I love how one of the main “arguments” people are making about why we, apparently, shouldn’t hate homophobes is “how are you even DEFINING homophobia anyway? What if someone is homophobic but, like, they are just uncomfortable seeing gay people being affectionate in public?”
Well, fuck them.
I’m not going to sit here and quantify how “how much homophobia is enough homophobia to think someone is a homophobe.”
“Oh, they are only KINDA a homophobe. That’s fine.” No.
No.
All homophobia is dangerous. All homophobia contributes to heterosexism and violence and lays the foundations for even more virulent and dangerous homophobia. No homophobia is harmless.
