This is Douglas. He’s the only cat we adopted as an adult. His face is a bit lopsided but he has the most beautiful light green eyes — like very light prasiolite staring back at you. We celebrated our dear Pigpen’s birthday (actually his “found day) last November 22. He is the first of our rescue cats and our eldest now at 11 years old (human count). He’s my best friend and my constant. He doesn’t really like much by way of cat food. He only likes kibble served al fresco. So for his birthday, after Ronaldo’s party fail, we decided on pansit and colorful puto for the humans. It started with a picture on a friend’s account. I loved the sheets in the background and asked where to get them. Days later I was forwarded an account that sold the same pattern and more! I immediately ordered two sets and got an extra pillow case for my “bed chair.” (It’s a child’s Japanese seat that I use as a backrest for reading.) Boo helped me put my new sheets on. Remembering Circle: A series of photos from 2014. I found him in crouched the middle of the road on Visayas Ave. driving towards QMC. I parked the car hurriedly and ran back, afraid that he might have already been run over. I had to take him to the office first. (Snuck him in my backpack.) Fed and played him everyday after work until he was big enough and the older cats had adjusted to his presence. Circle disappeared one day in 2015. I never knew what happened. It’s increasingly sad that loss, particularly death, reminds us of the things we once loved so much. (Including waistlines.) I found this cute mini dandelion-like weed on the sidewalk outside a friend’s house. It thrived outside for a while but almost died due to heavy rains. On breaks I take a walk around the house all the way back to the lot behind my aunt’s. Because it’s been raining, moss has been growing everywhere. I was surprised to see different kinds growing in around soI took some and replanted them in this orphaned cup.
