the one thing that made college more bearable was that chanyeol was there with him. best friends in high school, and best friends in college. they had changed, but they’d done it together. chan felt proud to have watched chanyeol blossom into who he was today ( though, he felt a little sad watching him grow in height ).
‘ uh… what paper? ’ he stuffs the paper in his pocket ( somewhat carefully ). chan wasn’t the best student. he never has been, and he probably never will be. but he’s fine with that. he’s fine with being an average student. but his latest test grade was something that he wouldn’t show anyone. and he hoped he wouldn’t have to show chanyeol, but he knew that that was impossible. he knew that since the paper was in chanyeol’s sight, there was no avoiding showing him. but he could still try, right?
‘ great ! let’s go to the park then, ’ he gives chanyeol an innocent smile, reaching for his hand. he grabs his hand softly, pulling him towards the direction of the park. he had done this for years in high school, and he really hoped that it would work on him again.
Though it was a pain, with all the studying and mostly useless books that he paid a fortune for, Chanyeol could honestly say he didn’t mind attending college too terribly much. Especially with Chan being there, it made it bearable but also motivated the taller in a sense. In their highschool days, Chan was the one who pushed Chanyeol to attend class more and skip less, but now it seemed like the roles have switched slightly. Even though he had his own classes to deal with, he still tried to help out the younger in anyway he could.
Brow quirked in suspicion, he shoots Chan a doubtful look. Shifting his backpack from one shoulder to the other, he purses his lips, a lecture on the tip of his tongue. Chan however, beat him to it by using the oldest trick in the book. His face lights up at the mention of a certain four lettered word, a small smile tugging on the corners of his mouth. “The park?”
He willingly follows as the smaller male leads, though he was certain that they were discussing something important only moments ago. “Wait..” He calls out, tightening his grip on Chan’s hand as he pulls him back. “We should grab some coffee first.”

avthyunwoo:
A cactis? He had never really considered that. Usually when talking about house plants, the assumption would be that it was something with leaves or flowers. He supposed a cacti would be easy enough. Maybe it was worth looking into. Though with the amount of times he had tried to practice his fire manipulation at his home in the loft, it would probably be better not to expose a houseplant to that.
Hmm maybe he should get a fish. Were fish affected by the air around them? It didn’t take a lot of attention to care for a fish, not from what he had heard at least. “Yeah, maybe I could get one of those.” Betta fish were colourful and interesting enough. He looked over at the dog he was supposed to be pet-sitting. She was just lying on her stomach beside Chanyeol. He didn’t really want to make any sudden movements, towards her or not. She hadn’t been this calm since his coworker had handed him her leash earlier that morning.
The species of houseplants that resided in his home varied though he did own quite a hearty collection of smaller succulents and cacti a like, all of which were placed happily in direct sunlight. “Succulents are very nice and easy to take care of as well.” He chirps out, the dog shifting around to curl up next to male as he continuously strokes her. Her head placed in his lap like before, Misty starts to lick Chanyeol’s other hand that laid motionless.
“You should definitely look into it!” He encourages, tone bright and cheerful as ever. “I--I could even help you research them.. I-If you’d like I mean..” Smiling sheepishly, Chanyeol’s cheeks are flourished with a soft pink as he speaks, the male easily flustered. “They come in so many colors, it would be too hard for me to decide on just one.” He muses, a small laughter following. Misty wags her tail at the laughter, the medium-sized dog gazing up at the taller affectionately.

The moment the other opens his mouth to comment on his ramblings, his face flushes and he goes from looking up at the tall keeper to back to the plants, the tips of his ears red and looking like cherry tomatoes as he buries his face in his hands, counting backwards from ten to calm himself down. He wasn’t supposed to hear, that’s for sure, but now he has and he even commented on it. God, he just wanted to seem like a normal florist. It’s been going well for so long now and this is what blows his cover? He’s surprised he’s lasted this long under such a façade. The embarrassment swallows him whole until it registers: as well? He peers from between his fingers, looking up at the other. “You…do so too?” He mutters, clearing his throat before he straightened his back, still squatted down beside the plants. “Bunny….is cute, yeah. But I’ve named so many plants after small creatures….” If you can’t beat them, join them, he muses, attempting to create small talk and follow through with the conversation, just to make sure coming back here wouldn’t take more courage than needed with the awkward air he’s sure to create if he ignored the other.
He swallows nervously, face flushing heavily as well at the sight of the other male’s reaction. His eyes quickly adverts to the ground, the awkward tension that suddenly rose made the taller shift around uncomfortably. He really didn’t mean to call out the other male in such a way, his curiosity just got the better of him, he swears. “Hyung -- I’m sorry..” He mumbles out, his voice low, head hung low in embarrassment.
Maybe it was his excitement that got the best of him, instead. The mere thought of someone sharing similar powers in the plant spectrum overjoyed the boy beyond belief. Yet, he still had yet to meet a being with said abilities, people only able to recall friends or distant family members who possessed such.
His head snaps up instantaneously however, a small smile starting to tug on the corners of his mouth as soon as the older male responds. He’s still slouched over, something for which his mother would have surely scolded him for due to bad posture, but it helps him relax slightly as he reflexively brings a hand to the nape of his neck. “Ah.. I know what that’s like..” He says softly, still finding difficulty speaking after the male’s previous reaction. He didn’t want that to happen again, Chanyeol certain he could never bring himself to face the male again if that were to happen. “Maybe name them after food?” He suggests, knowing food names were very common with pets nowadays, so why not try a couple on plants.

gahyeon really, really hopes the guy doesn’t think anything about it. she doesn’t want a misunderstanding, doesn’t want him to think that this is some…strange sort of confession; lee gahyeon doesn’t confess to strangers on the street. lee gahyeon doesn’t confess, because lee gahyeon doesn’t like anyone and most don’t like gahyeon. keyword: most.
“sure.” she blinks at the male, shrugging her shoulders and looking away, shuffling in place. she reaches up to scratch her cheek. “i’d rather give them to someone that’ll actually enjoy them or think they’re, er. nice.” her shoulders shrug. “it was either that or have me toss them away. sure that would have made someone upset.” her tongue clicks. another bob of her head. “yeah. i mean, flowers are pretty. they’re just– not my thing. they make my nose itch.” gahyeon has flowers at her home, huge bouquets and arrangements that her mother invests in and replaces every other week. they’re nice, pretty– but they’re annoying and it itches. “even if i did keep them, they’d be dead after like, a day. i’m not very good with keeping up with things.”
He nods his head slowly, fingers grasping around the stems tightly. “Ah.. well.. thank you t-then.” He mumbles, cheeks growing redder by the minute. His eyes glance over the smaller female, gulping nervously. It had been quite sometime since he had been gifted anything, by friends and strangers alike. He wasn’t really one to accept gifts, often insisting that others shouldn’t spend their money on him. Though with these, he didn’t mind accepting the bouquet. “Well, I’m glad you didn’t throw these away.” He says, a hint of cheer in his tone as a small smile was beamed towards the plants.
His blinks, a look of concern fills his face. “Are you allergic?” He asks, knowing a couple people back in his hometown who shared similar allergies. Well, he had heard of them, the boy was far too busy tending to his plants to really socialize with others outside of his two childhood friends.
He swallows nervously like before, timidly holding a hand out towards her, smiling sheepishly. “I’m Chanyeol.. It’s nice to meet you..” He lets the hand firmly holding the bouquet fall to his side.

@avtchanggu
Hands shoved loosely in his pocket, Chanyeol keeps his shoulders slouched as he casually walks around on his day off. With no set destination in mind, he often found himself in search of plants in need when the handful he cared for outside of work and his own personal collection were fine for the day. The most he really had done so far as care went was watering a couple beds of flowers in the park nearby his apartment. The rest seemed to be in pristine condition, a feat the taller thought he’d never be able to accomplish.
A warm smile remains on his face as he nears a father famous hotel within the mutant community, well, from what he’s heard at least. The handful of customers who happened to spot the plant boy doing his thing almost always brought it up at least once in the handful of exchanges they’ve had. So from what he could assume, this place was a big deal. He straightens up slightly, eyes gazing around the greenery surrounding the hotel front.
Frown starting to form, he’s definitely seen plants in better shape, though these weren’t exactly in the worst shape either. A small cluster of daffodils cry out to him, the male finding himself suddenly by their side. Hand already raised to their aid, Chanyeol brought them back to a healthier state without even batting an eye. He starts searching out for the more needy plants, who seemed to beckon him at the sight of their newly revived friends.
Three beds in and not soon after the taller male started to feel the after effects of his ability, who only come in to play when he overworks himself. His breathing becomes more rapid, his focus fuzzy as he takes a few steps away from the garden. He takes shaky steps towards the entrance of the hotel, barely able to concentrate.
First things first, he needed to at least sit down before another falling incident happened. He swears he still has a couple bruises from the time. Stumbling in to the lobby, he almost makes it to the nearest seat before his legs gave out, leaving the younger male on his hands and knees. He winces, thankful that there was no one there to witness that, especially the yelp he lets out as his body made contact with the ground.

kale it quits
@avtyukwon
The taller male slowly walks down the unusually busy street, briefly pausing ever now and then to survey the area. Despite being a resident of Incheon for well over two years, the male still struggled to even remember the very street he lived on. A small frown tugs on the corners of his mouth as his eyes dart around, searching for any hint of familiarity.
Nothing familiar in the slightest catches his eyes, the male having to take a few steps back as if to quite literally retrace his steps. He could’ve sworn the natural foods store was down this very block, but instead he was met with a small convenience store. Chanyeol’s frown becomes more prominent, the taller male continuing to search for even the smallest clue as to where he was.
His anxiety starts to get the better of him, the male frozen in the middle of the side walk as his eyes dart around searching for at least one friendly face who wouldn’t mind helping him. One of the many traits to have followed from childhood, the taller had a certain knack getting lost even in his own hometown. He fidgets with the sleeve of his jacket, feeling his eyes start to water at the notion of not being able to return home in time to tend to his plants. Probably not the most practical thing to worry about when one is lost, though his phone was currently dead so asking even a friend for assistance was near impossible.
His gaze timidly falls on an older male, only a few feet away from himself. A deep, yet soft voice calls out, his eyes fixated on the ground. “A-Ah.. excuse me.. could you.. help me..” He nearly whispers at this point, Chanyeol was pretty sure not even the people passing by heard him.

avtdowoon:
Dowoon was starting to find this conversation just getting a little awkward. And he had never really done well in awkward situation, just offering a small smile as he scratched at the back of his neck. “Dad jokes just make me cringe more than anything,” he never really found them funny enough to laugh at. They were just stupid and not even funny. Not that he was some expert at jokes and knew all the best ones. But those of the ‘dad’ variety never got much out of him.
The taller male was still standing in front of the bed of flowers, clearly not forgetting about hiding whatever he didn’t want to be seen. Ever so slightly annoying, but Dowoon couldn’t really find it in him to care much about it any more. Sure, he was still curious about what he could possibly be hiding behind him, but he was sure that he would find out eventually. Even if he had to waste some of his own time just to peek.
So he didn’t work here, but just looked after the plants. Well, he supposed that someone had to or not so many people would come here if everything was just dead and drooping. This was a nice park and he could at least appreciate the work which must have gone into keeping it nice, even if he was not the biggest flower person himself. “Well, you’re doing a good job of looking after everything,” he did have to note with a smile, gesturing around with a hand, “Shouldn’t think that looking after all of this would be easy.”
The awkward atmosphere that was starting to fill the air made him shuffle his feet uncomfortably, his gaze falling to the ground briefly. He weakly smiles in return, nodding his head softly. “They aren’t for everyone.” He says, just wanting to move the conversation along before things become more awkward than they already were.”I’m more of a pun man myself, even my job has a pun in the title.” He laughs weakly, lightly shrugging.
His posture becomes more relaxed, Chanyeol was able to gather his thoughts together more so a plausible excuse for the sudden flourishing pansies within a bed of mostly dead ones would be easy as pie. Besides, the male could at least tell that the other had at least a basic knowledge of plant life, so perhaps his typical ‘i use a special type of soil’ excuse could work in this instance. He shoves a hand within his pocket, the hand seeking out and starting to fidget with a set of keys to his apartment.
He could feel the heat radiating from his cheeks at the compliment, the taller smiling sheepishly. “Ah.. Well, the groundskeepers only stop by a couple times a month and I couldn’t just let them sit here and suffer..” His smile settles warmly, glancing downwards at a couple of beds of wildflowers nearby. “ It can be troublesome, but the outcome is worth it in the long run.” He murmurs.

avtjinwoo:
Overwhelming, is the understatement of the year as he stands in an aisle full of various species of plants. Jinwoo’s knowledge of plant life is limited and stops at his mother’s small garden he remembers tending to while growing up. Vegetables? Absolutely, he knows his way around vegetables. Plants for cleaner air? Safe for animals? That can survive without constant sunlight? He’s completely clueless.
He takes his time walking down the aisle, stopping to read the labels while trying his best to understand the little information written on them. The vast variety of species surprises the empath, feeling under prepared and in awe at what he’s been missing out.
There’s nothing specific Jinwoo has in mind for his apartment, more of a last minute decision when he realized just how lacking and empty his place truly is (not that he ever has any visitors over anyways). Pondering between two plants, he doesn’t hear the approaching footsteps until a deep voice is interrupting his confusing thoughts.
Jinwoo spins towards the voice, blanching a little at the height of the person, having to look up to make eye contact. He gives the man a hesitant smile at the question before answering, “Uh… yes? I’m not quite sure what I’m looking for though… I probably should have done some research before waltzing in here”
His cheeks turn a light shade of pink, Chanyeol worried that he may have frightened the smaller male. His height had that effect on people, most having to take a double take. His smiles falters slightly, though he remains calm and collective like always. “Ah? Is this your first time here?” He asks, eyes widen with curiosity.
He was always happy to help anyone new to the plant world, the male just really loves spreading the love for plants. “ Did you have anything in mind?” He asks, starting with the basics. He glances behind the male to see which plants he was looking at before the taller came along.
House plants.. His eyes light up at this, a small smile creeps up on his face. House plants were his go-to recommendation when it came to beginners, though they were over all just great plants. A quick list of plants to recommend is quickly conjured, the taller excitedly awaits the other male’s response.
Most people who came in were veterans in the plant field and required little to no assistance. At least they helped keep the male entertained with a hearty chat in regards to plant care and what works best for them. He starts to chew on his bottom lip, a habit he’s had since his early youth, keeping a steady gaze on the male before him.

avtkris:
Yifan yawns as he stretches himself, long arms punching the air above his head. The broom that he carelessly lean against his stomach almost fell to the floor, right above the small pile of fallen leaves and petals he’s sweeping. It was yet another slow day for the shop, not many people bought flowers during these times. He grimaces at the unsold flowers in his shop, aware of them gradually wilting in their buckets of water.
He sighs at the thought of throwing the flowers away, both his nostalgia and his businessman part caused him a slight grief. Yifan glanced outside the glass door and notices that he hasn’t flipped the store sign to “CLOSED” yet. Holding the broom along, he struts towards the door, eyes catching the sight of a male in his early twenties having his eyes glued to the bucket of droopy sunflowers (yikes, he’ll have them removed after this. It might be bad for the store’s reputation if someone were to spread rumors if they sell wilting flowers). He was about to greet the young male, thinking he might be a late customer when something he had never imagined happens.
His eyes almost pop out from their sockets when he watches in awe the flowers looking bright and healthy once again upon the touch of the boy outside the store. Yifan drops his broom like a drama queen he is, feet scrambling to get closer to the boy and almost forgetting all of his manners. He stopped right on time to prevent himself crashing on the male and completely ignored the words the other male said.
“KID!! Do you want a job??” Yifan says in a voice that’s a tad too loud than necessary, unaware that he might scare the poor boy.
His eyes widen, taking a few steps back, nearly bumping into the pot of flowers. He lets out a small yelp, caught completely off guard by the older’s excited greeting. He gulps nervously, still visibly shaken by the other male’s loud tone. It wasn’t everyday where Chanyeol was offered a job out of the blue, but something nagged at him that maybe he wasn’t as sly as he had hoped in regards to the now healthy bunch of sunflowers played a key role.
If the situation were any different, the younger would definitely be beaming a smile down back at the flowers. He was pretty sure he had been caught in the act. “I-I can explain!” He suddenly bursts out, trying to be careful as to not knock any of the flowers surrounding him over.“I- I have this special plant food you see and it --” He cuts himself off, cheeks turning dark pink at how stupid he must sound. This had to have been the worst lie he’s come up with to date. He can only imagine at how his friends will tease him if they ever were to find out.
He can barely lift his gaze up to the male, it’s aimed down towards the ground instead . He raises a hand to rub the nape of his neck, the job offer still hung heavily on his mind. Perhaps he was putting more thought into than one should be. If the male had in fact spotted Chanyeol using one of the few abilities he was good at, he seemed overjoyed and embracing regarding it, a opposite feeling of the nursery he currently worked for. The owners still had no clue about his ‘abilities’, and Chanyeol prefers to keep it that way. There was no telling of how people will react this day and age to something like was the taller had just displayed.

avthyunwoo:
Hyunwoo could argue that it was just that he smelled unnatural to these animals. It would be easier to gain the trust of another who had animal instincts or senses, because he could talk to them, convince them otherwise, but with animals that couldn’t understand him, it was a lot harder. It would be possible, but Misty wasn’t his dog, and he only had to take care of her for a few days. It wasn’t going to happen within that short period of time.
He smiles at the prompt that the other had plants. In his opinion, plants were even more difficult to take care of. Pets, when full, wouldn’t eat anymore. If a plant was watered too little, or too much though, you would have no idea until it was likely too late to save it.
A house plant?” he echoes, thinking about it. Considering his regular mindset, he’d likely just forget to water it. It wasn’t a good thought, “Taking care of house plants seems to be rather challenging.” His mother used to have a few house plants, and it seemed that every few months, she would change the house plants because well, they either shriveled or drowned. It was unfortunate. “My mother used to either give them too much water or not enough.” He grins sheepishly. “Maybe a fish?”
Chanyeol could only empathize with the other male regarding animals. Animals always have seemed to be drawn towards him, though for a time he was admittedly hesitant around cats after a neighborhood stray scratched him. It took some time to get over it, but the payoff was good in the long run, the taller male now the (very) proud caretaker of a feral cat colony.
His head perks up, smile growing wider as the pair started to discuss plants. He stops petting Misty for the time, devoting his full attention to the other male, nodding his head softly. “House plants are actually one of the easiest plants to care for.” He chirps. Many of his customers shared the same concerns as the other male, “If you want something with minimal care, a cacti would be best.” He hums. “They only require sunlight and need to be watered at lest once a week.”
Chanyeol didn’t own too many cacti, though he did like to admire the ones he comes into contact with at the nursery. “Ah, that happens a lot..” A small frown starts to form, the taller trying his best not to think about it too much. It always pained him to see, or even hear about plants going through something like that, but he could only sympathize since most people weren’t able to communicate with the greenery. “Oh! Fish are cute!” He shakes off the twinge of negative emotions, and flashes yet another smile. “And very easy to take care of.” He says cheerily, starting to gently stroke the dog.

some things are better left undead
@pjmavt
For the past two weeks, Chanyeol has been dumbfounded yet again on why the lifespan of this one particular garden he frequents has been cut so short. It didn’t matter if it had been a week or even a few days, every time he visited the plants were in the same state as before: withered or completely dead.
A small frown tugs on the corners of his mouth, squinting down at the decaying plants before him, picking at his brain for a solution. He had even go far as to as the owners of the nursery he worked for advice, though their suggestion was as much help as his own knowledge, which was useless for this. “Maybe it’s the soil...” He mumbles to himself, squatting down next to a patch of parsley. He starts to put his revival skills to work, slowly pacing himself in an attempt to prevent another fainting incident.
He keeps a steady gaze on the plants before him, taking a short break in between to give himself some time to recover. During this break is when he regrets looking up at this time, the taller male feels his stomach drop. Eyes wide with panic, he is practically frozen with fear as what he mistakes as a full body apparition starts walking closer to the garden.. and him.
The ‘ghost’s’ pale skin illuminates in the setting sun’s glow, while Chanyeol falls back landing on his rear as he can only manage stare. He swallows nervously, unsure what to even say in the presence of a spirit, every television show taught him that nearly nine times out of ten any ghostly interaction was demonic. “P-Please don’t possess me..” He squeaks, a part of him hoping that perhaps he’s come into contact with something more like casper the friendly ghost and less like paranormal activity.

avtdino:
‘ chanyeol hyung ! ’ the name, and appearance, of his friend made the younger boy smile, waving his occupied hands to the taller boy. their friendship, to some people, might seem unlikely. some reasons were because those people didn’t know either of them, some of them were silly ( one person said it was because of their height difference ). but even so, they were best friends.
chanyeol was one of the people that chan trusted with every fiber of his being. even though when they started talking, chan found his friend intimidating, he was quick to realize that chanyeol was actually soft hearted. chanyeol was one of the first people chan told about his powers. and he remembered being scared, he remembered almost crying because of it the night before. but he knew it was chanyeol, and that he wouldn’t hurt chan in any way.
so, of course, chanyeol’s presence would brighten up chan’s not so bright day. he wished that they had classes together. it would keep chan sane and awake in class. looking down, the paper in his hands remind him of how horrible his day has been, and his smile drops to a frown. looking back up at chanyeol, folding the paper ( a test, almost failing grade on the top ) to prevent chanyeol from seeing it. he hopes the older male doesn’t see.
‘ let’s go somewhere ! where should we go? ’
Grinning brightly, Chanyeol’s tall frame seemingly towered above students as they quickly made their way past. Though his height was one of the easiest things to spot, it didn’t help that he chose such a bold hair color choice, one that practically anyone could point out from miles away.
He waves excitedly at the smaller, resembling an excited puppy as he nearly trips over his own to feet as he jogged over to the youth. “Dino-ah!” A nickname not very many called him by nowadays, though to be fair they had known each other for quite sometime, not to mention Chanyeol found it pretty adorable. He warmly muses on how much they both had grown since their highschool days, though somethings never seemed to change, especially Chanyeol’s distaste for school.
He eventually settles for a soft smile, a small gleam of curiosity in his eyes as he notices the smaller quickly fold and hide the sheet of paper. “We can go where ever you’d like --” He starts, casting Chan a suspicious glance. “-- After you show hyung what’s on that paper..” One of the oldest tricks in the book, Chanyeol considers himself an expert in the ‘trying to hide something from someone and hoping they won’t notice’ field.

avtmark:
so when they arrive he’s barely containing his excitement. he cannot believe that he is going to come to a dog cafe! it also helps that this will also help him escape the heat for some time. escaping the heat will be really great and fantastic and it will really make him feel a lot better. he’s been feeling thirsty since the morning now.
but with chanyeol hyung, the two of them will have a great. mark has been looking forwards to this for the few days after they decided to make plans. he’s basically already thrown himself onto the floor, cooing at a little white pomerian and caramel-colored poodle before attacking them in pets and kisses.
“hyung this is the best place in the world!”
Soft brown eyes widen with excitement as soon as they spot a friend. A very excited friend. Chanyeol quickly joins Mark on the floor, where a very large dog (in comparison to the two smaller dogs) decides to waddle over, placing a large paw on his lap. “I know right!” He responds cheerily, stroking the bigger dog.
“I can’t believe we haven’t come here sooner!” This was his new favorite place, besides the nursery of course. He giggles as more dogs join them, equally showering the pair with kisses just as they were doing. “I think there’s a small pamphlet over on the tables that has their names..” Despite being lower on the ground, the taller still manages to reach and retrieve one with ease.
“That smaller pomeranian by you is named.. Honey.” He says, reading over the rest of the names, amused by their cute sweets-themed named. “It says this larger one is a chow-chow..named Toffee.” The large dog lets out a deep broof in response, wagging its tail. “It’s nice to meet you Toffee, I’m Chanyeol.” He says cutely, scratching it behind it’s ear.
“I want to stay here forever!”

avtjonghyun:
It wasn’t even that often that he was spoken to whenever he wanders in, most of the chatting going on centred around his current order and the next. However, being in the presence of flowers, his social battery depletes at mach 5 speed, wanting to simply bask in their presence and calm himself down.
He gives his very best business smile as he approaches the man, his cheeks giving out as soon as he heard him chirp out, realising that he can never match his cheerfulness. It’s a talent, really. “Thank you.” He hums, nodding as he crouches down to check on the cluster of flowers, mumbling as he went through them.
“I’ll buy an extra one of you next time. Then maybe you the week after that. Rabbit is a cute name. So is bird, right? Maybe I should be more specific? Feathers? That doesn’t seem to match…what about bunny and clyde? Sounds boring, though…”
He blinks, unsure if he was hearing the other male correctly. Usually their encounters were very brief, a simple friendly exchange here and there. Though, Chanyeol couldn’t recall the male actually speaking to the plants before today. Perhaps he.. he shared similar mutation to the youth’s.
Though, going about asking things like that was very dangerous waters, ones which Chanyeol didn’t dare to step in. Instead, he tilts his head lightly, looking down at the other male curiously. “You .. name your plants as well?” He asks, his voice sounding quieter than intended, cheeks slightly pink from embarrassment. He was rather reserved when it came to his own personal plants, especially about the names he had for them.
He was certain the name suggestions weren’t directed towards him, but he did feel the need to at least give his input. “Bunny is a really cute name.” He muses, smiling shyly. He liked to follow certain themes when it came to naming his plants, his cacti especially. Most recently, he has taken up an interest in astrology, his favorite cacti (a large barrel cacti) named Andromeda due to his new recent obsession. He continues to smile, wanting to say more but holds himself back instead. He really didn’t want to make the other male feel uncomfortable in the slightest.

avtdowoon:
“Yeah, a joke,” he affirmed with a nod of his head, the slight frown still on his face, “I take it you have never heard that one before, then.” If his reaction was anything to go by, which was still a little weird. And he just went and confirmed that theory as well, causing Dowoon to shrug just a little, “Thought it was a pretty common thing people said.” But maybe that was just him, or this guy had been living under a rock all of his life. “Dad jokes? God no, they just make me cringe,” and he would rather avoid them if he could.
He was pretty determined to try and get a look at what he was hiding, but for now, he just played it off. Maybe if he made him think that he wasn’t trying anymore he would let his guard down and that would give Dowoon the chance to sneak a look. But if all else failed he still could just turn invisible and then there would be nothing stopping him. Unless this guy was a mutant and had the unlikely power of heat vision or something.
Of course he never saw him, that was because no one ever did, but he could hardly just say this. “I just keep to myself a lot,” he offered with a lazy shrug of his shoulder, “I don’t really hang around for very long.” Both statements weren’t even a lie and it still explained things without mentioning that he could actually turn invisible. “Why? Are you here a lot then? You work here or something?”
He slowly nods, feeling slightly embarrassed that he didn't really get the joke. Perhaps it was due to his more old fashioned sense of humor. The male still struggles to understand most modern memes today, and totally pronounced it as may-mays until one of his coworkers had corrected him. His cheeks flush slightly, the frown becoming more prominent. “Ah.. I guess they aren’t really for everyone.”
Keeping a watchful gaze, he tries to vanquish the frown, but all he can manages is a small smile. He was certain the other male wouldn’t go down so easily, but he found some room to relax slightly, his guard let down a little. His feet still remain planted firmly in front of the flower bed, and thankfully his larger frame made things difficult to peep around.
To be fair, he wasn’t very good with recognizing faces, unless they were ones he spotted constantly, especially at the nursery. “Ah.. I see.” He says softly, nodding his head. He definitely could understand where the male was coming from, as Chanyeol often sought out solitude in plants. He lets out a small chuckle, shaking his head lightly. “I just check on the plants around here.. But I work in a plant nursery not too far from here.”
