The pair of dice represents taking risks, the hearts represent love, and the stars represent hope/wishes. The eight ball represents the eight members in ENHYPEN, the cherries are an added touch because she likes cherries, and she doesn’t have the stars on the last picture as shown. The dragonfly represents strength, and she just really wanted a tattoo there in that spot. The spiderlily tattoo is associated with death and mourning in Japan, and represents her childhood best friend, Momona, who died at thirteen. She is starting to get sillier with her tattoos, which is why she got the jellyfish most recently and on her hip.

▬▬ 2004. ꗃ ..⃗. On June 6, 2004, after a long nineteen hours of birth, Aihara Yuina was born at 02:22AM. Her parents, Junpei and Kiyoko, had been trying for years to get pregnant and Yuina was the only pregnancy that continued to full term. Despite this, she was a healthy baby and they were allowed to take her home a day after. They lived in Tokyo, Japan, where it was close to both of her parents’ workplace. Her father was a construction worker that was always at work from before the sun came up and after the sun went down, while her mother was a music teacher at an International school.

▬▬ 2007–2010. ꗃ ..⃗. Whenever her mother was at work, and Yui wasn’t at school yet, she would have a teenage babysitter, Kimi, who’d constantly play music to make Yui happy. She grew up loving Jpop idols like AKB48 and Namie Amuro, and Kimi was the same one who also introduced her to Kpop with BoA and Super Junior. There’s shaky videos on a camera somewhere in her house of Yui from ages three to six, singing along to karaoke.

▬▬ 2011–2016. ꗃ ..⃗. (CW mentions of bullying & suicide) Yui begged to be put in singing and dance classes during school, even willing to participate in gymnastics and athletics like her mother wanted her to. Accepting that dance was another form of exercise, she signed her up for classical ballet. When Yui was eleven, she started begging for a switch in dance genres. This time, Yui was allowed to choose— contemporary dance. This is where she met Watabe Momona, and the two quickly bonded over their love for the same idols. The two were always with each other, even after school. When they joined junior high school, everything changed. Other students were bullying Momona, and would do the same to Yui when she tried to stop them, but Momona was their main target. It was a couple months later that Yui woke up to her mother waking her up to tell her that Momona passed away. She had left her a note, telling her that she was sorry she left her alone but to continue living happily and dancing because she was the best dancer she’d ever seen. For months, it was hard for Yui to participate in anything, even when her mother forced her to go to school. She only started to dance again at the end of the year when she became a fan of BTS and learned their choreographies. She started to love dancing again, even if Momona wasn’t by her side anymore.

▬▬ 2017. ꗃ ..⃗. In September of 2017, Starto Entertainment scouted Yui on the street after witnessing her busking. She spent three weeks begging her parents to let her, and they only let her once they came to the agreement that she’d keep up her studies as well. She kept up her side of the agreement, taking her academics seriously. In December, BigHit Entertainment scouts saw videos of her from a fan account on Twitter and found out her parents’ phone number and emails. Her parents had no intention of telling her about BigHit’s interest—until Yui happened to answer one of their calls and saw the email herself. The idea of their daughter moving all the way to South Korea was out of the question for them, even though they had allowed her to train with Starto. Yui didn’t take the rejection well. Determined, she quietly recorded and sent her audition videos of BoA’s No. 1 and J-Hope’s Boy Meets Evil choreography directly to BigHit’s email, without her parents’ knowledge. When they found out, it sparked a heated argument over the cost of flying her to South Korea and the question of where she would live. But BigHit was eager for her to become a trainee and removed every obstacle they brought up, offering to cover all expenses and house her in the trainee dorms under the care of the trainee manager. With no practical objections left, and faced with their tearful, pleading daughter, her parents reluctantly agreed to think it over. That night, Yui finally calmed down enough to sleep until the morning. By the next morning, they had their answer: she could go—on the condition that she call and FaceTime them twice a day so they could be sure she was safe.

▬▬ 2018–2020. ꗃ ..⃗. In January 2018, Yui moved to South Korea to begin training under BigHit. Thanks to her love of K-pop, she had already been studying Korean before the move and was at an intermediate level, making the language barrier far less intimidating. Her strong vocals and sharp dance skills quickly stood out, and she adapted to being a trainee with ease. By 2020, Yui was presented with her biggest opportunity yet— competing in the new co-ed survival show I-LAND. She’d be stupid to say no.
