My name's Cade Halliwell. I've got a dysfunctional family, like everyone else. Dad taught me to fight, Mom taught me morals...sort of. I'd like to think I'm a pretty regular guy, but I know how to get the ladies' attention. FC: Jake Abel NOTE: This is a sideblog, so just be aware of that, thanks!

“It’s different every day. Different people. Different clouds. I’ve lived here almost all my life. I haven't been bored yet.” Erika smiled wider. “Good conversations help keep things interesting, too. I don’t know about whether it’s paradise, but I like it.”
“So...is there any possibility you might--well--are you--” He stammered on his words, unable to be so forward with someone he just met.  “If you’re free, would you like to show me around, I mean?  I’ll buy you dinner--just show me the best places.  Not the touristy ones.”

She’d forgotten what kind they were. Her father had gifted them to her for her birthday. She grinned at the stranger. He asked how he looked. “Like a million bucks.” She snapped a couple of pictures then turned the camera around for his inspection. “Up to your standards or should I try again?”
He flipped through the camera once she handed it back to him.  “Well, I dunno...the lighting kinda looks dark and--” he grinned.  “I’m just messing with you.”  Cade handed the sunglasses back to her.  “Here you go, one pair of sunglasses for a couple of beach photos.  As promised.  So...do I get a name?” he asked, implying that they hadn’t formally introduced each other at all.

“It is a pretty sweet camera,” said Erika. “Hm.” She plucked her sunglasses off and offered them to him.“These are worth a couple hundred bucks. Won’t buy you a camera, but it’s a start?” She studied him. “And you’re wearing better shoes than I am. So if I do make a run for it in these slippers…. You’ll be able to catch me.”
He gently took the glasses and handed her his camera, examining the label out of curiosity.  “Huh.  Ray-Ban.  Nice,” he said in appreciation, putting them on for fun.  “How do I look?” he asked, posing against the backdrop of the ocean.

He’d been very out of it. She wasn’t sure if he was incredibly focused or unfocused.“Picture? So you can prove to your friends you were here?” She mimed a camera and shooting pictures. “That’s what most people want to do.Could get you with the view or the trees?"
“Oh.  Yeah, sure,” he started.  “The view, I guess.”  The girl in front of himwas cute, once he actually looked at her.  “Wait…you’re not just gonna jack my camera and run off, are you?”  Cade gave her a smile.  He was joking, sort of, but still he could be fresh meat on the island for all he knew.

Tourists were funny. They thought Hawaii was a paradise. To Erika, it was home, but it was far from perfect. Watching them, though, it kept her from taking all this for granted. Photographers usually had a good eye. And they appreciated beauty. “Do you want a get a shot with you in it?”
Orange sunlight dappled the ground during late afternoon, peeking through the shadows of trees.  At least the weather wasn’t unbearably hot.  Good enough, he thought, as he stared at the scenery of the water before him.  Funny thing about this part of Hawaii: the entire town rested on or near its shoreline.  He probably looked dazed when he heard a voice speaking to him, camera resting in his hands as he stood still.  It did catch him off guard, though, when he finally snapped out of it.  “Sorry, what was that?”

His flight had touched base hours ago, and after taking a shuttle to the hotel to recuperate (sleep), Cade finally ventured out into the paradise that was Hawaii.  The summer season couldn’t have arrived faster.  In town, he walked...everywhere, and photographed nearly everything he found interesting.  Yes, he was a complete tourist, but what else was there to do on one’s first day in Hawaii?

I'll see you on Skype tonight, then?
Kinda missing my girlfriend. I know her birthday was last month, and I didn't get to visit her, but at least I did for Valentine's Day. That's a good thing, right?

O Romeo, Romeo. Wherefore art thou Romeo?
Of course “wherefore” way back then actually meant “Why.”

He had already pivoted on his heel to turn and leave, but the girl had caught his attention.  "You sure?  Better make up your mind because I don't normally talk to wallflowers."  Cade was trying to be nice, but in the span of a few seconds he had been easily irritated.  "Do I at least get a name?" he asked, realizing that they never actually exchanged introductions in the first place.  He rubbed his jaw with his hand as he watched the girl.

Marie flushed at his words, dropping her gaze to the floor. She regretted her words, her tone, everything she had done in the past two or three minutes. She hated how removed she was from everyone at the school, hated herself for not making more of an effort. Her repressed anger and hurt had burst out in a flurry of words that she couldn’t control, and now the boy’s impression of her was probably ruined. “N-no, don’t go. Or, do go, but I’m going to come with you.”

She snapped at him!  The nerve!  And here, he was only trying to help.  "Whoa, cool it.  I don't know who spit in your breakfast today, but I was just lending a hand!"  If this girl wanted to stick herself in the shadows of a large castle of a school, that was damn well fine by him!  He wasn't her babysitter.  "Guess it's best if I just leave then, huh?"

"I don’t eat much," she said, blushing faintly. Marie felt so pathetic, now, with this boy questioning her routine. He was right, though. Eating protein bars and hiding out in hallways wasn’t a sustainable way to go through life at the school. Still, hearing it out loud made her angry. “You don’t think I know that? It’s true that I don’t like people, but it’s not like I don’t try to involve myself with things. It’s not my fault that I suck at inserting myself into established groups,” she snapped, her tone sharp. She covered her face with her hands after she finished speaking and took a deep breath before looking up at the boy again. “I’m sorry,” she said, her voice quiet. “I didn’t mean to snap. It’s just a bit frustrating when someone points out your biggest faults like you don’t already know them.”
