miss hibiscus - chapter 3 : joes crashing out

you, fumiko, chiyo, and kenji, had just arrived at the italian restaurant on the corner of the block. it looked pretty small and cozy and had "Sia la luce" written in gold letters.

kenji walked in first and held the door open for you guys to come in. once it opened, a little bell chimed, signifying there was customers. you four then heard a man say,

"i told you guys not to come" with an exasperated sigh.

"uhh...i'm sorry?" you talked out loud, confused, why didn't this man want you guys here?

the man slowly turned his head around with the most shocked face ever.

"oh my! i am so sorry!" he bowed his head ever so slightly, "i mistook you guys for someone else." he gave a nervous smile and rubbed the back of his head.

chiyo laughed and told him not to worry, you guys then sat down at a booth near the wall.

"guys but like, hear me out.." fumiko said to you guys quietly with a smirk on her face. you and chiyo laughed out loud and kenji chuckled.

"no but i literally get it" chiyo responded.

"can you guys stop being freaks for like one hour?" kenji asked, annoyed.

the man from the counter then came up to you guys and introduced himself as joe, he said he'd take your guys' orders.

"i'll have the-" before you could finish ordering, the little bell chimed and a loud voice came in laughing. you guys all turned your heads and saw, reki, langa, and some other little kid.

the man, joe, looked annoyed at them. when they all met his eyes, he told them to go sit down and be quiet.

but before they sat, reki saw you and your friends.

"oh hey y/n!" reki waved to you from the other side of the restaurant.

"hi reki" you waved back to him.

joe looked at you and asked, "you know him?" seeming surprised.

"oh yea, i met him today, he's in my physics class."

the 3 boys then walked over to your guys' table, langa said hi to you guys and reki questioned, "so, what are you guys doing here?"

"we just wanted to try some new food." chiyo responded.

"from this dump? bad move." the little boy next to joe said, focused on some game on his nintendo switch.

"excuse me?" joe looked down at the boy.

"i just spoke my truth." the boy talked back.

"oh so thats why everytime you're here you gobble up everything i make right?" joe said.

your whole table started laughing.

"thats actually crazy work" chiyo said with tears in her eyes.

"tch. whatever." the little boy responded and went to go sit down.

"so sorry about that guys, what can i get you?" joe asked again.

you guys all ordered but before he could walk away, langa said, "hey, we came here for food too believe it or not." sounding pissed.

joe paused and turned his head around, then said,

"i'm about to crash out."

you guys all bursted out laughing, you were thinking why a grown man like him even knew that term. he then walked away, not bothering to take reki and langas orders.

"langa, how do you know that guy?" kenji asked.

"uhh...skateboarding?" he looked at reki worriedly, not wanting to say he was an illegal street skater and thats how they met.

"sounds like you're trying to convince yourself more than us." you said and chuckled.

"wait, why are you skating with old guys?" chiyo asked. then fumiko added on, "and do you guys also skate with that little boy?" pointing to miya.

reki and langa looked at eachother and sighed, how would they explain this?

"so basically..." reki started, "we met at...um, the skatepark."

"and then we.... became friends." langa ended the story there.

"righttt!" you said as you and your friends started snickering.

"yea that made complete sense," kenji said sarcastically, "anyways, whos the kid?" he pointed to miya.

"oh, thats miya chinen, he skates with us too," reki introduced him, "miya, come here." he called the boy over.

when he came to where you guys were sitting he was eyeing you down, "i've seen you somewhere before." miya said, pointing at you.

he was silent for a while until you said, "okay...where?"

he snapped his fingers as if finally recalling the memory, "the news."

"y/n, why were you on the news?" langa turned towards you and asked.

"i think they were interviewing me and chiyo about soccer." you explained.

"i felt so famous when they called me up." chiyo added.

"hah, don't feel too flattered, i'm only 13 and people are calling me a japanese national team hopeful." he bragged.

you shared a side eye with chiyo, confused.

"do you want a cookie?" chiyo questioned sarcastically.

miya then side eyed her.

"what sport are you even tall enough to go pro in?" kenji asked sarcastically.

before miya could respond, joe came with your guys' food. he served you guys the food then eyed down reki and langa and said, "and you guys are actually paying this time." he then looked back at the four of you and told you guys to enjoy.

miss hibiscus - chapter 2 : they're homosexuals🤯

as the class began, you listened to your teacher talk about the new lesson you guys will be learning and explained it for 20 minutes. she then announced the class would be working on a month long project.

before anyone could ask who wants to partner up with them, your teacher swiftly announced that you would have to partner up with whoever was next to you.

in your case, that meant you had to partner up with the weird redhead who plays with a tiny skateboard. you slowly turned your head towards him, seeing how already had his eyes fixated on you.

you weren't the awkward type of person when it came to talking to new people but, he was just, odd.

"so uh, we should probably introduce ourselves..." you awkwardly said to the boy.

"oh! yea, my names reki" he said as he flashed you a toothy smile.

you furrowed your brows and had a confused look on your face, "i thought it was ricky?" you said.

he chuckled a little bit and said "nah, its reki, reki kyan."

"oh, well its nice to meet you. my names y/n l/n. but please just drop the formalities and call me y/n." you said with a light smile.

"oh hey! aren't you like the star player of the girls football team?"

"you mean soccer?" you raised a brow at him.

"oh yea well, i guess you could call it that too but, we say football." he thought for a moment, "wait, are you from america?!?!" he exlaimed.

"oh yea i am, how'd you know?" you were kind of surprised.

"well because you call it soccer not football." he chuckled.

you let out a tiny laugh as well, "anyway, enough about me, what about you?"

"what about me?" he asked, confused.

"like, what do you do for fun?"

"oh, i skateboard!!" he pointed to his backpack that had a skateboard attached to it.

"ooohh nice, are you like-" just as you were about to ask a your question, your teacher asked you and reki, "kyan, l/n, i'm not hearing a lot of talk about the project." she said strictly.

"sorry sensei." you guys both bowed your heads a little bit.

after that you and reki started discussing a bit about the project until the bell rang. as soon as you heard it you picked up your bag and stood up.

"bye reki" you said while walking away, eager to see your friends.

once you walked into the hallway, you immediately spotted fumiko walking. you ran to her and jumped on her.

"y/n!!" fumiko said as you moved off her back and rested your head on her shoulder while walking.

"dude, i missed you so much, first period was so boring."

"what about that red haired kid?" she questioned.

"oh him? his named reki, and we got partnered up for a project."

"woah, a project on the first day back?"

"i know!!" just then, you spotted chiyo and kenji walking side by side, along with some other tall, blue haired kid.

chiyo ran over to you and dapped you up, "yo, how was class?" she asked while going to the other side of fumiko and putting her arm over her shoulder.

"mid, i got partnered up with the skateboard kid for a project." chiyo laughed at that,

kenji and his friend then walked up to you guys. he said hi to you and fumiko then introduced his friend.

"guys, this is langa." langa greeted you guys and you and chiyo introduced yourselves. fumiko didn't though, her eyes were stuck on him. you then realized thats the guy chiyo mentioned to fumiko.

before the silence could be broken, you heard a voice yell, "bro!" you then saw reki going up to langa and doing a handshake.

"hey, this is the friend i was telling you about, kenji." langa pointed to him.

"oh, its nice to meet you, im reki" he grinned.

kenji just responded with a "yo" and put his hand up as if to wave.

"and who are these ladies?" he asked while turning towards the three of you, "oh hey y/n!" he smiled and waved.

"hi reki" you waved back.

"reki is that the girl you were talking about?" langa asked while pointing at you.

"you were talking about me?" you raised a brow at him.

"w-what no! i don't know what he's talking about." he stuttered.

"what do you mean you literally texted m-" before langa could finish his sentence, reki yelled "SHUT UP!" and pulled him away.

"what an odd boy" chiyo said.

"i don't know how langas friends with him." kenji added on.

"i dont know how langas so pretty." fumiko said, though she appeared to be in a daze.

chiyo shook fumikos shoulders, "see i knew you'd like him!!"

"to be honest i don't even know if he swings that way." kenji said as you guys started walking. but you 3 stopped dead in your tracks, "WHAT! HE'S GAY??" you all screamed.

"can you guys shut the fuck up?, i don't actually know but like, i've never heard him talk about a girl. and he doesn't even follow any, except like, his mom." kenji explained.

"damn." you said.

"no," chiyo added, "fumiko needs to date him. i will get to the bottom of this." she said with a determined look in her eyes.

"you're crazy." kenji said, while walking away and heading to his next class. the rest of you guys then did the same.
