yumichika and ikkaku are married and thats the tea

he leans against his steadfast partner, head lulling to rest upon ikkaku's shoulder. he's tired of this post, of this exhausting mission that's caused him to run on only a few hours of sleep. the mission's only saving grace, in yumichika's eyes, was the fact that he at least had ikkaku with him. it's that comforting thought that allows him to close his eyes for a moment of peace, knowing the other will let him continue to rest against him.

     IKKAKU DIDN’T MIND THE ALL NIGHTERS , he had grown accustomed to them over the years of service. He knows to focus his energy on the task at hand , yet OCCUPY his mind with different matters as a method to pass time. As to no surprise , he usually thinks about training , fighting —- how he can become STRONGER for the sake of his own sanity. That in turn fires him up and offers him the stamina needed to stay on guard. 

     TONIGHT WAS NO DIFFERENT , though as his mind began to wander , he was forced back into reality upon feeling a sudden weight on his shoulder. His head turns , catching a glimpse of his partner’s WORN DOWN features as he lay his head on him , tired and darkened eyes closed. 

     HE DOESN’T SAY A WORD AT FIRST and he doesn’t flinch as he’ll let him rest peacefully. Ikkaku knew well that Yumichika didn’t have the same energy —- he knew these all nighters and overall lack of sleep doesn’t do well with him. So he lets him rest his tired eyes , for he performs better after his so-called BEAUTY SLEEP.

     “ OI , YUMICHIKA. ” he speaks , voice soft. “ GET SOME SLEEP FOR NOW , it’s been a long night. I’ll stay awake and keep a look out so don’t worry and just rest. ”

     “ I DON’T NEED YOU NAGGING ME LATER about how little sleep you got so – ” he says so but only as  a guise to hide his worry , “ I’ll wake you when I need to crash too. ”

Ikkaku: Sometimes I’ll just wake up in the morning and… I’ll be looking at Yumichika in the early light while he’s asleep…

Ikkaku: …And I’ll drag this shoelace across his face and I’ll yell “YUMICHIMA WAKE UP THERE’S A BUG ON YOUR FACE!!!”

Ikkaku: He usually wakes up screaming.

  ��  “ oh , huh. ” and that’s all that comes out of his mouth because he may or may not have mistaken some of his clothes as sweat rags. but could anyone blame him ? it was dark by the time he finished his training and he had no idea yumichika was storing clothes where he kept his sweat rags.

     the two of them were inarguably different people with different styles , habits , and interests. but nonetheless , it worked. it always did between them since the day they had met. 

     “ let’s get some lamb skewers —- i’m fuckin’ starving !  ”     

“'oh, huh’ what?” eyes narrow suspiciously, immediately zoning in on the slightly guilty aura surrounding his partner.  “ikakku--”

he’s still suspicious, but he lets it go (for now) with another sigh at the suggestion of food.  it’s pointless--either ikkaku’s going to tell him eventually, or he’s taking it with him to his grave.  whichever comes first, really.

“i’m down for some lamb skewers--you’re paying, though. i’m kinda broke.”

he may or may not have spent his last check shopping with rangiku.  what can he say--yumichika loves shopping, as does rangiku, so it’s a friendship match made in heaven (if you ignore their bickering).

do you think that using scented shampoo would help mask the scent of blood that always clings to my clothes

"depends on whether or not you’re willing to spend a little extra cash--you can’t expect somethin’ cheap to do a top-dollar job, captain!”

his nose scrunches up, fighting the urge to lean back. oof, that’s a strong stench.

“--but yeah, it’s a start. i’d recommend anything with a strong, pleasant smell! also try some, uh, deodorant.”

     “ you’ve got enough clothes as it is. i’m surprised ya still have any closet space. ” there’s a pause. “ we can go train , eat , or both. ”

“it’s why i also use yours--not like you’re putting it to good use.”

at the mention of training (and food) he suddenly perks up, his previous pout vanishing.  there were few things yumichika considered aesthetically pleasing, and even fewer people.  ikkaku, however, was an exception.  especially in fight mode, regardless of it being sparring or on the actual battlefield.  he’s always loved the fight in his spirit and how they always managed to work so perfectly in sync.

not like he’d ever tell him that, though, least his head gets any bigger.  yumichika can only deal with so much of his ego.

“hmm--both sounds good. i’m hungry, though, let’s eat first.”
