I think Ai no kusabi's lack of popularity is honestly so sad. How a work that was so famous and influential ends up being barely remembered. It's honestly something so weird to even see it being completely absent in the analysis of the semi-early BL works, like this thing is literally one of the most remarkable works on the first yaoi magazine to exist, it explores and subverts so many tropes of early BL, you can not exclude it like that.
