Imagine Sokka being a lecturer doing his classes over zoom and toddler Izumi comes in his room, interrupting his class

Cue a panicked Zuko running in 10 minutes later, trying to find her

lmfao yesssss izumi toddles over to sokka who, without missing a beat in his lecture point, picks her up and puts her on his lap. when he ends his points, he says 'this is our baby' and then dives right into the next ppt slide. izumi is staring at the screen with that toddler intensity as she wordlessly smacks sokka's chin repeatedly with her hand

zuko tries to stealthily come in 10 mins later (he misjudges the camera's width and everyone sees him) and when he grabs izumi from sokka, sokka says "blah blah physics, and this is my baby daddy, so then when the variable increases, blah blah physics"

student message boards blow up for the days afterward abt the hot gay physics professor ALSO being a cool gay dad

i’m running a little late but wanted to make a zukka Valentine’s Day contribution :)

I have a friend who used to frequently state that in academia the fights are so vicious because the stakes are so low, and I think a vicious yet low-stakes conflict would suit Zuko well. As such, I have an Academic Zukka AU for your consideration:

Zuko, a workaholic fire ecologist studying the effects of fire suppression in California. He's going to need to travel into some hard-to-navigate territory and when he registers his plans at the ranger station, people give each other looks.

Sokka, a park ranger who was planning to ride out that way anyway to check on [something, might even be fake], offers to accompany Zuko for safety. This is now Zuko winds up trapped and annoyed that his peace and quiet has been disturbed.

From Zuko's perspective, it's an enemies-to-lovers situation, but Sokka's experiencing more of a friendly-acquaintances-to-lovers arc as he cheerfully plows through Zuko's gloom.
