Alyona hadn’t expected anybody to be around, especially in the diner, her shift at the clinic had just finished and she wanted to relax and lay low, she was reading a comic when she was approached, by a person she hadn’t met before, “I’m Alyona, please call be Aly. It’s nice to meet you Birch.” Alyona stretched her hand out for a handshake, even if the world was gone it didn’t mean her manners were, “I would have been in college right now if the world never ended.”

“I think we all wondered about a bit to get here, well I personally drove, it was like a mad max movie outside, I think I once saw a cult. Also good to know you’re not a murderer, but I don’t think anybody is truly innocent here.” Alyona herself wasn’t completely innocent when it came to murder, not that she’d let anybody know that.

“I suppose I’m expected to introduce myself since I’m a newcomer and all.” Birch looked to the floor and scratched the top of his nose with one finger before looking back up again, not really making eye contact. “Uh, I’m Birch. I was… going to college when it all started happening.”

He obviously isn’t eager to tell anything about himself. “I stayed in my dorm for a while, and then I eventually left. Wandered around, alone. Then I found this place. I guess that’s all there is to tell, really. Also I’m not like a murderer or anything, so I hope no one will object too much to me being here.” Birch chuckled sheepishly, scrubbing the tip of his right shoe on the floor.

as he glanced at abandoned house, a few windows shattered but usually no signs anyone else ever came by here. “ I used to come here everyday, or try too. but when i was reassigned as cook, i just kinda stopped coming out for awhile, but i’ve missed it soo much. upstairs is where all the good stuff is. “ 

It made sense to Alyona now, he was probably much more braver than Alyona, even if he was younger than her, she knew he was once a supply runner, nobody had told her why he wasn’t now though but she could take a guess. “You’ve gotta feel sorry for these people though, they pay so much to keep a house running then the world turns to shit and you lose everything, maybe even your life.” Alyona hadn’t realised how somber her tone was, “But yeah upstairs where all the comics are sometimes they help me escape reality.”

“Did you hear about that poor soul who died? I heard Nikki talking about it on the radio, it’s a shame we couldn’t do something for them, but if we help at least one person I’ll be happy.”

axlyona:

“If it’s not busy I’ll totally restock and do all that stuff.” Though Alyona was a trainee, she needed to know where everything was if there was an emergency, “I hope nobody got too injured on their journey though.”

“Nothing too bad, bumps and bruises and everything in between that will heal just fine. They’re lucky no one was infected.”

ALYONA SORENSEN is a 18 year old survivor who looks like SABRINA CARPENTER, we heard SHE was staying at the MOTEL. When they entered they declared the kill count of 1 HUMAN AND 25+ ZOMBIES but wouldn’t trust it to much. Currently found carrying MATCHES, BANDAGES, CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, AN IPOD in their backpack. They have been assigned the job of MEDIC TRAINEE due to their personality +OPTIMISTIC & RESOURCEFUL but if you ask me they are more -NAIVE & BLUNT.

“WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF, LETS SAY IN ANOTHER LIFE??”

I was going to attend university, I was going to get out of the house, I was going to do something with my life, but that ended pretty drastically, I was a straight A student, I was going to go to one of the best universities in the world but I suppose you can’t dwell on the fact the worlds ended and now you don’t have to go into education and pay so much money, which by the way is ridiculous, over nine thousand a year! A Y E A R!

“FIRSTS ARE A BIG THING, HUH? FIRST KISS, FIRST PET, FIRST KILL. NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST.”

My aunt, she was my first kill, and my last, we couldn’t save her, she was already gone, and then I killed my zombified family, it wasn’t fair to lose them like that, I liked them more than my own parents, but that wasn’t hard to do. I haven’t had my first kiss, I was sixteen when the apocalypse began and I wasn’t that popular.

“THIS IS A SAFE PLACE, DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER SAFE PLACES? ”

I suppose I found a place with Scout where we could just be alone for a few hours and read comics, that’s about it, maybe even my motel room, it’s not quiet though, I’m always hearing someone hanging around.

“FAMILY – I KNOW SOMETIMES IT’S A TOUCHY SUBJECT BUT DO YOU THINK WE COULD TALK A BIT MORE ABOUT THEM?”

Would I be heartless to say I don’t miss them? I was never really close to them, when my dad and sister died it didn’t really impact me as much as it did my brother, maybe I detached myself from them? It’s not their fault completely, they weren’t the best, neither was my mum, she could be dead for all I know, she was still in Norway. But I do love my brother significantly more, we’ve grown closer, well that wasn’t hard to do, we have nine+ years difference, and he wasn’t around much when I was growing up, but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone who was involved.

scout was a firm believer that everyone should leave the walls every once in awhile atleast, a reminder of the old world, reminder of what happened and whats out there. the trees shaded them from the beating sun – thankfully. he offered the other a gentle smile as she spoke. “ understand, completely. i live in a shared house, there’s ALWAYS people in there, never really quiet. “ it wasn’t long into the walk he pointed towards the house he spoke of. 

Alyssa understood the need for quiet, she didn’t enjoy living with her brother for that brief period, so she could relate to him somewhat, at least she had gotten out though, “That sucks, but at least you’re never alone, it’s a bit like that at the motel too, there’s always somebody around.” She wasn’t expecting the short trip to be that short, but she was happy that she’d have some new material to read, those same comics and books could only be read so many times, “So how often do you come here? Because you seem to know this place pretty well.”

“Not exactly, but I think I want to venture out for a bit, wanna come with?” She always had the thought on her mind of leaving for an hour or two, but never fully went through with it because she didn’t have others with her. Maybe Alyona could be the change of that, if not, it wouldn’t bother her, but they could come up with a better plan instead, due to how much was within the place.

“Sure, it gets a bit boring in here sometimes, especially with everybody busy.” Alyona knew how it felt to want to get out for an hour or two, she just never really had the opportunity, sure she’s been outside with Scout, but it isn’t regular, “We do need a plan though, I’m not sure they’d just let us walk outside.”

“I guess you’re right, there’s always a silver lining.” The only silver lining to this new world was, for her, Keith. Someone she never would have met if this world didn’t go to shit. “Some of the supplies need to be updated on our chart if you need something to do later on!”

OUTSIDE THE WALLS was where Scout loved to be honestly, if he wasn’t in the kitchen or helping out around the outpost, he was venturing. the world was much different now, but if you went at the right time of day, with the sun high in the sky and just a gentle breeze – it was almost as if nothing had changed, it was like being out in the woods and knowing you’re safe. but of course, that wasn’t always the case. with a smile on his face, he waved at the other. “ i’m ready. “ he nodded towards his back pack, this was the first time he had been outside the wall in awhile, he stopped going so frequently when his accident occured on his run with joshua and oliver and he lost his supply runner position. it put him in a funk and he wasn’t sure if he could protect himself, but he was getting over that. as the two headed out of the outpost, scout was very cautious of their surroundings. “ it feels great, right??”

Alyona was happy, she wasn’t just feeling contempt, she was going to do something exciting for once, not just the mediocre life she was living now, she was going to explore and it wasn’t on her own, it was with her new friend - could she call him that? - Scout, she hadn’t been out for a while so it was a bit different, she was going to have to be cautious and remember that she couldn’t talk too loudly otherwise they could be in trouble, “Lets get going then.” Alyona smiled, as they headed out of the outpost, she had forgotten how desolate everything was, but it was their world now and it did belong to them. “It’s been so long since I’ve been out, I was starting to get angsty, but it’s just how I remembered it and that’s definitely not a bad thing.

“Yes - you know me always there. After something like this there’s always going to be a few mishaps and accidents. Better to be prepared than in a panic.” 

“Hopefully not too many, but hey, at least we have more supplies now, if anything good came out of the storm, that’s definitely it. Even if we had to wait it out, at least we’re okay now, I suppose.”

Eden looked up from her book to see who was there. She noticed Alyona, someone she wasn’t too familiar with, but she wasn’t opposed to get to know her more. Especially with such crappy weather like it was. “Hey, you there,” she walked over toward her, her book by her side. “Are you up to anything right now?” She thought maybe she could make a friend and it’s name wasn’t alcohol.

Alyona hadn’t had a conversation with Eden - well one that wasn’t simple pleasantries, it was a shock to be approached, though she wasn’t mad about it, quite the opposite, “I don’t have any plans, do you need any help with anything?”

Alyona wasn’t sure if she should go through with it, it had been awhile since she had been outside, and she wasn’t even allowed to go outside, maybe that’s what it made it fun for her, plus Scout was there too, she couldn’t take the fall completely. Spotting Scout, Alyona smiled, “Ready to go?” Alyona had asked him, she wasn’t sure if it was too rude to not greet him.

She snorted. “I wish I was optimistic like you.” If backup generators weren’t working then… well, they’d have to see, didn’t they? Leonie followed after the girl and nodded. “Thank you so much. Seriously.” 

Taking the clothes, she stepped towards the bathroom and got herself cleaned up. The girl was shorter than her so the top was a bit stretched, but still wearable. Once she was done, she stepped out with the used towel draped over her head. “Sorry, do you have an extra blanket I can use?” Her hair was damp and the coolness of the weather still gave her slight tremors.

“I try to make a positive situation out of everything.” Alyona explained, though she hadn’t been feeling particularly positive the moment the storm had hit, she felt significantly better now. In her mind it could be worse, it could be a continuous storm which lasted over a week but it seemed like it was quietening down. “It’s seriously no trouble, sorry it doesn’t exactly fit but it’s the best I could do.”

Alyona didn’t have visitors very often, especially not in her room, so thinking about where the blanket would be completely baffled her, “I’ll check in the closet, that’s where people tend to keep them, right?” Checking the closet she found what she was looking for, gathering the blanket, Alyona passed it to Leonie.

“ that’d be neat, emily has some new boxes in her shop but she hasn’t looked through them yet – maybe she’ll have something you’d like. “ he nodded his head, maybe the storm wasn’t the worst thing that could of happened – clearing his throat softly. “ there as this house not to far from here – abandoned, i usually go and hand out, one of the kids had SO many comics, i didn’t take them – i just go out and read them, get out sometimes is nice.” he chuckled.

“I’ll have to speak to Emily soon, I could do with new books in general, rereading most of the stuff in the library can get pretty boring.” Alyona laughed, it wasn’t like there was a fiction section either, well they were rebuilding it. “We should check it out sometime, I’m not sure how or when but it’ll be cool, I haven’t been out since I got here.”

“You should get out of the rain! It’s not safe.” Isobel said as she headed back towards the clinic. 

“I was on my way to the clinic, I figured most people would want to go there in a time like this.” Alyona smiled at the woman, she had worked with her before, being the trainee she didn’t know that much, “I’m guessing that’s where you’re heading too.”

“ no way – that’s awesome!!” he mumbled out before he plopped down in one of the booths, “ i had a deadpool comic but this has been the only one i haven’t left the gates to much recently.. “ scout gave the girl a smile, he was glad someone else shared his interest in comic books – and she apparently had some he hadn’t read.

“That’s so cool, I love his adventures with Spiderman, but I do prefer the New Mutants in the Marvel universe, I haven’t found any of their comics yet, but I’ve asked a few people to lookout for them.” Alyona explained, she felt like a kid again, a kid who didn’t have to worry about anything but this conversation. “We could totally trade comics one time if you’re bored.”

She swore she heard a chorus sing in the background when the door opened, revealing a shorter blonde behind it. Oh, and she was super generous. Leonie shivered at the gush of wind, gripping her own arms, and it was difficult to see that she was nodding. “P-please,” she answered shakingly as she practically leaped into the room.

“This storm just about ruined everyone’s day, didn’t it?” she managed to even make jokes even though she felt like she was undergoing hypothermia. “I’m so sorry I had to barge in your space like this.. I’m just an idiot.” 

It wasn’t a shock to see the other girl in this state, Alyona had mainly avoiding going outside - she was unlucky when it hit, she was on her way home and she too had gotten soaked so she knew the other girls pain. “Well at least it’s just a storm, once it’s blew over I’m sure we’ll have power but I do worry about the others.”

Alyona didn’t mind much, she was sure somebody else would do this for her too, “It’s completely fine, I’m not going to leave you outside to die, who’s gonna be in my girl gang if we all die off?” Alyona had tried to joke while looking for extra clothes - specifically warm clothes, picking out a set, Alyona set them down on the bed. “I’m assuming our layout is the same? Towels should be in the bathroom and hopefully the clothes will fit.”
