Did you know dat there's species down there SPECIFICALLY EVOLVED to eat sunken wood, like bivalves? A wood fall doesn't sustain a little habitat as long as, say, a whale fall does, but a sunken log can be a little oasis of life down there! They're also helpful spots for bacteria traveling between spots like cold seeps or hydrothemal vents, like a little rest stop on a road trip!

Deep sea anon again, an FULLY baby dis time, I'm havin fun sharin fun deep sea facts I know wif someone :3 did you know there's crabs dat do farmin? Yeti crabs dat live on deep sea vents got all kinds of "hair" all over them dat grows bacteria dat they eat! They're down there farmin! :3

Hi hi hi anon with the deep sea suckee again, I just wanted to share a fun deep sea fish fact I just learned, did you know that tripod fish can't see, and get their food by feeling? They're not BLIND, but they don't have any special features to see in the dark of the deep sea, so they use their front fins to feel when food swims by, and uses them like hands to knock it in their mouth!

Also they're all both boys and girls, like snails! I think that's extra neat, cool gender deep sea fish :3

they were kinda genetically nerfed cause what the freak 🙁🙁goblin sharks are kinda the same way! they have eyes but since it’s super dark they use receptors in their snouts to sense electric fields :P

Hiiiiiii this was me I just can't send anons from a side blog that I know of, here they are!

All the blue spots glow in the dark (like LOTS of deep sea fishies, but also some regular dots for bubbles), and I did the same for the case I made out of a denture case, but with mostly clear glow in the dark paint. And it's got an anglerfish on it, my most FAVORITEST fishy!

Hihihi I'm new here and I love your blog! I'm a big fan of ocean stuff, too, especially deep sea stuff (I even painted a deep sea pacifier and matchin case all by myself :3)
