Transilvania roadtrip 2023

Day 4/10

Salt mine day.. One of must see destinations on this trip.. It was hot outside, narrow streets and whole city was one big traffic jam.

Salt mine was jaw dropping incredible.. I had been in Polish awesome Wieliska salt mine before and row a boat in project Raize tunnels etc but these mine was cool on another level. Some useful tips. Bring cash with you! ATM is far away and down there all is cash only. Buy ticket (card works up there) with lift included.. Boat and wheel ride tickets sold separately at attractions for cash only.

There is no cell service in mine so when we get up near entrance all phones started to ring.. Extreme weather alert.. And it was heavy rain outside.. Before going to mine we left our gear and clothes locked on the bike becouse it was so hot and we did not expected rain in few hours.. Thankfully helmets were left visor down but jacket was soaking wet.. Nothing to do so we continiued our trip and gear dryed out..

Day 3/10

Just ride through Slovakia and ungary until reached Romanian border. Border control was kind of surprise for us but then we remembered why..

Outside temp was pleasant like in hell and border guards seemed to have long lunch while we was melting inside riding gear.. Meet some nice fellov motorcycle guys there, 2 from Germany and one from UK.

Crossed border, had some really nice roads to ride and at the end of a day found some really awesome hotel&restourant near lake and dam. Lake view was stunning, late night chat&beer in the fog near camp fire its a good thing to remember. Next day while leaving we roude over lake dam..

P.S Slovakia - nice roads and views but ungary was like in soviet time, lot of potholes, poor willages, neglected houses.. nothing to see in that part so just stopped for refuelling somewhere and continued ride until RO border.

Day 2/10

Every roadtrip is not complete without one night in truck drivers hotel and its disco bar and night butterflyes outside at parking lot.. :)

Hotel was actually quite nice and clean.

Found some German bratwurst in Polish willage.. it was closed so no idea what is inside.. WW2 train storage perhaps.

Day 1/10.

Trip from home to hotel in wolfs lair what happens to be closed. Found another one in nice old town Mragowo. total 930km. Had best žurek soup in Poland.
