likely control almost the entire defensive line in the senior year, so he establishes a bond between the juniors and seniors, in a different but similar way to what Neil did. He's a link between the younger players (due to Jean's age, closer to the juniors) and the older players (due to their experience in the exy, closer to the seniors).

But also, according to Rhemann's standard, giving these positions to two queer people who have had a tough time (I assume Xavier's transition must have been complicated at the time, and we already know Jeremy's story), it would also go along those lines. This would also be indicative of Jean's growth and the restoration of his reputation.

I don't think Rhemann would make Jean captain because it would put too much pressure on someone who still has many demons to fight, and also because he arrived as a junior, so he's not the most deserving person for this position with the Trojans. But I see a possible vice-captain position on the horizon.

CONS: We'd be repeating Neil's story a bit, so I'm leaning toward the second option.

2… Rhemann sees that Jean has great aptitude for being a professional coach and encourages him to take classes in his senior year.

I would love this option because it would break away from Neil and be Jean's ultimate breakthrough. Jean decides to overcome Tetsuji, accept that the man was a shitty coach and a bastard, and decides to give coaching a chance (which is what he's doing with Tanner and the others, after all). He embraces the exy again; he wants to teach people while taking care of them, and it would also be a nod to Rhemann and Adi's story.

I think it would be endearing and the perfect ending if, in the future, Jean retires and becomes the coach at USC, and Jeremy, of course, is by his side. It would also be the perfect ending because James and Adi couldn't make their relationship public, but when Jean and Jeremy retire, they don't have to hide anything. Times have changed. The rules have changed.

Prediction: Bryson plants the drugs in Jeremy’s room and Mathilda finds them. Jeremy argues they aren’t his but she forbids him to leave the house anyway. Speaking of Leo Foster. I want Jean to learn the whole story. I want him to know that some guy who chose a car over Jeremy Knox is still walking the earth, breathing the same air, living his life. I want Jean to hear the details of this betrayal and go silent for so long it gets kind of scary.

I want Leonard Foster to become Jean Moreau’s arch enemy. Because Leo had EVERYTHING Jean ever wanted and still he dared to trade it for a damn car
