Light & L always got what they wanted in one way or the other, in light's case by being a good boy and L well?all he had to do was ask. The only true obstacle in their way was eachother. They can only end one way but it's fun to imagine a au where they're friends, to quote the death note jdrama

THIS LINE is just the essence of lawlight. Their love will never fully be realised, their egos, their warped sense justice just won't allow it. They will never be happy together no matter which life it is.

Their love is a flower that was never meant to grow in the first place yet it did and now it will wither and die like it never existed like it was always meant to be.

yes the shower scene in the j-drama was fanservice but it also does the same but opposite sound design thing as the rain scene as ep 25 - when L accuses light in the j-drama, the shower gets louder instead of completely cutting to silence

I think that drama Light and L are closer to being "actual" friends than any other version of them in the other adaptations of Death Note. While L says his usual line about how it would be a shame if Light were Kira because he's his first friend, he really seems to mean it and take it completely seriously in that version. He states outright (in a situation where there would be no point in lying or saying half-truths) that a part of him wouldn't even mind if Light really wasn't Kira after all, and the possibility (hope?) seems to actually stick in his mind somewhat, something we don't see from the Ls in the other adaptations.

Not to mention they take the "first/only friend" thing very directly in this adaptation, and L seems so sincere about it when he says that Light is the first person that he's ever been interested in, when he reaffirms that he was his only friend, when he tells Light to just tell him the truth and that he wishes they could've met under different circumstances. It's so fucking Doomed it's great

I wanna make a longass post going over all the small changes and details about Light and L's dynamic in the drama one day because it's genuinely like. Oddly sincere and it's really gay I think about it so often ough. Anyways point is I think everyone should draw dramaverse lawlight now actually like they are so Interesting and Sad everyone should do it now
