An extraordinarily skilled poet, musician, and playwright, Wu Zao occupies a liminal yet luminous place in the history of Chinese literature—and increasingly, in the evolving narrative of China’s LGBTQ+ cultural heritage. Born at the turn of the 19th century, Wu Zao emerged as a singular voice in a literary canon typically dominated by men, and carved a space for herself within intellectual and artistic traditions that rarely welcomed women, let alone those who dared to defy gender and sexual norms. While many of the particular details surrounding her existence remain uncertain, Wu Zao’s surviving writings subtly but powerfully permeate with erotic ambiguity and convey the deep emotional bonds she forged with other women throughout her lifetime. Through careful translation and scholarly interpretation, Wu Zao has emerged in more recent years as a figure who, with quiet defiance, charted her own path on the margins of Qing Dynasty society to challenge socio-cultural constraints placed on gender and sexuality. Today, Wu Zao’s creative legacy not only enriches the canon of classical Chinese literature but also expands the landscape of Chinese queer history, offering a rare glimpse into the complexities of queer desire and expression from a time and place where such notions were seldom recorded.

Heard an interview on NPR of a 'small mother-daughter hair accessories company, working from the dining room table at home...' thats business will be affected by the tariffs because 'we manufacture in China!'!!! And if one good thing comes of these horrible stupid tariffs I hope it stops all these American 'small business owners 🥺' from obfuscating their participation in imperial exploration. And I hope everyone finally processes that all the fanart acrylic keychains and plushies of niche microcelebrities ocs that are just 'supporting small artists!!' are manufactured in the same way everything else is thats consumed by this ugly country is.

if you ever used the trolley problem to describe the genocide the US is funding as a 'lesser evil' you're not allowed to be angry when someone implies the economic collapse of the US would be worth it if it forces the US to loosen its chokehold on other regions. you can't suddenly start finding the trolley metaphor disgusting only when you find yourself on the other train track. either you've always been against it or you shut the fuck up.

The bimbo feminism girls who love Legally Blonde really missed like the whole point of the movie. The point is that she's not a brainless bimbo. She saves the day with her knowledge of haircare, sure, but she got in the room by going to law school. You cannot reduce that movie down to "Girl knowledge saves the day!" because the perm wouldn't have mattered if she hadn't spent the entire rest of the movie working her ass off in an unrelated field. The feminist angle is that she can have girly interests and also be smart, not that having girly interests is feminist in itself

like the return of the r slur and horrible fatphobia and gay jokes and the misogyny oh my fucking god can we talk about the misogyny. we have culturally regressed to the eary 2010s but when you try to call people out they’re liek ohhh it’s just a joke 😂. i’m sorry but i don’t want to hear jokes about pedophilia or about rape or about racism that is not funny and it never will be. everything is ironic and if you get offended it’s cuz you’re a crazy femnazi who cares too much. because it’s apparently uncool to take anything serious or do anything with actual sincerity anymore

An Asian American feminist movement is vital for the larger project of uncovering the social structure, with its built-in injustices and inequities, that affect us all. In today’s global economy, in which nothing is certain for anyone save the most elite of the elite, this is a project that vitally concerns the majority.
…Asian American women are already making their movement happen. A different sort of Dragon Lady is emerging — not a cold-blooded reptile, but a creature who breathes fire

my favorite coworker told me the scenario she thinks of to fall asleep is she stumbles upon a baby sheep and has to raise it and it grows up and she has to shear it and she says she envisions shearing it so carefully that she always falls asleep at that part

me, every single time i see people (especially women) talking about the divine feminine energy, or the sacredness of the womb or whatever it is now:

[image description: a two-panel photo of a person dialling a number and then placing the phone to their ear. the contact is saved as ‘Ursula K. Le Guin’ /end ID]
context is this quote by her:
But I didn’t and still don’t like making a cult of women’s knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men don’t know, women’s deep irrational wisdom, women’s instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior – women’s knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think?

objectively the funniest moral panic to come from conservatives is "alternative energy is bad because birds might fly into the wind turbines". birds, which notoriously have no other man-made obstacles, such as the window
