Elsa’s powers appreciation (part 3 of 4) - Kinetic 

Hi, this is the 3rd post in a series of classifying and documenting Elsa’s powers. The first was making things out of ice/snow (part 1) and the second was freezing and melting (part 2). This post was supposed to be the last but it ballooned into this super long post, so I’m going to have to make a separate 4th post on Elsa in combat. Note: her kinetic powers may be combined with her other powers.

A post on Elsa’s kinetic powers requires gifs!!! 

1. Shooting a snowball into the sky + ‘iceworks”

In Frozen, she shoots a snowball into the sky twice - the gif shows the end of the movie while the left screencap shows her doing it as a child. In Frozen 2, she makes “iceworks” during the Harvest festival. I can’t call them “Fireworks” can I? Lol…

2. Magical ice skating

Our lovely queen can ice skate expertly on HEELS/stilettos. Yes, she does that both in OFA (the gif with her bare legs and some say, no underwear XD) as well as at the end of Frozen (right screencap). The left screencap is slightly different in that we can visibly see her powers coming out of her hands to push herself on ice, but I grouped it in this group for ease.

3. Not slipping on ice

Elsa doesn’t slip on ice where normal people would. Leftmost screencap: she runs on her ice over water while escaping the kingdom; Anna runs after her and slips on the ice. Middle: at the climax of Into The Unknown, she extends the cliff with an ice “shelf” and runs onto the shelf; where a normal person would slide off - she does the opposite and slows down to a halt! It could only be magic. On the right - she is running up the ice “ramp” that she created to try and overcome the waves of the Dark Sea. Interestingly you can see the snowflake motif lighting up under her footsteps.

She did slip on ice, sadly - just before Anna’s accident. 

I think she swore to herself: Never again will I slip on my own ice.

4. Propulsion of the ice boat

When sending Anna and Olaf away (sob!) she stamps on the ground and creates a vast icy path and pushes away the boat with incredible speed. But nothing can overcome Anna’s determination and she manages to (kinda) stop the boat through her ingenuity. Love you, Anna.

5. Blasts of freezing power

There’s a LOT to talk about here. Of course, the blasts are not just a demonstration of kinetic power, as they are combined with her freezing powers.
