That and dead mothers
(hella spoilers ahead) Gaku and Wagatsuma have to bond over their daddy issues one day. Like cmon. Gaku doesn't even actually think of it too often, since he mostly thinks of Harumi as.. I guess not really his dad? he's aware that's his dad, but that's not the stoic man he knows, that's his friend who's as old as him. Wagatsuma took a bit before the actual realization sunk in, he said so himself. He didn't start his friendship with Kanamori with the actual thought of 'that's my dad'. He knew he was, but that sunk in years later. And god knows Wagatsuma got those daddy issues (how could he not with this kind of dad). Now, I just want those two to talk about their own experience with time traveling, having an absent dad OR a dad not talking about anything related to himself much and keeping on scolding you for doing you, and being friend with that younger version of their dad

I still don't believe that a movie made by a French director who said it's not necessary to learn about the Mexican culture because he knows "enough already" (he's not fluent nor in English or Spanish) actually won over a movie about a true story in Brazil's military dictatorship. A movie that really had the guts to show the violence, lack of humanity and insanity of that period

I know Tarre Viszla was an actual Jedi who happened to be born on Mandalore, but if there IS a true successor to him, it isn’t Grogu. It’s not Din. It’s not Bo-Katan.
It’s Sabine.
The Mandalorian who learns how to act like a Jedi.
The Mandalorian who loves her people, but takes what she’s learned from Kanan and Hera and connects it to her heritage to help her people progress.
The Mandalorian who picks up that Dark Saber and doesn’t just wield it physically, she EARNS it.
Because Jedi get lightsabers only AFTER they’ve earned their kyber crystals. They don’t just get handed a lightsaber because they beat someone else in combat. Kyber crystals put you through tests in order to earn them, they’re semi-sentient. And the same should hold true for the Dark Saber. It’s just a normal kyber crystal, it’s going to act similarly.
And while there obviously IS a physical aspect to it that appears to have sort-of been imbued in it over the generations it’s been with the Mandalorians, it still has the spiritual and emotional aspect from it being a JEDI’S lightsaber first. And Tarre Viszla would’ve had to go through the same spiritual and emotional trial before earning his kyber crystal as any other Jedi.
Pretty much every other person we see wielding it only passes on of those tests, the physical. They beat someone in combat and get to wield the Dark Saber. But to truly make it YOURS, you have to pass BOTH.
Sabine actually passes the spiritual one first. Because she doesn’t win the saber in combat, she just picks it up from Maul’s lair and takes it. But as she trains with it, she has to listen to Kanan and she has to go through a trial that feels VERY familiar. The last time we saw something similar happen, it was when Ezra was learning to connect to animals and he couldn’t do it until he admitted to his fears. Sabine can’t truly wield the Dark Saber until she admits to her own, to her fears and insecurities regarding her past with the Empire and her family. And once she does, she’s earned the kyber crystal. She can wield the blade by the Jedi half of the test.
But it’s not until she gets to Mandalore and actually faces her family and fights Gar Saxon for it that she passes the Mandalorian half of the test, the physical. And even then, once she does, she chooses mercy and refuses to kill Gar Saxon when given the chance.
She chooses mercy because Kanan taught her to be merciful, because she’s incorporating Jedi values into Mandalorian traditions.
Tarre Viszla was born Mandalorian and raised as a Jedi. Sabine Wren was born a Mandalorian and raised by a Jedi. She may not be Force sensitive, but her connection and relationship with Kanan means she is the ONLY PERSON that we have seen since Tarre Viszla to have actually earned the Dark Saber’s kyber crystal the Jedi way and wielded it the Jedi way, with mercy and in the interest of the greater good rather than personal gain.
No matter who Sabine chooses to hand that blade off to, no matter who ends up ruling Mandalore through it, Sabine Wren is its truest owner and the true successor to Tarre Viszla.

Shauna and the baby were probably both going to die. depending on your interpretation of the dream realm, maybe for a time Shauna did die. something brought her back, or kept her from staying there. but it wasn't Mari's "wilderness, I hope Shauna doesn't die" or Travis' well intended but useless blood magic (recall Lottie "can't this just be enough? please?" it was never enough) or even the baby's death covering the symbol on the blanket in blood. those are futile hopes and bargains. the baby was already doomed. and the wilderness doesn't trade, we know this. it chooses. someone has to die. it took Crystal and spared Shauna. Shauna thinks she's been snubbed by the group and by extension the wilderness when it takes Javi and Nat is crowned, but what she fails to see is that she was chosen first. she keeps being chosen! not to die, to live. Coach Martinez dying to put her oxygen mask on. Jackie dying to later feed her. the wilderness taking Crystal (where is her body? it belongs to the wilderness now) to get Shauna through a dangerous labor. Nat dying in her place as the queen of hearts twenty-five years later. maybe it always did like Nat best, but it killed for Shauna first. and it kept killing for her. for girls like Shauna (and for girls like the Wilderness) isn't that just the shape love makes? a knife wound.

wilderness baby lives and it’s a BIG struggle but the survivors manage to keep the baby alive until they’re rescued a year later and of course they’re all feral about it. that is THEIR baby. shauna, as the person who always gets jealous of other people, gets upset about Her baby becoming Our baby, but after she has some fits she comes to terms with it taking a village and all.
when they get rescued shauna lies about the father because she doesn’t want to deal with the ramifications of the baby being jeff’s in the eyes of society and immediately throws travis under the bus with it, which makes everything very complicated with the rest of the survivors but, like, it’s better than involving JEFF!
travis: this sucks but at least i get like, a legal right to the baby here. that’s more than nat and lottie and tai and van and misty get.

I just realised something. Initially it annoyed me a little that AU Powder doesn't seem to have psychosis. Which Powder had on the bridge!
But no, Ekko had a bad reaction and threw a tool at Powder, then Benzo comes in and... they both laugh it off? "Oi, one of those days huh?" "You know those ugly twins. Genius and madness!"
...they're all used to working around Powder's psychosis, aren't they? She's okay because multiple people are helping her to understand what's real and what isn't, and not blaming her for being unsure. And they're automatically doing the same for Ekko.

Well i stayed up all night but I finally had a smidge of inspiration I felt like I could do anything with, so I had to go for it. Here is a Feemor that left the Jedi and joined the Mandalorians, inspired by @blackkatmagic 's post here. It just really stuck in my brain I had to explore it. My skill with drawing or designing armor has not improved lmao but you know I'm feeling OK about it. The civvies are what i imagine he wore when leaving Coruscant, with everything he could call his own on his back, and his kyber crystal around his neck. And then of course there's the armor he got when joining the True Mandalorians. I wanted his helmet to look unique and callback a bit to his Jedi upbringing. I don't know if I nailed the look I was going for but oh well.
And a Jaster. As a treat.

“You’re asexual, how are you a victim of religious extremism? You’re not doing anything.”
“Exactly, i’m not doing anything, meaning i’m not actively looking for a man to be my husband. I’m not interested in having sex and according to the bible YOU MUST PROCREATE. I’ve had men & some women tell me that women belong to men and it is their duty to become wives/mothers & to sexually satisfy men. I’ve also been told to grow up because sex is normal/natural and you must submit to a man.”
Any person who thinks asexuals are free from religious extremism or have never been victims of religious extremism are delusional (i think some people forgot that Aces are queer too). Acephobia comes in many forms sadly. Acephobia aside, this is straight up sexism too.

Just saw an ad for fucking Kellog's cornflakes wherein a shirtless blindfolded man tied to a bed is like "Wait.. are you... eating??" and it pans across the bed to reveal that his partner is, indeed, too distracted to have sex with him bc she is chowing down on corn flakes. Now I've been caught up in wondering whether:
a) John Harvey Kellog would despise this ad; the mere proximity of bondage-play to his brand name and beloved anti-porn flakes is unforgivable
b) John Harvey Kellog would enjoy this ad, because it shows a young woman forsaking the temptations of the flesh in favour of eating a wholesome and nourishing bowl of cornflakes

Lucerys being Corlys’ favorite but also Maester Gerardys’ favorite is so funny to me like any time those two are in a scene together? He’s got his arm around Luke’s shoulders. Even in the scene where they talk to Rhaenyra and she’s in labor
