"hey - you wanna be my date t'night?" she's smiling something wicked, "gotta go to some bullshit carpet - we can wear matching t-shirts."

definitely more logical. not that he isn't quite emotional but in that he tries to rationalize them more than just feel/experience them

quiet for the most part - unless he's complaining or talking shit about something/someone, then he'll talk a bunch. definitely more "shy" though i wouldn't call it that... more avoidant than anything else.

maybe it's what he gets for agreeing to plans without time to give the decision a second thought. he'd regretted it from the moment he said yes, regret it more when he stepped inside, and didn't think he could regret it more until now. when he looks up and sees mistletoe and almost promptly feels his stomach bottom out. "no," he says, angling his head backwards to stare, like if he wills hard enough he can set the stupid thing on fire. "i thought it was my horrible expression that was keeping people away; maybe it was this."

"an ex. typical, huh?" he wriggles his leg and then winces at the pain. "please tell me y'all aren't gonna put me in a cast."

"oh." safe to say, penelope feels dumb, but not dumb enough it ruffles her feathers. rather, dumb enough she grins sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck. "here i was thinking musicians liked writing about themselves. no deep, dark secrets to make metaphors out of then?" swaying absently along to the melody of his song, she still follows the lyrics, still tries to paint a picture with them to better understand amari. he laughs because it's inherent, a little nervous thing while he tries to push past the initial wall of explaining himself. "my publicist's kinda pissed at me." but he does appreciate the immediate comfort -- her hands are warm, he feels a little grounded in the way that she's holding onto his fingers.

"nah, not a nude -- that was last month." (he wishes he were joking.) he eyes the cigarette in her mouth. "lemme bum one of those and i'll tell you the whole thing."

"how  bad?"  instantly,  her  hands  are  on  either  side  of  his  face,  palpating  for  any  signs  of  distress  -  moving  down  his  neck  and  over  his  chest  before  tugging  his  hands  into  her  own,  eyes  scanning  skin  in  a  way  probably  more  suited  to  her  own  shortcomings.

only  when  she's  half-satisfied  does  she  look  back  up  to  him,  allowing  herself  to  anchor  her  fingers  to  his  by  hooking  them  together.  eliza's  cigarette  hangs  between  her  lips  as  she  murmurs,  "baby,  tell  me.  you  can  tell  me,"  she  exhales  once,  "although,  if  this's  all  over  you  accidentally  postin'  a  nudie,  i'm  gona  smack  you."

"s'like, what, spidey sense? mario sense?" at that, he takes a half step away from her, should she make good on her threats. "oh, you'd give me a run for my money, i'm sure." his eyes angle downwards, into the pot. "almost done, hm?"
