“Two types of people laugh at the law: those that break it and those that make it.”
—
Night Watch - Terry Pratchett
On this #Glorious25thOfMay this quote seems particularly apt.

“It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.”

“Sustained grief is particularly disturbing in a culture that offers a quick fix for pain. Sometimes it amazes me to know intuitively that the grieving are all around us yet we do not see any overt signs of their anguished spirits. We are taught to feel shame about grief that lingers. Like a stain on our clothes, it marks us as flawed, imperfect. To cling to grief, to desire its expression, is to be out of sync with modern life, where the hip do not get bogged down in mourning.”

Places to Drink Water Rated by my Cat
Her bowl: disgusting, vile, this is what I’m supposed to drink from so I never will (maybe if no one sees me I’ll take a sip)
The dog’s bowl: decent, not only a crime but also shows the dog who is the boss, not ideal but will do in a pinch, extra points if the dog is watching
The kitchen sink: divine, almost a perfect crime, lots of obstacles which means I’m in the way, not perfect but still fantastic,
The bathroom sink: the nectar of the gods, forces people to get out of their way to turn it on, scares people at 3 am when I sit in there and scream when the lights are turned on, no other water compare
