Doesn’t a megastar like Michael Jackson sometimes want to just get away from it all?, for a few hours? Just stroll around nibbling popcorn from a bag under his arm? Sure he does – and when he happens to be in Phantasialand, the amusement park near Brühl (Cologne) he is one of their most uncomplicated visitors. Since the day when he first met the owner by chance in a hotel, he has come there three times again to ride on ‘his’ roller coaster – after all that attraction is named “The Michael Jackson Thrill Ride“. He overstayed his last visit there last year by almost three hours, trying out all the rides and, in between them, eating some French fries. Upon departing, a bit tired out, as he climbed into his van, he expressed his gratitude to the Phantasialand team with his charming smile and the words, ”Thank you very much for everything – see you next year.“ - Mystery Magazine, No. 2, June/July 1997
