The Crimson Dragoon
Not long after leaving Matoya’s Cave to travel her way to Ishgard, Kaida slightly struggled with a few beasts that would sometimes come in the way. Despite the fact she can fight to survive, she didn’t possess any techniques or had anyone teaching her how to properly fight. Kaida would try her best to fight around with whatever means she had at her disposal. Back at Anyx Trine, she grabbed a few armaments from the rival Gnaths, as they were a nuisance to the dragons, and this was the only thing she knew how to use to fend for herself.
However, she was small and used to the harsh climate, camouflaging and going stealthy was quite easy for her to avoid unnecessary battles. After crossing through the thick snow and thick frozen lakes of the Western Highlands, she finally arrives closer to Falcon’s Nest, and is greeted by some friendly Ishgardian old couple that chanced to be crossing there at the time, on their way back home. Upon seeing Kaida, they somehow felt the need of helping her, as they initially thought she was but a lost child, and decided to play smart to pass through the guards at the entrance.
Given the fact they were Ishgardians, the guards paid no close attention to Kaida and she was allowed to go with the old couple. They then invited her to their home and were curious about her tale. Accepting the offer of a warm and comfortable place, she explains her origin and her relation to dragons. Of course this wouldn’t have been a smart idea, if it were in another time… But as the Dragonsong War was long over, and the old couple, by luck, was pretty open minded and understanding, they didn’t get scandalised or disturbed by Kaida.
She then revealed her horns and claws, and instead of being afraid, the couple widened their eyes with curious gazes, questioning how that was possible. They knew that the people of Ishgard would resent her… Even if in these current days they had their borders open to foreigners, the people were still very reserved and somehow ''harsh'' towards outsiders. They allowed Kaida to stay with them for as long as she needed, and the old lady took her around quite often so she could see all corners of the city, both high and low places. Kaida grew fond of the place and mentioned she would like to be accepted there, however, given her appearance, it would be an extremely hard task for that to happen… But an idea crossed the mind of the old lady, and she suggested her to learn how to fight. Becoming a Knight wasn’t exactly appealing to Kaida… But the lady shaking her head, said instantly. '' Choose the path of a Dragoon. '' Kaida’s heart raced upon hearing the idea and how they fight. The old lady explained everything she knew about them and that was enough to drive her to decide to take the Lance. Her husband himself was a dragoon too, many years ago, on his prime and young days. At home, he gave more detailed explanations about it to Kaida, who was eager and determined to become one herself. He suggested for her to start her training in Gridania, as they would be more friendly and welcoming to her. So she decided to pack the little things she had, grabbed a map the couple had given her, and off she went.
Her journey was already taking shape, and she was growing wiser and stronger with each passing day. Taking the armor and weapon the couple had gifted her, she trained on her own as she ventured herself towards Gridania, where she would begin her proper training… and become an official Dragoon.

Character Lore: Awn-Ya Kaida
Race: Lalafell
Age: ??? ( Accurate Age Unknown ) Estimate would be around 28 Winters.
Adoptive Mother: Vidofnir
During the events of Nidhogg’s rage and attacks to Ishgard, a merchant family of Lalafells, with a new borne baby, was staying over for business as usual, but is caught in the stressful and chaotic war that took over the city, and in the middle of all suspicion and anxiety, they were accused of heresy. Some Ishgardian merchants plotted on them saying they were involved with the allied heretics of the dragons, and so, the Lalafell family was forced to flee the city and run away through the harsh weather conditions of Coerthas Western Highlands. Despite the fact they successfully escaped the Ishgardian Knights that were hunting them down, upon reaching the Dravanian lands, the parents were brutally slain by three dragons from Nidhogg’s brood. Before the mother drew her last breath, she managed to hide her baby inside a broken dragon eggshell that was nearby. The location was very close to Anyx Trine, and fortunately for her, the great white wyrm, Vidofnir, saw the tragic situation, and took the baby with her to safety.
Vidofnir adopted and raised the baby Lalafell and named her Awn-Ya Kaida, meaning Fire and Little Dragon.
Appearance wise, Kaida actually had very light blonde hair in the beginning, but due to the harsh cold weather, her hair gradually became white, with some bits of ash grey on the ends, and her eyes were a very deep blood red color. Coincidentally, very similar to Vidofnir’s scales and eye coloration. This made the other dragons believe she was truly destined to be with the wyrm, and was easier for the dragon kin to accept her as their own. A curious side note, is that on her 21st Summer, Kaida started to develop dragon horns and longer sturdy nails, shaping like claws. What caused this phenomena to happen is yet unknown. But the wyrms believe it took effect due to the long exposure in the dragon environment.
As soon Kaida was of age and ready to venture the world, Vidofnir gave her the task to leave Anix Trine and learn more of her people. Despite being considered a dragon kin, she was also a daughter of men. And so, she believed it would help her daughter to experience and see what the world has to offer. She first traveled to the Dravanian Hinterlands and set destination to Idyllshire, since it was populated by all kinds of people, treasure hunters and goblins alike. Since Idyllshire is extremely rich with historical artifacts left by the wise Sharlayans, Vidofnir hoped Kaida would be able to start and do a lot of research there, including safe refuge in the abandoned houses as well. For a few years, she studied and met several people along the way, even the famous Matoya, who took interest in the dragon’s child and her story. Matoya then suggested Kaida to travel to Old Sharlayan and gave her a recommendation letter so she could be allowed in the city to study. But before that, she should go to Ishgard and the other city estates, going through Eorzea. Books alone don’t do enough justice, she would want Kaida to see and experience life, seeing things with her own eyes. She was more than ready to start her own adventure, and face whatever perilous beasts that would coming in her way.
