i have mixed thoughts about Cakewalk because while she has more melanin than we could ever get out of a genshin player, why is the only clearly black musicart based off of THAT song????
like. i'm glad that it's not a design that is outright based on a golliwog (because that would be quite obviously racist), and i'm also glad that she's not whitewashed... but maybe the best idea would have been to.. i don't know.. not use the song entirely?
also new world symphony was right there

need to inject this shit into my veins
i fucking love 1812 overture more than any of you will ever know. if 1812 overture has 100 fans i'm one of them. if 1812 overture has 10 fans i'm one of them. if 1812 overure has 1 fan that's me, and if it has none then i'm dead. it just awakens something primal in me, and suddenly i'm there on the battlefield kicking napoleon's or whatever the fuck. riding a cannon to victory like i'm in dr. strangelove

who are your favorite and least favorite musicarts design wise 🤔
oh my god, sorry I haven't posted here in forever;;
For the non-releasers, Blue Danube's flapper outfit absolutely slays. I love when they take a good gimmick like that and execute it well. The whole Holst Sisters (Jupiter, the unreleased Mars, and what I would theoretically expect to be the others) also playing off Sailor Moon is also cool but doesn't feel like it relies too heavily on SM which makes it cute but not stale. Sukeban Mars is also just.. the perfect concept for Mars within that gimmick?
For releasers, I love Tann's gladiator design, and when I first saw La Mer I was ecstatic because her dress looked like something I could actually see myself wanting to wear (which doesn't always have to be a top priority of designers but is always a nice touch). But many of the releasers have their strengths, even if they're a little needlessly sexualized (see: Schehe, Carmen, Walk). And 'butch' designs like Freeshooter, Don, and Bolero will always hold a place in my heart.
As for the least favorite/s:
Peergynt?? WHY DID THYE MAKE PEERGYNT LOOK LIKE THAT? based on her design alone I have no idea what her source is like which I think should be something we hold all of the designs to, ESPECIALLY incidental music or other pieces with a very clear cut "story" to them. I get that the buttons are a part of peer Gynt, but she looks more like a seamstress. There's just maybe more they could've done to incorporate parts of the original play imo? Or just make her 100% In the Hall of the Mountain King. I would've liked that.
OG Ode to Joy was also a flop imo. She looked like she spawned naked and just ripped her grandma's shower curtain off from its rings and was like "this is my clothing now." it looked like ass and I could not take her seriously with that grandma sheet ass dress.
months ago I planned on making an official review post of every music art design ever, so maybe I should get on that now that you've reminded me lol. I forgot how much I had to say on the matter.. thanks for asking btw!

An idea just came to me, and congratulations if those words made a chill run down your spine you may take it as proof of your sanity lol.
That said, picture this Sea shanty Musicarts acting as a naval force, somewhat similar to the Kansen from Azur Lane, the only issue is that communications got cut with them early in the war so no one knows they even exist until they show up at port one day and ask for orders.
When asked where they have been for so many years they respond with-
"We lost contact with you lot and thought you were all dead, so we decided to gather survivors and build up some islands into a new home for us and them.
Then we had that kraken D2 blocking us from getting to Europe and that damn shark blocking the arctic passage, so once we killed them we started exploring, found a small city up in Antarctica, pretty good folks and they make excellent jerky, and helped them secure the area before we headed out again.
Eventually we ran out of rum and moonshine from back home so we figured we would make a sweep of the coast to see if there was anyone to trade with, then we saw some crazy chick with an RPG blowing up D2s near a port and helped her.
She told us that she worked for the Symphonica and here we are. Now will all of that said, who do we have to talk to in order to get our rum and moonshine stores filled up before we sortie again? We want to try and get to Bermuda this time."
Cue the Conductors and Director having a fit lol.
Also, Folk Song Musicarts that appear without a score being composed and are instead the result of various tribes and indigenous people calling them forth by will power and mysticism, just an additional idea.
All of that said, stay safe and take care.
I can assure you, I am all but sane lmao.
God it'd be so funny to see naval culture from a bunch of teenage-girl-looking Musicarts. Imagine their heaviest drinker is one of the youngest looking ones but also been around the longest. Anchors Aweigh looks 12 but can hold her rum like it's water to her.
Also, there BETTER be some Sousa girls on that damn ship, if it's not all of them. I have a feeling they would be the most militaristic by nature. We have a design for El Capitan and she's dressed in some pretty flashy military garb so I think that's not a stretch.
I also had an idea a while ago for a folk song Musicart! Specifically, Kalinka—the oldest at Simfonika Volgograd, whose Alpha Youth cells were so numerous she was still able to undergo transformation at 74. She's essentially retired, though, functioning more as the Simfonika's babushka and trainer of new recruits. But I also like this idea of Musicarts being channeled through their people, though. I wonder how the process of becoming a Musicart through that means would be, if it's a gradual process and if you'd need to constantly maintain it by singing the song aloud to yourself or having others sing it with you.

do you have any hcs for the anime musicarts? (If you've watched it)
oh gosh i'll admit i haven't seen much—
Titan? We love her. Stan her. From what I know of her, her humor is definitely that 2012 kind of "tacos narwhals XD lolz im so randomz". I bet she really misses Lenny post-anime though, and would likely try and pry Takt to try and get his memory working again because she hates the idea that she lost him too. Her outfit also gives me major "I learned how to tapdance" vibes.
Heaven and Hell are homoerotic as fuck. They've explored each other's bodies. If not girlfriends why opposite motifs + fuse into one being?
Cosette is a mystery to me. She seems to fit into that common trope of "Socially awkward and silent enough to be reasonably autistic but without any other big signs", which I'll admit adds fuel to my idea that being neurodivergent or otherwise "weird" predisposes you to Musicart-dom in some way (whether it's a coincidence or a biological thing). But that's really it from me. It's interesting how they brought her back in the game, though, and the questions it raises as to how exactly ghosts function in the Takt Op Universe.
If I ever get around to watching the anime, I'll probably come back to these. But college means I'm a lil busy sometimes lol :P

Takt.Op: Simfonika Volgograd
In the harshest winter, only the strongest survive. Whether it be the might of the body, of heart, or of mind... Volgograd depends on only the very best.
"So what if rations are decreasing?!" 1812, Volgograd's redheaded pride and joy, shouted. "We'll just expand our territory further!"
"With how our ranks are faring? We'd be spreading ourselves too thin," Stalingrad, at her side, whispered.
"Indeed." Resurrection didn't even look up from her rosary—she was always channeling her energy, even during mealtimes. "It would be a death sentence even I couldn't reverse."
"Insubordinates! None of you ever listen to me." 1812 flipped her cap up, getting it out of her eyes. "I'll prove you all wrong, you know. I could take on all of Berlin by myself if I have to."
Firebird, who'd all but been busy finishing her plate, finally spoke up—to laugh at 1812. "You couldn't conquer a puddle if it was 2 feet in front of you."
"Hey!"
These four girls—each a Musicart and conductor in their own right—were indeed the shining jewels of Simfonika Volgograd. But their coming tests against the Beast of the North, the D2-aligned "Bells of Zlonice", may waver their faith in their institutions, as well as each other.

An image has come to my mind, that being Twinkle Star becomes a guest lecturer at a University Grade class on Astrophysics, with the whole class gaping as this tiny girl walks into the classroom, steps up a step stool to stand before the podium and starts her lecture.
And as this tiny child is providing her lecture, everyone has to fight the urge to coo at her, especially given the hulking form of Tannhauser and the smaller but more armored form of Walkure that have accompanied her as her bodyguards.
Once all is said and done, Twinkle Star steps off of the podium, takes a bow or curtsy, and then is lifted up and placed on Tannhauser's shoulders and given a ride off of the campus.
I also like to picture each of the Musicarts trying to teach each other their own national languages...with varying degrees of success, some, such as Canon and Winter, take to them like a fish to water, while others like Jupiter and Tannhauser have...some difficulties with them lol.
Somehow, Twinkle star and Nutcracker wind up absorbing the most languages, becoming fully fledged polyglots with relative ease, though this also has the side effect of them occasionally switching languages while writing or speaking, causing a few issues lol.
As a final image before I go to sleep, Tannhauser and Jupiter's meeting at the Berlin Symphonica went something like Meliodas and Bans meeting after being apart for so long from Seven Deadly Sins, that is they started throwing down while smiling and laughing, totaling a rather sizable portion of the building as they fought, all while laughing and cheering.
The conductors nearly had a shared heart attack when the pair broke through the wall and into the cafeteria while they were sparring, and a poor Mutar was even crushed by some of the debris...how unfortunate lol.
All of that said, stay safe and take care.
RAHHH OMG YOU'VE SEEN MY POST ABOUT MUSIE RIGHT?? THE INTER-MUSICART DIALECT THAT DEVELOPED IN BERLIN SYMPHONICA AS A RESULT OF MUSICARTS SHARING INNATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE "HOME LANGUAGE" OF THEIR SCORE?!! (edit; you have lol i forgor 💀) twinkle star would probably speak that 90% of the time, since she's one of the oldest musicarts by time served (iirc she's technically like. 42. which is so funny to me). So I bet Twinkle Star is the bet at Musie naturally, even if she's not good at teaching it. Many other musicarts likely speak and converse in non-Musie, though, since the existence of a half-French half-German creole with no written records and that nobody but Musicarts can understand might make the higher-ups a little worried... god forbid their war machine tries to secretly communicate with each other to.. *shudder* unionize...
Tann and Jupie are 100% the type to break shit without even thinking, so their 'greeting throwdown' makes total sense. They're probably also the only ones who can arm wrestle each other without sending the other flying (Walkure refuses to participate, and as such does not count).
Anyway, two drawings of Twinkle Star and one of Jupie:

^ explanation on my thought process for "deha": In Musie, French "J"s are pronounced like German "J"s, which, in the middle of words, softened over time to voiced "H"s. I could see it being used further with "kenn" (short for kennen) to make "Dekkenn" (pronounced Day-ken), which would be used as something similar to "OK" or "You got it." (if anybody here is a linguist pls tell me if that's an unreasonable shift lol)

Seeing your idea on Carmen being part Cuban, I raise you that Twinkle Star has nightmares and regularly requires one of her big sisters or the conductors to read her a bed time story so she can sleep, and that is assuming she does not just slip into their room to cuddle up with them.
Also, I like to imagine that Nicholas and Bolero are either in a relationship in a verse where Takt does not form a pact with her, or are at the very least on the road to becoming something like the strong-silent big sister and her weaker and more timid little brother figure, with Bolero becoming a bit more protective over him as time goes on.
In the event the aforementioned pair are together, imagine they are both so dense that neither realizes the other has feelings for them until they are sat down and told so by everyone else...or locked in a closet together lol.
All of that said, a final headcanon to share before I turn in for the night is that Destiny once scared the hell out of Air On The G String by waiting for her in Takt's room and then sneaking up behind her when she was approaching a sleeping Takt.
Safe to say air's scream woke Takt up as she bolted down the hall lol.
till next time, stay safe and take care, and never let the music die.
I FUCK WITH THE LAST ONE ESPECIALLY. destiny feels like the type to covertly start shit 100%, her and canon LOVE fucking with people's heads all the time and getting away with it because nobody suspects the prim and proper ones of scaring people on purpose, CLEARLY destiny was just in the wrong place at the wrong time..
Your Twinkle Star idea is so cute though! I also like to imagine her score affinity + the extensive amount of time she's been a child has made her a savant of sorts, so mixed in with the normal kid nightmares are things like "I had a nightmare that the Sun ran out of hydrogen 🥺 and it became a supernova and we all DIED" and her sisters just have to pretend they totally understand what she means.

Hello, I woke up to some bad news today it seems that Takt Op. Symphony will be EOSing come April.
That said, I have no interest in abandoning this setting and these characters, I will endeavor to continue to flesh out my au for this game even after it ceases operations and honor it the best way I can, through writing, however shit it is.
I already have some ideas in mind for tributes to them on AO3 and such, from mentions in a fic that is in the works, to perhaps a few other fics as well.
I am sorry for being the bearer of this bad news, but I figured I should inform you.
Take care and stay safe.
WHAT?!!!!!!
berlin symphonica has fallen. billions must.. uh.. music.
that's really sad :/ this game helped me cope through a really tough summer, and i'm sad that the concept didn't receive enough love to keep it going for even a full year. but i do think there's a silver lining in that now takt op symphony is what we make it—the fans will be the primary source of lore as this goes on, in a sense, which is a huge responsibility but also could be a really fun collaborative effort.
i've been stuck on other projects and duties starting around october or so (mainly my first year of college), so i'm sad that i didn't get a chance to revisit this media that i hold dear to me before its shutdown was announced. it's disheartening, especially since similar games like Reverse1999 have seemed to explode so much in popularity.
I hope to also find time to write a tribute or two for this lovely series—either on my pre-existing ao3 account or a new one under this name. Maybe just some one-shots of our girls going about their day, maybe one taking place after the Berlin Symphonica has been raided and can't be saved. Maybe even one with my Simfonika Volgograd characters as well, who knows.
