...what is the "sex is just rock climbing" category
It was kind of a joke between me and a friend ("you wouldn't judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people") but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:
It is a physical activity done with one or more partners
You should only go rock climbing with people you trust to not let you fall
You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making
Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it's fine dude I'm glad you're happy but I don't know what most of those mountains even are
While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don't want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma
There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone "it's not that heights make you nauseous, it's just that you haven't found the right person to belay you!" or "you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special." That would be absurd.
For some people it is a deep and moving personal experience.
historically I have not asked myself "will this aggravate my hip flexor injury" before participating when perhaps I should have 😔

i mean this with the fullest offense but if you post a screenshot (whether it is tiktok, twitter or whatever) and you crop out the username - i hope you shit your pants today. doesn't matter if its one sentence or one little joke, someone made that and you just blatantly stole it. stop erasing people from their creations.

Someone was asking in a thread what kind of people could work for ICE right now.
I think it's a good time to remember that the image above are the people who put children into gas chambers.
When I was little, I asked what kind of person could work at a concentration camp.
The answer to both questions I think is "normal people who have accepted the dehumanization of another group of people."
#sometimes i try to think of like#what to do if i were asked to facilitate the shit happening right now at my job#realistically I dont work in a position that would have much if any impact#but like#im currently sitting in a nail salon getting a pedicure for my best friend's wedding#and yeah. the woman next to me could be someone like that ICE agent. maybe she got those french tips for her friend's wedding#the monsters are people just like us. and we all have the capacity to become monsters

#ive also seen post about like#asking a kid 'why do you think its just for girls/boys?' as a method of like#critical thinking also#why? because billy said only boys like trucks? but ive seen women drive trucks do you think maybe Billy hasnt seen that?#100% we should encourage gravitation towards what they like and reinforce kids abilities to enjoywhat they enjoy#but i think encouraging critical thinking also helps prepare them for when they go out on thier own#i know being the kid who asks 'why? ok but why?' is considered annoying#but i think its important and helpful actually

somewhere out there right now is a kid with curly hair being raised by people who have wavy hair at best and those people are giving them 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and telling them to dry brush it. and that kid is gonna spend all of middle school and high school hating their hair and moping over the flat iron. they're being told right now that if they don't dry-brush their curl pattern into oblivion every morning it means they're unkempt and gross even though they naturally have the kind of ringlets that a thousand bridezillas would commit horrible murders for every june. it's happening right now it's an absolute epidemic and a tragedy every time
#the day my little sister found the glory of coconut oil and whatever other magic keeps her curls like that#that day changed her life#her hair is so gorgeous#and my moms hair is so frizzy and so beyond damaged from a lifetime of being treated like my grandma's straight hair#rip my moms curls but that you mom for following a coworkers advice to go to a black owned hair salon
