WALK IT LIKE WE TALK IT : Kwentuhang Kabarangay
Tumblr media
Photo with BDRRMC Members from Left Sir Jayson Batocabe and Sir Roland Hernandez.
As a resident of the Philippines we are to serve our country not only for ourselves but for the good of the whole community. This idea of being able to take action and lead others towards a better future starts little by little. Our own municipality and barangay is an ideal place to start. Last December 12, 2019, I was able to have a talk with Kuya Jayson Batocabe and Roland Hernandez who are members and volunteers of BDRRMC Barangay Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council at the BDRRMC Office. It was a very informative talk since I have learned a lot of things from them and how am I to help my community in my own way.
It may sound and look boring as people would hear talks about helping other people but it is an amazing feeling to bring smiles to others. The questionn is, How can I actaully help my community? Simply by helping in segragating garbages in our own homes can prevent clogging drainages that would have never lead to flooding. Another is by looking into what interests you it is a way of helping your own community. I learned that hobbies and interests can be turned into businesses and provide livelihood. Like in our barangay, cooking and dress making seminars and workshops are done for the benefit of all. If you wanted helping through immersing yourself into rescue operations you may volunteer yourself in your local BRRMC group or may be a reach out program volunteer.
There are a lot of ways in which you can help your neighbors and to be part of a community that helps each other. It is true that disasters are unpredictable, all we can ever do is prepare ourselves of all possibilities and impossibilities. Now, I can say that the difference starts with an initiative to work for the better. It starts within you dare to give out a helping hand and you will never regret anything.

Bee Safe : THINGS TO REMEMBER
Tumblr media
Disasters are unpredictable no one knows when it will happen. It may cause destruction to the barangay's livelihood, infrastructures and services.  So, here are the points to keep in mind.
IT IS MOST DANGEROUS FOR:
THE THREAT OF LAND SLIDE: The residents of lower San Isidro since its topography is it is located near a hill side. THE THREAT OF FLOODING: Sitio Tabak because it is located beside a creek.
Designated evacuation areas are the safest place to go. Barangay covert courts serves as evacuation area in times of disasters.

Sun is out,  The Signs are out! : HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
Tumblr media
Calamities and hazards are a serious threats to everybody's life. It is a must, to know how it is identified, assessed and addressed. Antipolo City is of a high location and is not prone to flooding but rather has a high possibility to experience landslides. The Barangay San Isidro Antipolo City Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (BDRRMC) created a disaster preparedness guidebook "Kamalayan sa Kahandaan, Katumbas ay Kaligtasan". A booklet that is distributed althrough the barangay which aims to provide awareness of the do's and dont's before, during and after a possible strike of a  disaster.  It is one way of reaching out to the their constituents and at the same time be disseminate information about the courses of actions to be taken.
