Dear video essay creators. A video analysis is when you analyze a piece of media. No no look at me. A summary, no matter how thorough, is not an analysis. An analysis requires you to draw conclusions about the media such as authorial intent, real-world parallels, discussion about themes/worldbuilding/character motivation, and so much more. You have to stop summarizing something and saying that’s analysis. The Gaylors are doing more critical analysis than you. Is that who you want to lose to? The gaylors?

I've recently went from having a near 200 day streak on Duolingo to immersion learning, and I feel like I understand the language much better now. My recommendations are under the cut:

I've been watching this guy named Trenton on youtube, who talks about learning Japanese via immersion. I recommend checking out his channel for tips on great resources on how to learn. [Link] You don't have to just take it from me. The beginners in his comments say that they're seeing improvement, and commenters that have learned other languages say that these tips are spot on.

Some videos that I recommend: Learning Japanese Isn't Actually That Hard - He outlines the concepts of learning with immersion, using Anki as a tool to help you learn new words You can learn Japanese by just listening - Here, he goes more in-depth on immersion via listening (especially for people just starting.) There's also some podcast recommendations.

You Should Be Using Anki - This one is about Anki- It helps you learn and memorize flashcards using a spaced repetition system. He gives recommendations for decks to use and how to use the program as a tool in conjunction with immersion.

I've also been looking at this site called "TheMoeWay" about immersion and more learning resources. They cover a lot of the same things that Trenton talked about but have a more in-depth starter guide and recommendations for media to help you learn.
