The plan is to systemize my axe murderer impulses in one place, but lets just see where it goes...

Yesterday I briefly let my brother try the Kalthoff axe. I had no plan for the films, but I post them to show the size and the sharpness. The wood is pine (the good stuff, from the roof beams of a 300 year old church) and some dry birch. What he's saying is "what I lack in precision it takes up with its sharpness". #axejunkies #axeporn #kalthoffaxes #carvingaxe https://www.instagram.com/p/Br0ooCSgEXe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1h04ysh79vrog

Well, it's #swedishsteelsaturday today, and I have time to post these new babies. 3 #säter axes, and on top a #mustad What's the connection? Mustad bought Säter yxfabrik in 1965 for the purpose to produce these very axes, that where called Säterpilen. These were regarded as the best axes by Norwegian lumberjacks. #axejunkies #axeporn #swedishsteel #oldtools #vintagetools https://www.instagram.com/p/BrbIUR8nY9M/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=zij45cp712dq

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The hat is made by @p_van_alden the bowl by @ingmaraldenhov and the axe... the axe is by Bodin, some time between 1889-1962. The small stamp is unknown to me, so I don't know which one of them made it... #axejunkies #axeporn #øks #vintagetools #oldtools https://www.instagram.com/p/Bra6HF_HPRb/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1gd3ayayaost3

The plan today was to make 13 masks for my axes, I had a new design in my head, super easy to make... Instead, here is a picture of something else. #vintagetools #oldtools #handtools #hammers https://www.instagram.com/p/BqVF-E_AOgr/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=16glwrcpx89pj

This one is a Laftebile from Tinn in Telemark, southeast Norway. I haven't managed to identify the blacksmith, but judging by the shape I'm thinking 19th century, possibly middle or early. @larshaandverker #axejunkies #axeporn #axe https://www.instagram.com/p/BqFi_u0AVna/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=b6lnd9bpz6l1

These are the last 4 I finished before the makers market today. the first and the last are Mustad, the first one is actually a NOS, except I oiled the handle and buffed off som rust from storage. The overstrike guard on the no name splitter isn't fitted yet, and the swedish carpenters axe is also no name, but those almost always are... First day went ok, the weather sucked, but I made some sales, but tomorrow is usually the best day. knock on wood... #axejunkies #axeporn #axe #toolhoarder #mustad https://www.instagram.com/p/BpchTKEAkWY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mogxj0zipofi

So I have my workshop in a small village with lots of strange people, and we are doing a makers market this coming weekend. To that end I have tried to prepare a little, I must say that the separation anxiety is getting stronger, but I will endure. It would be nice to sell something I guess... #axejunkies #axeporn #axe #makersmarket #oldtools #vintagetools #otherrelevanthashtags https://www.instagram.com/p/BpRk9TBigxh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=sy6nrr5gaohh

This is an old Mustad from when the factory was still at Gjøvik, so back in the 19th century. It doesn't have the old Støbestaal stamp, cast steel in English. They usually do, meaning this could be very early, or something else. sometimes stamps needs replacing. I'm very happy with the axe though, I did put it in the shop, but I priced it so high it probably won't sell... I regret nothing! #mustad #axejunkies #axeporn #axe #oldtools https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo7WJZNgsMv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=184pj2gsahx5d

A very local axesmith, these HOK axes was made a few hundred meters from where I live. HOK was active during the last half of the 19th century. I just got 2 new, along with the long one that I don't know anything about. I have 4 in total, one resteeled by Knudsensmia, another local axeforge, and another resteeled by Kleven, yet another local axesmith. So this is some really local stuff right here :) #axejunkies #axeporn #axe #localhistory #norwegiansteel https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo6HDD6gKUS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lvd3scvrxuh8

Measure stick. Made in England, Warranted Boxwood. One side has English inches, the other side Norwegian inches. Now, the most experienced, and the ones with the keenest eyes, notice that there are 24 English inches, but only 23 Norwegian. Which means the Norwegian inches are longer. Which means that a 6 inch Norwegian is bigger than a 6 inch English. :D #feelthedifference #inches #oldtools #vintagetools https://www.instagram.com/p/Boj3dLjAZsh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=146ykbjo80ivo
