When you hear 'Vikings', the first thing that probably comes to mind are giant men, swinging swords and battling till death for honor. I... am not one of them, the complete opposite, using more brain than brawn to complete my tasks. But this has be proven useful....

Hiccup rubbed his hands together in embarrassment at the prince’s complement. His eyes widened at Peter’s offer to be guests at the prince’s celebration, taking in the soot and dirt that covered the blacksmith’s body. Did Hiccup even have anything presentable to wear?
While the teen was having a battle of self-doubt in his own head, Gobber beamed and bowed to the prince. “Ah, thank you, your highness! We will graciously accept your invitation. What time shall we arrive?”
Hiccup almost chocked on his spit hearing Gobber accept the invitation, looking up at his mentor with shock. “W-We’re going?”
“Hush, Hiccup, it’ll be alright.”
@teen-peter
Hiccup moaned weakly when he woke to the sun hitting his face perfectly, the teen rolling over in hopes to just sleep this morning away. But of course fate wouldn’t be on his side. As soon as he saw his owner was awake, Toothless, the teen’s black cat, took the opportunity to pounce. Landing directly on the middle of Hiccup’s back.
“Gah! T-Toothless! You needy cat…. Alright, move, I’ll get your breakfast.” He smirked getting a small mew as a reply and felt the weight disappear off his back. Cat feed, bag filled, food in his own stomach, with a call of ‘good bye!’ to an empty hut, Hiccup was out.
He dodged through the crowd of eager citizens as he headed for the blacksmith’s shop, a smile of his owe adorning his face. Today was very important. And not just for the fact that the shop was going to get an important order today. But because the kingdom’s price had finally reached the age of adulthood, a proud moment for any kingdom when the next in line isn’t killed buy plague, murderers, or enemy kingdoms. Quiet the achievement.
“Morning Gobber!” Hiccup called out as he entered the shop, placing his bag down before jumping over the counter to the heart of the shop.
“Mornin’! And how many times to I have to tell ya to not do that.” The owner, Gobber, glared at his charge for jumping over. “I have a door and everythin’.”
“Give me some entertainment.”
“Uh huh, anyway. How’s the leg?”
Hiccup peered down towards his pseudo leg, the medal squeaking as he placed weight on it. “Not bad. Didn’t hurt this morning. You excited for your next big project?”
“Ha! You know it! I’ve been sketching out designs for the past month! If anything I’ll be happy when I don’t have to worry about this for awhile. Warm up the fire Hiccup! We have a big day ahead of us!”
The teen laughed softly and did as instructed, keeping an ear out for a carriage drawing closer.

“If you really want to, I’d be more than happy to get you up there.” Hiccup smiled before setting up the dummies. He smirked when Toothless bounded over, looking eager as he watched Hiccup. “Not for you buddy. We’re gonna watch the general show his skills with a sword.”
He patted the dragon’s head and joined Kozmotis at the small wall of weapons they held. “See anything you like?”
“You did this? It’s incredible!”
Hiccup flushed softly, attempting to resist the urge to cover up his sketches. It was some sort of ego boost to have a compliment come from the general. “Um, thank you…. There nothing really that impressive.”

Placing the knife down, to make sure everyone was safe from the emotions that were welling up. “Two years? ....I get to see you after two years? Are you joking? Then you stay here for five years and then what? You just leave again. So what are we suppose to do with this...with us? I can’t make you stay and I can’t go with you, we have different goals in mind.... Even if you’re role for your kingdom comes to an end, I’m sure it’s expected that you’re going to retire in the kingdom you protected....”
Hiccup laughed weakly, placing his hands over Kozmotis’. “Guess we really didn’t think this through.”

Hiccup gasped as he sat up quickly, eyes darting around the room quickly. He wasn’t falling, there was no giant fireball closing in on him. He was in his room, safe, with Toothless resting on his slab and Kozmotis standing over him.
“I-I’m fine.... I’m fine.... S-Sorry, I didn’t m-mean to wake you.... Just some stupid dream....”

Kozmotis wakes up to the sound of panicked cries, to the slight thrashing of the young man in the next bed. He blinks in surprise, before slowly getting up, unsure what to do. He gets up and reaches over to gently shake him.
“Hey…wake up. You’re having a nightmare.” He whispers quietly.

“Excellent choice your highness,” Gobber nodded, crossing his arms as he stepped closer to Hiccup, “Expertly made, light, flexible, a good sword if you’re looking for a strong fighter or defender. Designed and created by Hiccup himself. I’m quite proud of his work.”
Hiccup felt his cheeks heat, eyes focusing on the fireplace, hands wringing together. “It’s...it’s not that impressive....”
“Ah, you’re to hard on yourself. Anyway, excellent choice your highness!” Gobber beamed, clapping a hand on Hiccup’s back, causing the other to stumble slightly. “I suppose your ceremony will be starting this evening. Hope you enjoy yourself.”

“You really want to go for a flight?” Hiccup looked back to Kozmotis, surprised that the general would ask to take a flight. If there was one thing the teen had learned about the other was that Kozmotis liked being on the ground. “I’m sure he’d be up for it.”
He flushed softly at the general’s comment, trying not to read to much into it. “Good to know I won’t be on the receiving end.”

Hiccup’s knife stilled hearing this, feeling his stomach disappear. He took a deep breath before he starting cooking again. “Oh, um...w-when do you have to leave?”
He wasn’t looking forward to this answer. The teen knew the general would have to be leaving soon, but it felt like the other has just arrived here.

Hiccup laughed, tacking the picture up onto the wall before facing the general. “Well, as long as I’m not being kabobed, I’m ready. I think Toothless is in the training arena, we can go there.”

Hiccup shivered at the maggots comment, raising a brow back at the general. “That...worries me. How long did you plan on you and your men being out on the sea?”
Starting a fire to get the cauldron warmed up, he pulled out a wooden slab and knife to start cutting up the meat. “I hope you’re all able to get enough to eat before you leave.”

Hiccup snorted weakly hearing the other’s stomach grumble, pulling away to let the other stand up. He happily took the offered hand and stood. “Never thought I’d hear the day that we would be praised for our cooking. Our fighting and dragons sure, but cooking? Better not let my father hear you say that.”
Hiccup teased, leading the way down to the kitchen. “We could make a stew? I think we have some meat that we could use....”

Hiccup tilted his head when Kozmotis’ eyes traveled up to him occationally, but remained quiet with a smile on his face as he waited for the other to finish. He inched forward when the general showed signs that he was finished and took the parchment happily. “Awww, I love it. You actually made me look strong, that’s impressive. I’m keeping it.”

Hiccup flushed softly at the increase pressure, but smiled and entered his room. He bit his lip in a smirk watching Kozmotis take his usual seat, which gave the teen a warm feeling knowing the general actually had a ‘spot’ in his room, before handing a sheet of paper and charcoal over to the general. “I only request that you don’t kill me. Just, you know...kind of a twig here.”
“Now, let me see what you can do.” Hiccup shuffled back until he was sitting on the edge of his bed.

“One drawing, that’s all I ask for. I’ll even give you a trade! You give me one drawing and I’ll spare with you. That way you can see how terrible I am at combat.” Hiccup smiled back at Kozmotis. “I’m not asking for perfection, I’m asking for you.”

“I suppose it’s a good trade off. After all, I’m surprised I even know which end of a sword to even grab.” He paused as an idea formed in his head. He smiled before grabbing the general’s hand and leading him towards his room. “Come on, I want to see you draw.”

“Which everyone speaks to you.” Gobber smiled, stepping back to let Peter view them all. “There’s no rush, this is a rather important moment right now.”
“So no pressure.” Hiccup mumbled weakly, rolling his eyes. If this was seriously the most ‘relaxing’ decision the prince had to make in his life, Hiccup was glad he had the simple life of an apprentice. His eyes roamed over the created swords, tensing realizing that he had worked on some of these.
Oh...oh his work was going before royalty. Gobber didn’t make mention of that! Ok, sure, Hiccup was told that he was working on an important order, but he just assumed it was for an honored veteran. He didn’t know that the prince was going to be presented with them!
Cue the attempts to not hyperventilate in some silent panic.

Hiccup only made a small noise of acknowledgement and was thankful when Gobber swooped in again and lead the prince to the back. He squirmed slightly, not fully sure as to where he was suppose to stand. This was the first time Hiccup had helped Gobber with this kind of project. The last time he made a sword for the royal family was the king’s, for some victory Hiccup assumed.
Hiccup was very aware at how close the guard was standing near him. Did he really seem to be that big of a threat? Either way, Hiccup focused more on Gobber’s speech and each sketch the eager black smith brought out.
