Well, this was a surprise. Even Primals got hooked into this device, is it because of its easy to use interface? Whatever the case, Cain took a moment to reply, having put a music player trying to answer to the message. ...This would take a while to get used to.

obsessivedarkmage:
Dark eyes watched as the man lit the small candle in the boat, then placed it onto the surface of the water to drift off. Tharja still didn’t understand the meaning of the boat, but it seemed meaningful so she wouldn’t complain further. If she had access to her full magic, she could have lit the candle using nothing but her fingers, but it wasn’t the case nowadays.
So the woman took the match she was given and struck it, the head bursting into flame . With gentle hands, she moved the flame towards the candle, and once it was lit, shook the match out. The boat was then put onto the shore for it to sail off with the others. She then stood there for a single moment, then offered the man a small smile.
“I must admit, they look rather…. nice, all floating out there.” she murmured.
“They do.”
He says, looking at the sailing boats slowly joining the rest as they disappear on the distance. He took a moment of silence, remembering his brother Abel, letting the sound of the waves hitting the shore. He let the thoughts he had to simply be washed by the waves, he couldn’t simply let the burden of Abel to take him forever.
“I apologize if this seems intrusive, and it rightfully is. But, who are you mourning in this day? From what I heard, this was an event to celebrate those who passed.”
“I lost my brother, just to ‘even’ things out, but really. Don’t feel pressured to answer if you don’t like it, I’ll understand.”

Ah so route by surrender? It was a noble enough means of victory for one who didn’t favor direct fighting or violence. In direct comparison, the Shepherds really didn’t get a chance at something like that given how many of their enemies preferred to be the instigators while they were forced to counter attack and march forward as a result of their actions as opposed to that of the royal kingdom’s. Morgan was very keen on listening to Cain however and all of his opinions which really made him more interested.
A katana and a flintlock though.. a bit of an alternative means to what Morgan used, that having been a sword and tome.. long range and short range. So they did have that in mind! When asked about his own means of being a tactician though, Morgan perked up a bit before immediately answering.
“ No lives are ever used! At least in my mother’s crusades. She some how managed to avoid a single casualty on our side during her entire time leading the armies! I should know seeing as a majority of the soldiers in her era had children who are my best friends and allies. I feel no goal is worth that many lives and I’d like to not use up as many as possible. You should really meet my mother, she is quite the devilish mind! “
So he and his mother didn’t sacrifice any life in their strategies, that was good to hear. He had found other tacticians on the library and even on the Skyrealm comparing their soldiers as mere pawns of chess. Sure, there was a benefit of using others lifes to reach a goal, but for Cain that was just a cheap and evil way of doing things, no life goes unaccounted. After Torhid, after Abel’s death, Cain changed his tactics to reflect this.
“I can see your mother is a exceptional tactician, no wonder you’re following her steps. How long was this campaign, by the way?”
“Children? As in, literal kids?” At first Cain squinted, thinking quite literally of kids, but since Morgan seemed to be in his middle to late teens, he discarded that idea quickly. “Well, for you and your friends to be caught up in the campaign must be sign that it was quite large scale.”
“I should, yeah. Maybe she can teach me some of those tactics used to preserve everyone alive.”

Soft laughter filled the air as their eyes met; while Chat Noir could be a mysterious and hard to read sort, he never had any reason to hide his joy when mischief was at work.
“ Trying to use my own tools against me? How bold. ”
Cute and endearing were other terms to describe the attempt, but there wasn’t any need to go overboard at the moment. Instead, the phantom thief set aside the robots that he was currently working on and stood up to properly face his would-be “assailant.”
“ Did you need anything? Or should I await your next attempt with bated breath? ”
“Ahaha...”
With an embarrassed laugh, Cain wipes the rest of the webbing from his face, some of it remained on his hair but that would be dealt with a shower later this day.
“Yeah, first time I decide to play a trick on someone but it backfires. Guess pranks are not my forte.” Putting a hand on the back of his head, the Idelvan General laughed a bit ashamed. Of course only him would think it was a good idea to use someone’s creations against them, at least this wasn’t the battlefield.
“Well, I was just checking if everything was ready before we started this little project. But seeing your robots trigger at the most delicate touch I deduce that’s not the case. Do you want me to help you with something?”

Well that was disappointing, Cain not having a female version of himself out there. Last Morgan remembered, the female him was a nice girl. Super outgoing admittedly but she was still nice. Morgan would listen to Cain speak on behalf of his land the best he could, but Morgan’s interest immediately perked up as he found himself scooting forward a bit at hearing about how Cain was also a tactician. Something he would be overly excited about and something Cain would sadly have to now deal with.
“ You’re a tactician too?! What a coincidence, so are my mother and I, and the female me and the father version of my mother! What kind of tactics do you employ, are you well known in your land? Do you prefer passive strategies or offensive? What are your thoughts on uphill struggle? Also do you fight yourself, and with what?! “ Congratulations on opening the flood gates.
It seemed that the previous topic was easily discarded in one quick second. He didn’t mind, of course. Getting to talk with fellow tacticians is a good opportunity to put his knowledge to the test. Granted, some of his tactics involved the risk of not expending any lives on both sides and perhaps it wasn’t something most tacticians used on their field work.
“Aha, yeah. Oh, a business your family is in, then? That’s the first time I’ve heard it. My brother was just commander on the army and my parents were merchants.” He coughs, getting back on topic. “Ah, well... I know it’ll sound weird, but I use tactics to surround the enemies and make them surrender, in a chess like manner. Well, I believe that as general and tactician I am known well in my army, although there are other tacticians out there.”
“I prefer direct confrontation, yeah. Uphill battles are not my favorite, but I guess that if you can’t avoid it, then we must press with caution. I tend to switch between offensive and passive as the battle rages on. I do fight in the frontlines, yeah, I use a katana and a flintlock pistol as backup.” Having finally answered the question the young tactician did towards him. “And you, Morgan? What are your thoughts on those questions? Do you prefer to expend as few lives as possible or would you use as many in order to achieve your goal?”

Shigure perked up at the sound of “haunted house”. It’d been too a while since she’d been to one, even back home. And this would be put on by people from another world. Maybe it wouldn’t be frightening to her, maybe it would be. Whatever else, it would be interesting.

“Sure! Is it tonight?”
Finishing his cup of tea, he bowed to Shigure thanking her for the warm drink. As she beamed up with a smile at the mention of the haunted house project between the Grandcypher crew.
“Yeah, it is.” Having stood up, he walks towards the door opening it so the Shipgirl may leave after him. “Oh, just be warned. It may be too spooky for you. After all Primals helped us to make it.”

The shipgirl frowned. “I suppose, but you are still a general. If you prefer for me not to though, I’ll try. Might be a bit hard to break with habits for me, I’m afraid,” she said with a small smile. “Come in, come in.” She moved aside to let Cain in, then took a small cup down from the shelf. The shipgirl poured the tea into the cup before pushing it before him. She slipped a bookmark into place to mark her place, then closed the book and set it aside.
“So what brings you here at this time, Gen- Cain?” she asked as she took a sip from her own cup, savoring the familiar taste of the bergamot infused tea.
“Ah, don’t worry, if you feel like calling me General every now and then I’ll understand, though it’ll take me a moment to adjust, haha.” Cain laughed a bit. “Sure. Thank you for letting me in.” He took a seat and as the shipgirl offered him the cup, he took it. “Thank you.”
“I found more people of my world, from my old crew even.” He took a sip from the steaming cup of tea. “Oh! This is pretty good!” Putting the cup on the table, he reaffirmed himself. “We pulled out a haunted house near the Cotes ward. It’s not everyday we pull an event like this, but after the... incident with undead people, I guess it’s a good chance to have some fun, just to forget about all that. What do you say, wanna go?”

“ I guess having the spiders shoot bubblegum webbing at guests that misunderstand their pictograms would be a touch too obnoxious. ”
It would be fine if this escape room had been created to rile up detective Barawa—not that Chat Noir wouldn’t enjoy seeing strangers irritated as they tried to get the sticky substance off their clothes or skin, but programming them to make sure it wouldn’t get in anyone’s hair might be too more effort than it was worth.
“ Oh well. ”
Talking to himself out loud wasn’t one of the phantom thief’s many habits, but he’d already taken note of Cain’s approach even while tinkering around with his robotic spiders. Not that he’d make that awareness clear just yet: it might be fun to see if there was any mischief in the Idelvan man’s heart. They were preparing for a haunted house, so spooking overly focused crewmates would be a less boring method of getting their attention.
Though, it was far more likely that the other man simply wanted to offer to help out. Cain seemed nice, but he was already proving that he had a poor habit of stretching himself thin for the sake of others. A noble and sweet gesture, but foolhardy.
“Let’s see. Percival’s armors are already done, the... eerie looking imitation head of in the table like also done... what’s next.” The Idelvan General marked everything on the board he had on his hands. He kept walking, checking everything as he passed around said things, mostly boxes and things that would go to Chat Noir’s labyrinth, which was the next thing on the list.
“Ah.” He stumbled into one of the spiders that the man had built for this occasion. He didn’t know how they exactly worked, but seeing one scattered away from the others was a detail he couldn’t let bygone, and so he took the small spider, looking a bit puzzled at it. “Uh, guess I’ll ask him where to... Agh!” Of course, a bit of a small mischief came on Cain’s mind, deciding to play a joke on the Phantom Thief.
Click.
“Woah!?”
Having pressed the apparent trigger, it shoot some sort of substance into him, as he takes out some of it from his face. “Ah... Ahaha, nice joke. Guess I played myself.” Noticing the other man watching him, he smiled awkwardly at him. “Whoops, you noticed me.”

Threo’s eyes lit up as finally, for the first time since she arrived in this city, someone knew who the Et- no, wait, there was that other draph lady who knew them too. Not to mention the other crew members. Nevermind, then.
Taking a moment to wipe her mouth with the back of her sleeve, Threo grinned at the young man. “You got it! I’m Threo of the Eternals! I can’t believe barely anyone here knows us! I don’t know which part of the skies this is, but you figure even these people would’ve heard of us…”
She took a moment to chomp on some more noodles, nodding as she slurped.
“Dat’sh whur yer from!” she said, forgetting her manners for another moment before swallowing. “I’m there too, sometimes! Well, if you’re friends with the Captain, you must be a good person!” Which meant there was nothing to worry about. “You know me, but who’re you? My memory isn’t super great, so what’s your name?”
He could see the draph’s eyes lit up as he says the name of the Eternals, that settled it. He was amused, that even the mighty Eternals who could compete with the Seven Luminary Knights were taken there just like the rest, it filled him with a bit of anxiety as how these entities could capture whoever they wanted with extreme ease.
“I don’t think this is part of our Sky Realm if my theory is right, but I’ve found people of our own sky realm around here so it’s hard to form a concise answer.” He smiled awkwardly as the other chomped on her food.
“I think I never saw you, really. But even in Nahelgrande you hear of them. Ahaha, to have the seal of approval of a Eternal, it’s an honor. Ah, my name is Cain, I joined Captain’s crew a bit late, I don’t actually know the name of all the crewmembers.”

The woman’s head lowered as she listened to the stranger speak. He unfortunately made sense, but it wasn’t in Tharja’s interest to let him know that he was. Instead she gripped the boat a bit tighter before she squatted down by the water’s edge. Truthfully, the mage didn’t have too many moments with her family before they went away, so it was hard to recall any on hand.
Mmm, she didn’t like thinking on it for too long.
Tharja finally looked up at the man, her eyes slightly obscured by her dark bangs. “How do I do this?” she mumbled after a moment.
Tilting his head a little as the other lowered her head, he simply let the sound of the waves hitting the shore take over as the predominant sound between them. Whatever she was thinking, he didn’t let his curiosity take over him, this was after all a event to honor those who have parted. He turned his attention back to the water as he saw the other boats drift away to the foggy distance.
“Oh.” He realized that the other was looking at him, was she? He didn’t know for certain as her bangs obscured her eyes. “Ah, you have to light the candle behind the ship sail and it’ll float away.”
“Like this.” Turning the candle of his own, the tactician puts it on the water and it drifts along with the others.

Shigure looked up at the voice, a half eaten sandwich in her hand. She set down the book she was reading and the sandwich onto the plate next to it, and padded over to the door. She opened it, revealing the general standing outside her door.
She bowed in greeting as she said. “Good evening, General. I am quite free at the moment,” she waved at the book and sandwich on the small table, before turning back to .Cain. “Is there something you need? Perhaps you’d like to step in for a cup of tea?”
Being greeted by the shipgirl, Cain waved his hand in a casual way peeking a bit, seeing the sandwich and book. However, the use of his title by the Destroyer was quite a surprise.
“Ah... You caught me off guard there. I don’t mind being called General but I think just Cain would be enough. I’m not your actual officer, haha.” With his hand on his mouth, he fakes a cough, changing subjects. “Oh, I don’t mind yeah, I guess I could fill you in while we take a cup.”

“ Nope! The other Morgan is just me if I were a female! Although she acts quite differently from myself. She’s a bit more of a free spirit I feel. That and it would be strange to call the male Robin my father since.. well, my father is someone entirely different, right? “ Morgan took a sip of his drink as he looked at Cain, shaking his head at him.
“ No it’s fine! I don’t mind at all! I’ve spoken with him a few times. While I would definitely believe he could pass for a male version of my mother, my mother is far superior in just about every conceivable way. They are close, but I feel she brings it juuuuust a bit closer. As for asking you a question, well, where you do hail from? What is your land like? Do you have a female version of yourself? “
“Ah, I guess that would be the case. Guess in the end even our counterparts are completely different from us. Haha, yeah, I guess you’re right. I would be weirded out calling my mother as my father.” Cain laughed, taking another bite of his treat.
“Is that so? I only talked with the male Robin a bit so I have no idea how different your mother is from him but I guess the other Morgan would say the same about her father, biases for each other, right? Ah, I’m from a place called the Skyrealm, in there a lot of islands are in the skies, my continent...? is called Nahelgrande, and I’m from Idelva, used to be a tactician there. ...Er, no, I don’t think so! Hahaha, it would be quite awkward for me if I were to find a female version of myself. My name is Cain, nice to meet you Morgan.”

The cold nights of the month were a perfect fit, like a ring to the finger for this little project the Grandcypher Crew and what better thing to do than to invite one of his housemates, he didn’t know if the shipgirl was a fan of haunted houses but it didn’t kill to ask.
“Yo, Shigure! Are free for a moment?”

The workload for the haunted house was tough, especially Chat Noir’s labyrinth, but with everyone’s work it wasn’t as hard as he initially thought, just now the last thing to do was to wrap the hall with the different decorations like the spiderwebs or the pieces of armor for the knight hall.
“And...” Cain says, letting the wooden box make a loud thud noise at it falls on the floor. “Done!”
“Thank you for the help, Lucio. I think that’s everything we needed to bring here, well done.” He says with a beaming smile, it was the first time he had ever worked on a small amusement project for the festivities. “Should we go for a drink? Just for a small break.”
