recommending The Locked Tomb to people is so funny because like okay bear with me. the first book is like this cool adventure sci-fi fantasy story about these two extremely intense lesbians from Pluto who hate each other, right. reading this first book, if it works properly, will make you 100% obsessed with the intense and deep interpersonal dynamic between these two specific people in this specific location with this specific supporting cast. anyway the moment the first book in the series ends you're never seeing any of that shit again ever

3. wait ALSO about the nocturnal zebra, I’m excited to see if the creatures they imagined are real because they’re legendary adventurers and brilliant and while this is a comedy show we see the bits and absurdity Brennan wants to highlight that they studied and explored and thought about this idea enough to be correct in their guesses, or if Zood reacts to peoples beliefs and imaginations (Straka coming from folktale/fear/human waste, and the zebra literally born from Monty’s imagination)

Thoughts from ‘Secrets at the South Pole Station’:

I think Comfrey was at the station, like in AP they say maybe comfrey triggered something but I think she and her people were there, she realized Morderschire was coming for her / betrayed her / was going to do something terrible with the tech of Zood and fled. Cuz she knew how to find the biangle and he doesn’t. So she was like “the only place I can really hide/be safe is Zood” and that’s why Morderschire was so desperate to ask them about the biangle. He knows it’s a thing cuz he chased Comfrey to it.

I’m very curious if she thought other people were more up to the task (legitimate, 3/4 had arguably had severe breakdowns) or if she wanted to protect her crew. She knew she was getting into bed with someone dangerous and wanted to keep her people clean and ignorant. Both interesting, curious to see where it goes.

A wizard that regularly breaks into the gem shop where magical gemstones are cut from rough stone into their more commonly known sparkly faceted shapes - but he doesn't steal any of them. He sweeps the floor. Bags the stone crumbs and shards and dust he sweeps up. Breaks out again. The goblins who run the gem shop never bother to investigate why the floor just cleans up on its own, they assume that they've got a house elf or something.

So the wizard takes the shards and all, and grinds them all into evenly sized teeny tiny crumbs, and mixes them all together. The magic gemstone chips and crumbs become something new: magic pocket sand. Nobody knows what it'll do to you if he throws it at you. Least of all him.

maybe it’s a little lame but catra + adora was kind of a break thru moment for me when it came to “writing that would be neat and nice and more moral i guess” versus “writing that is more thought provoking and interesting because it’s messier and has blurrier lines about morality and what’s right” because like. what if the girl you love and who you’re going to love for the rest of your life and will never be able to let go of is the girl who’s done a lot of awful things and done a lot of them to you and to people you care about and to random strangers and the whole world but she’s still your best friend and she’s still the girl you would jump off a cliff for would put your own life as well as your closest friends lives in danger for and she is the girl you love and what if that’s enough no family or friends or good deeds of hers is what makes her worthy what makes it enough is that it’s her. and so you put your own and your friends lives in danger and in doing so put the fate of the universe at stake and you jump off a cliff because she was forced to jump off of it too and you never would have ended up saving the universe if you hadn’t done that. if someone who was awful was enough. if you hadn’t put your own selfish desires first and saved her. like what if man !!!! what if. and what if she’s a catgirl and what if she’s a SCORPIO. man.
