(extending hiatus)

Due to my law school starting and how busy things will get, I'm going to have to extend my hiatus on this blog for the foreseeable future, at least for this first semester. I've already messed up law school once because I got distracted, I can't afford to mess up again so for the sake of my focus and studies, I have to do this. This blog isn't being closed or anything like that, it is still here and I will come back to it once possibly after this semester is over and I can handle the study load better. I love you all and will be back soon :)

a constant eye upon her child as he does what he believes is right  ––– –  what is right. still worried to see him amongst the chaos, but knows she won’t be able to keep him away. they all have duties ;  and they cannot do  nothing. some might not survive, but  a lot  more will, and all thanks to steven’s action. the only left for her to do is save others, and wait for him to return.

Everything was going well. The wounded was getting treated and moved to safety. They were all being taken care of. Steven had every intention of heading back to his mother when a blast knocked him off his feet, sending him flying across the field. He coughs a little at the dust that collected around him and struggles to get back to his feet.

“it’s not–” she sighed through her nose, face contorting as she tried to piece her ideas together. “it’s more than just blending in, kid. it’s about FEAR.” arms rose and flapped back down at her sides, making her cape flare out ungracefully ever so slightly. “the boss says criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot–and they ARE–the bat is supposed to feed off of that fear, scare them away. and, well, be a target when necessary, too, to put the innocent out of harm’s way.”

Steven raised an eyebrow and gave the other a look, “Fear? What is so scary about bats? They’re actually quite gentle creatures and more frightened of us than we are of them...” It was a genuine question, really, because Steven had never found any animal that terrifying so the notion of using bats to draw upon fear is entirely lost on him.

“Considering you strength young one I would suggest telling the teacher.  Your stronger than everyone else so you don’t want to accidentally hurt them.  Do you understand?”  She asked her eyebrow asking her question as well as her mouth.  She had feared something like this would happen but she continued anyway.

“I understand Mama, I don’t want to hurt them, I just want them to stop.” Steven wasn’t the type to start fights or wanting to hurt anyone, revenge wasn’t something that young one ever thought about. “What if sometimes the teachers don’t listen? Should I tell you then and you can talk to them?”

“Can it be a big fluffy box? The most fluffy fluff there is?” Steven giggles as he tries to imagine the little creature swaddled in all the fluff.

Steve chuckled at his son and said, “I don’t know if we want it to be that fluffy, may loose track of the kitten from all the fluff.” 

“we can put a bell on him! that way we will always know where he is!” Steven exclaimed triumphantly.

The agent walks over to him. She knew many of the agents here had kids, but when they brought them to work the kids were young enough to be put in the daycare or it took your kid to work day. ❝Did you lose your parent? Or are they in a meeting right now?❞

“Mom is in a meeting, she wanted me to wait out here...”

Part of Steven wishes that he could actually appear his age, or at least look like an adult so people would stop treating him like a child or that he couldn’t protect himself. But Mom had always said that it wouldn’t be safe that way so Steven had to keep up the act. “Are you an agent?”

This kid was certainly an optimist … and confident.  Five wasn’t sure if he was naive or arrogant or both.  Maybe he was just delusional.  Still, Five himself had been a part of a group of people who had remarkable abilities and it was quite possible that this boy had a secret of his own so … maybe he was just what he was, at face value, and he wasn’t arrogant or naive at all.  Should he go with this boy and risk exposing him to danger?  Or should he move on his way and spare this kid?  Five knew he had nothing to lose, and the offer of a meal was tempting, but at the same time there was still that nagging tug at his conscience.  “You’re very persistent,” he finally replied.  “I have a feeling you’re not going to take ‘no’ for an answer.”

Steven smiles at the comment, “I take after my mother, she’s very persistent too...” In fact, his mother is even more persistent than Steven himself was. If this had been his mother, Steven was sure that the decision would have already been made and the boy at the house already eating a good meal. “But I suppose you’re right, I wouldn’t really take no for an answer. Come on, just one night, and if you want to leave in the morning, you can. Surely one night can’t hurt.”

Bright smile along rose red lips curled as Diana looked upon her child.  She missed Steve much and promised to take care of their child while he was gone.  Bending down so she could brush their hair out of their face she smiled.  “Why hello there.  How was school?”  She asked raising a eyebrow hoping and expecting everything to be fine.

Steven liked school, he liked to learn, but he’s not sure he likes some of the people he had come to know. “Mommy, what should I do if I see someone is mean to someone else? Should I tell a teacher? Or do I stop it myself?” The little one is older than his physical appearance but he was never quite sure on the rules of engagement towards other children. After all, he’s much stronger physically than they are and he wouldn’t want to do something that could hurt them.

﹙The one time I actually decide to come to work early, all the weird shit start to begin.﹚Celaena felt as if she should be used to weird things happening to her.  If waking up with powers after a freak explosion wasn’t weird, then half the shit she has seen while working for SHIELD had to be.

“Am I not allowed to be here?”

Steven looked at her with a curious tilt of his head. He doesn’t know her face, but then again, he doesn’t know many people’s faces around here. SHIELD had wanted to speak to his mother and that was the only reason that Steven had come along.

With his mother’s blessing, Steven smiles one more time before taking off running towards the injured across the field. Gunfire and explosions did not concern him as he tried to stabilize the wounded. He kept himself between the bullets and the ones he had swore to defend, bandaging up the wounds before carrying them, one by one, back across the field to safety.

“yes, but i can’t exactly deflect bullets in a jacket and a hat, right? i need a little more support than that if i want to keep the blood inside, where it belongs.”

“It’s not as if you cannot make jackets and hats that would deflect bullets...surely the same material for your costumes can be used to make other things too...”
