Kin, Lost & Found

Inspired by @nurgletwh’s fanfic series Ghosts That We Knew on AO3! I wanted to create a portrait of Lost Kin in a style that looks like Ghost might have drawn them in their journal.

Why is using he/him for the vessels so bad?

William: Early on we did. Because that was like way before the character really even…we kinda knew what the character is-

Ari: I think we still accidentally say it as like a habit thing. But that is not accurate.

William: Canonically, yes (they are genderless).

Q: A lot of non-binary people see the Knight as agender and feel empowered by the game. Was it your intention for them to be genderless? Do you support this head canon?

A: Absolutely we support this! And it’s fantastic that players could feel empowered in such a way. Maybe a spoiler, but HK does (almost explicitly) confirm its protagonist is genderless.

Because they are explicitly genderless and don’t take he/him pronouns.

Team Cherry also talks about the struggle of localisation in another interview, because they had to work around languages that didn’t have the capability to convey a gender neutral pronoun/gender neutral terms, and they apparently also checked the game to remove titles that would imply gender (like changing ‘prince’ to ‘wanderer’ for bretta referring to the Knight, because ‘prince’ traditionally implies masculinity.)

Stray idea that keeps rotating idly in my mind like "what if instead of returning to the abyss, THK's shade simply lingered around?"

I decided to go back and update Fungal Wastes a little bit to try and match the style I have now developed for the project.

Changes include: -More mushrooms and other small details -Overhaul of the rocks colors and shading -Characters gained some updates to shading, color and lineart -Added blur affect -Nicer looking black border I realize only now that there… aren’t really many rocks in fungal wastes. Surprise surprise its all mushrooms- I should have made it like 90% mushrooms but I’d honestly say its too late. Honestly have mixed feelings about this pic but oh well. If you want to see the old version, it’s still here on tumblr Fog Canyon is being updated too but the changes are- thankfully, mostly just lineart and polish.

Idea: An Angry Knight mod, where nothing changes except the knight’s sprite has hastily drawn angry eyebrows on its mask and its nail is now a dry-erase marker or a paintbrush, I can’t decide which.

some concept art of nightmare’s heart that I had posted on my twitter jsjs Why did I make him a shapeshifter? pfff why not? I mean it’s a creature of nightmares right? It’s scarier that I never have a definite shape. Btw, the jester appearance is basically a formal form that I have implemented him to interact, but only in the dream plane. His physical form is very small because he spends a lot of energy maintaining the Troupe, if he manages to get out to the physical plane he will only be a passive watcher.
