The Tim Hortons rewards are so fucking bogus. You get 10 points per dollar. An iced Capp (The only form of coffee I drink) is 800 points. I need to spend $80 to get a $3 drink.

Meanwhile, the McDonald’s points are 100 points per dollar. 4000 points gets you any size fry. I can spend half the money and get a reward that is the same monetary value.

Make it make sense.

Shout out to my former work supervisors “McFly” and “Harrison” for believing in me! You two seem to be the only people who actually believed in my abilities 100%, unlike my supposed friend turned supervisor who gave me the harshest performance review I’ve had since my first year at the job. Frankly, “Sandy” ummm fuck you. Your “tough love” of whatever the fuck has cost me a promotion. A promotion McFly and Harrison thought I should have gotten 3 years ago when they left the job and their opinions no longer mattered apparently. I was ok with it when you got it first Sandy, because I was away at school for the first 2 1/2 months of the work season. It only made sense. And I was ok with it again last year when “Katie” got it instead of me for the same reason. But I wasn’t away for school this year. I was here. I worked all winter. I volunteered for the extra events. I will still be here all peak season. And who is getting promoted instead? “Connor”. Connor, who I trained from his first fucking day here. And why? Because you gave me a shitty fucking review. You know who didn’t do that? “Anthony”. Anthony gave his part of my review and it was all flying colours. But his part was much smaller so it didn’t matter. So yeah, thank you McFly and Harrison for actually believing in me. Thank you for not pretending to be my friends. Thank you for all the times you took me aside and told me how to do better. And fuck you Sandy for just joking around about the things you thought I was doing wrong. Fuck you for not just telling me with your goddamned words what you thought I was doing wrong. Fuck you for pretending to be my friend when you were actually not helping me at all. Good fucking riddance to you.

I just needed to get that out.

Tdlr: My friend turned supervisor gave me a bad performance review as a show of “tough love” and it cost me a promotion I was recommended for 3 years ago by the former assistant manager.

These are very interesting results. Thank you to those who voted. For the 34.6% of you who don’t know, sushi pizza is an abomination that is only available in Canada as far as I am aware. It is essentially sushi in the shape of pizza. So, it has a seaweed “crust”, the rice on top of that, then whatever toppings it may be, fish, veggies, sauces… it is truly a crime to call it pizza and a crime to make sushi in that manner.

Why are hostels so expensive in London??? I’m planning on visiting friends in Europe and I would fly into London to get there so I figured hey maybe I could stay a couple days there. But I can’t find any that are less than like 120$ a night. When at a hostel in Florence my friend and I only paid like 40€ each. London why are you like this??? Both of these are the same time of year too so it’s not even a peak season vs shoulder season thing.

I miss one of my old coworkers because he was so easy to mess with. Like, insanely easy to mess with. Like, we were both taking photos for an event but he was on duty and I was just there on my day off. I tried to go in the back where everyone else went and a security guard tried to stop me and yelled “purple cat!” I still got in cuz all my coworkers were there to vouch for me. Anyway, later I was like “I wonder why he yelled purple cat; must be some kind of code…” and my coworker, let’s call him Brendan, gasped and was sputtering until he actually turned to look at me and realized I was being facetious. Good times.

I know lots of people have said the work environment thing, I too call all my coworkers by their last name due to the nature of our job but I have another example to use.

In junior high we had multiple guys named Ryan. To differentiate one Ryan told us to use his surname instead. For the sake of this post let’s say his surname was Miller. Everyone called him Miller. That was his identity after a while. It got to the point where if someone called him Ryan people would either be confused or would cringe because it sounded wrong. When you get into the habit of calling someone by something it often feels wrong to call them anything else. I have always known Miller as Miller, calling him Ryan feels wrong.

In the case of House they all would have started by calling each other Dr. (Surname) as a sign of respect for their colleagues and their achievements. The dropping of Dr. is them being casual. First names almost start to feel like forbidden knowledge at best and no longer part of that person’s identity at worst.

TLDR: it’s about personal identity and how you’re introduced to someone.

what is the deal with everyone being on a last-name basis in House, anyway. house and wilson only ever call each other house and wilson. chase and cameron probably don't call each other chase and cameron but they always use last names when talking about each other to anyone else. when house's ex girlfriend shows up she's "stacy" and he's "greg" but she's like the only exception. oh wait also amber, amber is also always amber I think. well, after she graduates from "cutthroat bitch". which is weird while she's in the team but makes sense while she's wilson's girlfriend. also thirteen is neither on a first name basis or a last name basis with anyone but she's special. cuddy does call her by last name and foreman calls her by her first name I think once.
