at the beginning of the month i finished, the middle. i discovered this show when i was about 11-12 (when i still had cable). i would scroll through channels after school and sometimes this show would pop up and made me happy momentarily.

fast forward to 2021, with my hbomax subscription i discovered they put the middle on hbomax. i was really excited to watch it from front to back.

this show. it was witty, real, sad, hopeful, negative, diverse, loving, ever-growing, and FUNNY.

mike was blunt & the secretly caring father who would do anything for his family… and the colts.

frankie was a positive & honest mother for her kids. she was real and wasn’t afraid of showing what she was feeling, which was good for the kids but also.. frightening.

axl. oh axl. the doofus. my personal favorite and also the person who developed the most. even throughout all 9 seasons and over 200 episodes, he stayed tired, hungry, and funny. his role as oldest brother was sometimes unfit but his relationship with brick & sue grew into a really nice thing. i can’t say enough about axl, i love him.

sue is the lighthouse. the perseverance and strength she has is something so inspiring. her all around passion for everything, and finding something good about even inconveniences. her morals and also understanding that all people are just as worthy to be loved.

brick. the brains. brick’s intelligence and want for knowledge helped this family out in ways they didn’t know. brick provided patience and grace. he loves his books but he never stopped wanting to learn more about his family. lawn chair - dinner chair <3

this show made me really happy and throughout it, i kept a list of every episode that i enjoyed and smiled at for each season. i’m excited to make some of those into gifs.
