Part 2: Electric Boogaloo of my Loading Screen post for the Loading Screens/Banners I made for our upcoming VtM Chronicle set in 2023 Los Angeles. Featuring my PC turned Storyteller NPC for Act 2. Also my favourite character so far. I love this even though I doubt he loves me back very much.

Second Act features my Toreador, Malachite Goseyun or just Mal for short. An actor of Mescelaro Apache descent from the late 2000's who was unfortunately embraced against his will at the hands of a particularly predatory producer following a false film prospect in London that led to his embrace in 2011. Now works as a negotiator/courier who travels around America and Europe now that his sire has been thoroughly dead since 2012 but Mal was sort of just, left to pick up the pieces of his trauma that he sustained from his sire and ultimately, an unlife he never wanted. At least when he isn't passing his time playing Performance Artist or Youtube Film Analyst to make something out of his immortality at least.

He's fully independent and takes pride in being an unbound bastard but flip flops most commonly between the Camarilla and the Anarchs depending on the region and who is the most tolerable to deal with. Or simply, who is the most lenient with letting him function as a unbound bastard just trying to do his job and figure out his existence in peace, thank you very much. Though nowadays affiliates himself with the Anarchs of Los Angeles as he found himself a bit of a community among them. In addition to some companionship among the Barony. Who, like himself, still have a very firm grasp of their humanity.

I frankly can't get all that much into his story beyond that though because I do intend on focusing on him as a protagonist outside of Chronicles and such down the line. So you'll see him around a lot.

Decided to pull in some of his more modern sensibilities and personal aesthetics such as through his notebooks and jewelry, not to mention the can of Monster he always keeps by his desk because even as a Kindred, he can't help but indulge himself on that kind of shite. But also play into him being a sentimental fool to a very good degree. He still keeps photographs of his time as an actor, including modelling jobs he did in between gigs just to get an income in and keep himself afloat. As well as family photographs, including of his grandparents and their AIM days, his mom in her youth and the father he never met because he walked out on him before he was even bornreminder of, what his father even really looked like. He still has the Tiffany Revolvers his old Nos Friend stole from the Armoury Museum as a gift for him, despite the fact that their friendship did. Not, have the best of ends. He's even got names for them. Silverheel and Sampson. In homage to Jay Silverheels and Will Sampson respectively. As for the bloodied files at the center of it all. The job he does generally is dangerous, so it's no surprise that some of the files and contraband he'd carry back and forth ends up covered in blood, be it his own or others.

Something fascinating to me about Human Ghouls that doesn't get explored as much as it should is how certain discipline powers are dependent on their user's whole Being A Vampire thing, and thus wind up looking very different when given to humans.

Take Obfuscate for instance: Cloak of Shadows requires its user to remain entirely still and make no sound to remain invisible. For Kindred, this is a fairly rudimentary procedure requiring no great effort, but humans have this unfortunate ailment where they need to breathe oxygen to live. Whether it's the rising and falling of their chest or the minuscule noise that taking even the tiniest breath requires, either would counteract the power's effect RAW. It's still useful, but the limitations of mortality are made apparent to its users, and I can't imagine a panicked Ghoul holding their breath as a Hunter Cell investigates their dwelling isn't considering this weakness.

Another example: Congratulations kid, you've joined the Vampire Revolution! As a wee bonus for your loyalty, you've gained the awesome power to break human bones and tear skin with the flick of your wrist. The problem is that Vamps have bodies that can shrug off 9mm like it's nothing, while you're barely more durable than when you started. So yeah, you can punch hard, but normal punches are already more likely to break a bone in your hand than one in that guy's face; what do you think hits strong enough to destroy limbs will do to your body? And your life is sure to be anything but peaceful, now that you've joined in on the secret world. How long before your legs crunch under the force you use to pound the ground? How long before your hand shatters with the face of the poor bastard who picked a fight with you? How long before your strength breaks you beyond repair?

I'm sure there are other examples of this kind of incompatibility (Soaring Leap immediately comes to mind), especially with higher-level powers that no one but Kindred would ever have access to. What I'd like to suggest here, however, is to consider the effects of even the most minor powers on still-mortal characters! They aren't quite human anymore, but they aren't Kindred either, and leaning into those differences is (imo) neato.

have been barely posting BUT!!!!!! That's because i've recently started my first VTM campaing!!!!!!
