You blink languidly, and all you see is light. When you fell asleep, that information evades your mind. All you see is light and whiteness, and you don’t know where you are, or what you’re supposed to do. You remember a long dream, fields of daffodils and dewy meadows, and a voice deep and haunting like a nightmare.
The Deity of Dreams has awoken.
It's the year 2524, and you're a defeated God/Goddess/Deity in a place and time where your kind is rarely needed anymore. After being locked away and thought to be dead for nearly a millennia, you wake up.
Features
Customize your God/Goddess/Deity of dreams.
Retrieve (or not) your now metaphorical throne, stolen by your killer, the God of War and Discord.
Explore and survive in a futuristic and very posthuman world. A world so much different from the one you were pried from.
Blend among mortals, pretend to be one of them— whether you embrace that side of you or not is up to you.
Get your power back after a thousand years of slumber.
Romance or befriend a cast of six characters.
Poly options: Dawn/Bruno, Eris/Dawn, A/Seth.
Characters
Dawn (she/her) • THE REBEL
A rebel and a hacker. Possibly the sole reason you’re awake today, too. She hates deities but seems desperate to get rid of the God of War, even if that involves working with you.
Bruno Lee (he/him) • THE HISTORIAN
Bruno may call himself a historian, a curious old soul in search of unveiling the secrets of the past. But given the fact that he's the only other being locked away with you, there must be more to him.
Vex (they/them) • THE CYBORG
Vex—who also goes by V—is a law enforcer who seems to be more metal than flesh. They represent the crude reality that time has moved on without you. Though V claims they're loyal to their God of War, they've been roped along to help their little sister Dawn.
Amara/Aiden/Asher Moonless (she/her he/him or they/them) • THE LOST ONE
Your memory fades and wavers but you remember A (how could you not). You know they're not the same person you were oh so close to so many centuries ago, but their similarities are eerily noticeable.
Estelle ‘Eris’ Lawrence (she/her) • THE CELEBRITY
Also known as The Voice, Eris is an actress, singer and model. She's every teenager’s daydream, the vivid representation of rags to riches. And, according to Dawn, a valuable ally to have by your side.
Seth (he/him) • THE GOD OF WAR
Your killer and enemy. You knew him once, or so you thought. All that your relationship with him got you was a sword through your chest.

"I can fix him" good for you. I need to craft a scenario in which he betters himself, to prove to myself that I can meaningfully atone despite how much of myself I see in him.

I feel like there’s needs to be, like, handbook for authors who post on Ao3 for effective metatext.
By metatext I mean like tagging, summary, and authors notes (especially initial authors notes at the beginning of a fic). The means by which we communicate to our readers what they’re getting into.
Because we kind of all have to learn it by osmosis and there are conventions but nobody’s really taught them at the start, so there’s inconsistencies and misunderstandings or people just not knowing things through no fault of their own.
This ends up breeding frustration and confusion and in the worst cases resentment, hurt, and aggression.
I’m severely tempted to make such a handbook and get it circulating.
I think it would do fandom a lot of good.

Sharing my fav IF cuz it's not talked about enough. Please check it out!!
For Whose Majestyu (formerly Long Live the Emperor) is an interactive-fiction set in a fictional world inspired by ancient China during the Warring States period and some folklore in other eras. You move through the narrative as an agent of the (fictitious) Heng Emperor, who is losing influence over the kingdom as three vassal lords gain power over the years. Would you serve the Emperor loyally and help him re-establish imperial control? Or would you help someone else take the throne, perhaps even for yourself?
💀 CONTENT WARNINGS (sfw, but for ages 18+) 💀
violence inflicted on people and animals, potential suicide(s), misgendering, bodily functions such as bleeding or vomiting, psychological trauma, mental illness, topic of sex or sexual situations (non-graphical in description) in later chapters... (See longer list in the opening screen.)
Genre: low fantasy wuxia
Check out the demo here
I have been following up with this IF for a few years now (since it was first uploaded). It is one of my favs among many others. If you enjoy wuxia novel/dramas/manhua such as Three Kingdoms etc, you'll surely love the story. Who would pass the chance to be a badass as General?
To show my appreciation, I hope to share this awesome work to our fellow IF-readers because it is really not talked out enough. The update is not regular but you can tell the author toally put effort in writing each chapter. There are already 13 chapters out, so grab your beverage and enjoy.
Ps: Sorry, i suck at writing, but pls check out this awesome demo.

flaws make characters more relatable and human. They create internal and external conflicts and provide opportunities for growth and development throughout your story.
Happy writing!

I posted screenshots of this voicemail before but I think people need to hear it (especially the noise he makes at the boss because "Meh!" does not do it justice).
The whiplash between the three parts still gets me. You can hear the shift from 707 to Luciel to Saeyoung, depending on who he's talking to

Genre(s): Urban Fantasy, Action, Mystery, Romance
[DEMO] | [DISCORD] | [RO APPEARANCES]
Skin and Scales is an urban fantasy interactive fiction story hosted in Twine where you choose how your story plays out. Live your life in the big, shining new city as a dragon-shifter and hunt down a secretive killer on the loose, get embroiled in the mobs and gangs vying for power, and fight for justice all while gaining allies and unraveling the secrets of your legacy all the while.
RATED 17+ for graphic depictions of violence, death, alcohol and drug use, explicit language, intense themes of prejudice and dehumanization, and similar mature content and themes
Moments after stepping foot in your new home, you’ve been arrested. And as a dragon-shifter, as the name implies, a human who can shape-shift at will into a one of the few dragon species still left in the world, the odds are naturally stacked against you in the city of Avalon, where your kind is kept under a scrutinizing eye by the King Institute. Left with the last of your options, you are made to partner up with one of the Institutes finest, a fellow dragon-shifter like you, and left with no other choice, you are left to pick up the clues following a sudden murder that has left the whole city shocked and a power vacuum to be filled.
Uncover the secrets of your kind, the underbelly of the city, and maybe, just maybe, meet some people that make this place home.
Variety of MC customization options including their name, gender (with cis and trans options), pronouns, appearance, and more!
Customize your dragon form and choose from one of 4 dragon species (ice, fire, lightning, or venom), your breath weapon (or lack thereof), and your alternate-forms’ appearance!
Explore complex relationships with 4 romanceable options, one poly option, a complicated hidden route, or romance no one and solidify your new found family!
Journey around a world where dragons have existed for centuries, and all of the complications this fact produce
Determine how you feel about your identity, and how it changes based on your experiences
Set yourself on fire. Many times.
Save the city and bring two split worlds back together
Or return to your roots and change the world forever…
Atlas Drake [he/him, 6’6”]
Working prodigy of the King Institute and your assigned partner, Atlas is one of the most professional and uptight people you have ever met. He is constantly making sure everything and everyone around him are working well within the guidelines presented to him. You, however, seem to be the biggest pain in his side since ‘ever’, and he is constantly ready to remind you of this fact. Maybe you can find a way to melt that frozen exterior of his. Just maybe you can surprise him as well.
Puck Bishop [they/them, 6’2”]
A well-respected scientist, Puck works alongside the King Institute with their studies, and is all the manner of a responsible and put-together person in their profession. More than that though, they are incredibly kind and patient, with a soft smile and wise words ready at any moment. Below this though, lies a more hesitant demeanor, haunted by spirits of the past. Can you remind them of what they have given up? Or settle for gratefulness?
Skye Cortéz [she/her, 5’3”]
Skye is both an enigma and an open book. An extraordinarily bubbly and positive person, she has a very loud personality, and is hard to miss. She considers you one of her closest friends the second she lays her eyes on you, and is loyal to a fault. But you can’t help but notice her uncharacteristic silence when home is brought up, and her naive excitement from the city becomes stranger and stranger once you realize she’s been living here her entire life. Is there anything you can do to tether her? Or will she endlessly drift until it swallows her whole?
Reese Zhu [he/him, 5’5”]
One of the prickliest people to walk the face of the planet, Reese has a bone to pick with everyone and everything. A fiery rebel until the end, he is constantly looking for a fight and considers you a target of his frustration the moment you two meet. However, there is a curb to his aggression, a quietness that he seems consumed in when he assumes you aren’t paying attention. Could you be the one to temper the flames? Or hold on as it consumes you both?
??? [she/her, ???]
She has spotted you. Do you think you can run? Do you think you can hide? Vile creature of the night, monster of the sky, you have no safe haven when this is done.
Come meet your maker, beast.

I AM LOOSING MY MIND! I NEED TO KNOW:
1. What was Lilith's personality like? Who was her human lover?
2. Is Solomon going to be the shady sorcerer that everyone says he is? It looks like he may play a huge role in this game. Also, how did he become immortal?
3. Will Diavolo finally give us lawful evil? Like REAL lawful evil?
4. Will we get a deeper look into Satan's birth and background?
5. What about the brothers and their positions in the Celestial Realm? Mammon was a throne, Lucifer a sephrim, Leviathan was some kind of general, and Beel a cherubim, but what about Asmodeus and Belphegor?
6. Are we going to see Micheal? Will "the father" make an appearance? The Demon King?
7. WILL WE FINALLY LEARN WHAT THE FUCK BARBATOS IS? Dude literally said he was never a child, so where did he come from? How did he get his powers? I need to know!
8. Diavolo's mother. I'm still stuck on the fandom theory that she was human.
9. Lucifer and Diavolo's relationship. Not in a shipper way, but I would like to know if the dynamic of their friendship was different in the past compared to how it is now. I always lowkey believed at one point. Lucifer might have resented Diavolo, but we'll see.
10. Simeon's involvement in the war.
11. Raphael being the true terrifying asshole that everyone keeps saying he is.
12. The Celestial Realm hierarchy in general.
I can feel my fanfic powers activating as we speak!

Writing Tips
Basic Plots
basic ≠ bad
many of these can & will overlap — that’s okay! it only adds more depth and tension to your story
stories should have: a main plot — the central idea, includes initial trigger and primary obstacles, subplots — branch from the main plot; less important but do affect the events of the story, and parallel plots — occur away from the reader’s view but affect the main plot

⤷ pursuit
⤑ one character chases the other (protagonist pursuing the antagonist or vise versa)
⤷ quest
⤑ protagonist searches for ~something~ which takes them on a journey of wonderment, temptation, and obstacles in order to accomplish their goal; this something can be anything, but it must be profound enough for them to take the risks
⤷ rags to riches
⤑ a generally insignificant person (often maltreated and dejected) undergoes amelioration to become extraordinary; usually through a hidden talent or secret of some sort
⤷ rebirth
⤑ the protagonist is a generally unlikable character who eventually redeems themselves through the course of the story
