🧶 Cow hitch increase
Unlike all other single-stitch increases I know, this one is perfectly symmetrical. I’ve been seeing it a lot in my feed lately, so I thought I’d share it. Haven’t tried it yet in a project though.
It mimics the structure of a cow hitch knot - hence the name.

I really need to get a knitting belt, like 3 of my old pajama t shirts have holes in the same spot because I brace my dpns against myself while I knit, I've landed somewhere between continental and lever knitting and it's so ingrained in my muscle memory I can't really change it without going at a snail's pace
#do it!!!#i got myself one when my wrists were bad#and i didn't change over fully#but being able to completely let go with my R hand and just do yarn control while the L spears stitches onto the needle is so satisfying#worth trying for sure!#if cost is a thing im curious about tucking something string like a leather thimble just into your belt#or i do into a twist of my shirt or pocket depending what i need#best of luck!

spent the last few days playing w my new blending board :) it's a steep learning curve because of course, being me, I don't believe in reading up on anything or making plans I just do whatever and hope it works out

well, I'm getting there
my plan is to turn this

into a 3-ply with long colour shifts (handdyed Falkland/Chubut merino and undyed BFL)

After the first skein turned out extremely muddied I realized that no, it actually is important to weigh the fibre and get the same (or at least, about same) amount on every bobbin.

The second was better, but still not good. Because, amazingly, the individual rolags need to be about the same weight & to make sure that happens it's helpful to weigh them after pulling them off the board so you get a feeling for how to make them equal.
(I told you I am not a planner)
The third skein doesn't look bad at all! not quite what I want yet, but good enough.

It's fine though, for the project I have in mind, uniformity isn't that important and I am having a lot of fun with this
("Why don't you just chain-ply, wouldn't that be easier?" Because I don't like doing it and I don't like chain-plied yarn very much, leave me alone)

in Maine sheep are released on offshore Islands in spring to graze for summer. With no natural predators on these islands sheep thrive. To be corralled up and brought back to the mainland in early fall.

I ordered some yarn for a weaving project (I don't have enough hand spun)
And I could not refuse some very delicious neon roving 5x 20g (yellow, orange, pink, blue, green)

I see some fractal spinning in my Future!!
